    I was able to replace my air filter by following the pictures in the user manual, but the shock absorber came off, and I hadn't paid attention to what it was attached to, so I couldn't tell which of the two loops to use to attach it inside the compartment. Your video is the only one I could find that actually showed which loop to snap where, so thank you for that!

    Was having my FREE oil change on my '15 RAV 4 @ Naples Toyota here in Florida and the mechanic showed me the dirty cabin air filter and told me he could put in a new one for $50 plus tax ($53.00). I said no thank you and came home, went on line and bought two new ones plus two new engine air filters for $32.17 delivered. (no tax - free delivery). 3 days later they arrived, I watched your vid and installed them both myself... NO TOOLS! Thanks.... A total savings of $150+

    Thanks so much!!! Your video had the clearest visuals for this filter replacement. Feel confident that I can do it myself. (My air flow is fine, but the stealership is pressuring me to change this out along with the engine air filter which I just did myself yesterday. Sometimes it is difficult for them to suggest an additional service on a 7.5 year old, gently used RAV4 with less than 28,000 miles on it. But they are resourceful.) 😍

    Thank you BossMan! Just dropped mine off at the dealer for ToyotaCare Service at 20,000 miles. I am sitting 2 blocks away waiting because of SOCIAL DISTANCING and they just called to suggest air and cabin filter changes that would hit me up for $139. I declined mostly because I didn't have the money. Then I hit TH-cam and there you were. Looks like I can save myself at least $60 bucks depending on how much these filters cost me online. The plaster air filter cover has an arrow indicating the air flow direction. Rav4's have an up arrow (air flow goes up). The video seems to indicate the filter was installed backwards - air flow down.

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps. It's been a while now. Toyota tends to put the arrow facing in the direction of airflow while aftermarket makers have the arrow point up.

    • @njsongwriter
      @njsongwriter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up arrows have nothing to do with air flow. They're simply telling us which side goes up. Air flow is down and an air flow arrow should point down.

    Why does the shock absorber have two different holes to attach to the top post?

      TBH I am not sure. Perhaps the part of the dash is used on different models.

    can I do this for 2016 model?

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Melissa, My wife has a 2018 now and I just confirmed the glove box assembly is identical to the way it is set up on the 2010. This means it will also work for your 2016. The only difference is that the blower housing is black instead of offwhite like on older models. Good luck.

      Hey McFly, if the air flows upward how did dirt collect on the top of the filter? Duh. The air flow is downward. He did it right. Some filters say "UP" on them instead of "air flow". Up is up so those would point up.

    The replacement STP shown is junk. Fram is equally bad. It is a lightwweight cheap paper/cloth pleated filter.
    K&N is the good one. It is at least three times as heavy and is encased in a heavy duty rubberized frame. The pleated filter material is covered with a metal mesh top and bottom. I would not be surprised if you could get use compressed air to clean out and reuse the K&N. Get the K&N.

      @@ThisGuyProductions The old filter you took out and the one you put in had the "air flow" arrow on the filter pointing down, which is the direction of the air flow thru the filter compartment. I say you did it right and that's the way I did mine. Why does the Fram video tutorial tell you to point the arrow up and why is there an arrow pointing up on the door to the filter compartment - I don't know?

      Hi Donald, The arrow on the Fram filter is an air flow indicator and installs with the arrow pointed downward. We are working on correcting the on-line videos- we have some issues with a third party supplier of the videos.
