Hey Scotty! I live about 2 hours away, and come through that area on my way to the Land Between the Lakes... I'm even familiar with where you live.... how freaked out would you be if I just dropped in one day lol... I'd like to show you my old 94 dodge dakota.
$1,000 for a 2010 RAV4? That buyer commuted highway robbery. That would go for almost 10 times that amount up here in NYC. One of the best deals I’ve ever heard of.
@@kvltizt Wouldn't call it a steal. But if it's in good condition, it definitely is a decent deal. Ive seen those go for twice that much. But not more these days.

I have a 2007 Rav4 V6. I bought it in 2012 with 60k miles on it. It now sits at 325,000 miles, no major issues, just routine maintenance and normal wear and tear with use.
How much Gas mileage you are getting? I use same car (175k on it) and am just getting 16 mpg on average in mixed city and highway roads. Is it too poor?
I just love your videos! I am a senior young woman who was ripped off a few years ago by a car dealer and I said never again! I found you on TH-cam and I'm learning so much from you. Thank you !
I have a 2011 V6 Limited RAV4. I have 129,000 miles on it. It is the best car I have ever had. All the options make it great car to drive, especially the heated seats and the back-up camera. The V6 is a 3.5 Liter 269 Horsepower engine and accelerates like a jet. I will keep it until it dies.
With RAV4s, avoid the 2.4L. Look for 2009 or later with the 2.5L, it's an excellent engine, lasts a long time. Even Toyota goofs sometimes and the 2.4L is one of them.
I bought my son a 2011 Rav4 five years ago with 34 thousand miles on it. Runs perfectly. Had sensor light come on from the spare tire. All good now ! The best 12,000 I ever spent.
When I bought my used RAV4 ,had a similar problem . I pump all the 4 wheels to the same pressure , the issue still persisted . It only light only cleared after , I filled the spare tire with air to the right pressure.
My son still has it with about 150 miles on it .Still great vehicle. I heard earlier years had issues with piston ring wear. BTW this one is front wheel drive not all wheel drive. Hope this helps.
Does that make you a little mad that he does that or is it just me? I can barely ride with my mom because she floors it all the time. I even refuse to work on her car.
Wife has a 2009 Rav4-6 cyl with 201,000 miles and still runs great. Tire monitors replaced 3 wks ago when we bought new tires. OEM parts on line $65 for four. Tire shop did not charge labor to replace them. Can't go wrong with Rav4's.
I just bought this same vehicle 2011 Rav4 V6 with 290,000 miles. Bought it for $5,000 . Runs and drives perfectly. I feel like this car could easily see 500,000+ miles with regular maintenance.
High miles but a low price definitely what kind of shape is it in? The water pump can definitely have issues in that engine, as well as the VVT oil cooler line, I encourage you to replace that part with a metal not rubber line made by Dorman. It is known to fail and all your oil will leak out, happened to my parents it will only cost you three hundred bucks
I bought my 2007 RAV-4 five years ago for $3K from one of my customers, he and the original owner always had it serviced at our shop, it now has 208,000 miles and still going strong. I drive it mostly in the winter months when I park my Mustang GT convertible. It's a blast to drive in 4" of fresh snow with its 270 hp V6, all wheel drive and four Goodyear winter tires. 😎
I love my 2010 RAV4. It’s got 145600 miles and runs great! Had to replace the alternator 12,000 miles ago and the upper radiator hose about 15,000 miles ago, but other than that I’ve never had to do anything but scheduled maintenance!
My Mother back in 2015 bought a 2010 Rav4 with 18k miles for 9k off a guy who couldn’t drive anymore. It was a steal, he just wanted to get rid of it. She still has it and it now in 2023 has 47k miles. She loves it and never gives her problems and sometimes I drive it with Her to do errands and its still mint. Im considering getting a 2021 in a few yrs whenever these prices finish their tantrums.
From watching all your videos about Toyotas on how reliable they are. Last year my dads girlfriend gave me a 2005 Toyota rav 4 L in mint condition and well maintenance and well cared for orginal owner too and I love my Toyota. Drives like new and low mileage very happy Scotty. I took your advice on Toyotas and I love my suv keep making videos on Toyota :)
When the tires gets replaced, then they can have the TPMS sensors replaced. Denso sells them directly online or through retailers. Denso is a Toyota OE provider
I have a 2006 Toyota RAV4. I replaced all the 5 TPMS sensor over the years from discount tire for $55 each. if that helps. Working fine for 5 years. One thing to let you guys know even the spare tire has TPMS sensor. Sometimes TPMS light is on because of the spare tire.
my 2010 toyota Rav 4 is my Horse, I water it, feed it, give it new shoes when she needs it, Tory is one heck of a lovely steed, and i intend on keeping her that way
@David Moore Yep, the most incredibly abusive things I've seen a vehicle go through and still be "operable" up until the unsurvivable. It was a shame to see that RH drive beauty annihilated, but not sure a Tacoma, Tundra or any of the "big 3" would have passed even round 1, and for sure not beyond. And I've been a pretty loyal F-150 guy for over 40 years.
I have a 2003 Rav4L with 120,000 miles on it. I have been the only owner and it has never been hit. I have taken great care of it and A couple of years ago I had to replace the computer. Car is always parked in a garage, so very little rust. Everyone wants to buy it but I won't sell. Drives like a dream. The 2003 model was the last model with a short wheel base which means there is very little sliding in the snow. Everything works on it. I plan to be driving it for the next 10 years or so.
I got 2010 rav4. 120k miles. Last year I was thinking trade in n get a new car. Now thanks to this video I going to keep it as long as I can. Every time when I am craving for new car I watch your videos I immediate clam down. Thanks Scott!!
Back in 2004 my uncle paid $23,000 for his Tundra brand new, fast forward to now it has 453,955 miles, original 4.7 V8 and transmission , so yes Toyota's are indestructible.
Your uncle know whats up tundra is battle tested vs USA cannons,b used in syria and afghanistan. Us forces will just blow them up them beard boys will just roll it over back up and ready to go🤣 hey sound crazy watch them old news 🤣 us made truck like ford silverado gm dodge they get blown out on the movie 1 pice of Tire left rolling the rest is on fire to pieces🤣🤣
Had to retire my 86 hilux with 460k frame rust killed it. Sold the 22r to a Guatemala dude for 600$ The 22r motor was the longest lasting motor they ever made
My Mom's 2006 4 cylinder Rav 4 still runs fine just had to change the gear box and blew a gasket recently. It still runs good. Toyota are the real Mechanical Engineers.
I had a 2011 RAV4 and it had 150,000 before it was t boned. We had it since new, and it drove like it did from 30k miles. I’m convinced most Toyota’s get totaled in accident before mechanical issues. We got $10,000 a few years ago for it from insurance
This is my first car. it is my absolute pride and joy. It is very useful for hobbies, camping , work commute , etc. Hopefully when it dies out i’ll be able to just put in a new engine 😂 no major problems thus far except for getting the fuel oxygen sensors replaced
If you can find a low-miles 1997-9 model and you don't mind a slow car, that car is a good one. Had it so long (>20 years) I finally got sick of it and bought a Prius Prime.
In the past I had a 08 but with the nice trim package paid 5k for it similar mileage to this one. The thing ran great. Great in the snow and plenty of room inside and if you get a v6 model they go pretty dam good for a rav lol just a tad under 300hp if memory serves me.
avoid the 2006-2009 models. design flaw with those engines and were shared among Corollas, their Scion, among other vehicles of that production period.
@@gregtucker7228 unless you have the oil consumption recall done. They replaced the pistons ,rings, rods, etc. Good to go after that no more oil consumption issues
Hey Scotty when we do sensors, we just push the bead in with a machine and change it, no need to rebalance! Also we put in rebuildable ones so if the stem goes bad it costs less.
TPMS just saved me buying a new 235/45-R17 tire. I had just driven 100 miles without any issue, and when I wanted to drive again 2 hours later, the TPMS went off and said the pressure was only 9 psi in the rear right tire, which I couldn't see when walking to the car. The culprit was a 3 inch long 1/4" screw with broken off head. I got the tire plugged from outside with one of the illegal shoestring plugs and drove 200 miles home, and thnks to TPMS, I could see that the pressure followed the other rear tire.
I agree. My mom had one for years and drove it personally for 260k. Changed brakes once or twice along with plugs and did have the oil useage issue but Toyota fixed it under recall! Absolute beast of a vehicle! Hands down coming for early 2000s full size gm vibes.
I had a 1981 Celica Supra. I let my mom borrow it for a long trip. On her way home, she was rear ended by an 18 wheeler. She was able to drive it home despite have no back light or side lights and a bent frame. The insurance adjuster said that by all rights my mom should be dead where all she had was a sore neck. It was one of my favorite cars of all time but it did it's job, it saved the occupant(s) and made it home. It deserved better.
In this crazy car market that is an insane deal, i would take that all day long, if i decided i really liked the rav4 i might repair the damage. I see garbage going for higher prices than this. i own a 2008 corolla with almost 260000 miles, the paint clear coat is immaculate.
Got a 2011 FWD Rav4 with 57,000 miles. Paid $9500 for it. Pricey, but I knew the one owner, and know everything that has ever happened/been done to it. We both won, I think.
When I put new tires on my car at Costco. The TPM sensors were $45 each. Since they were pulling the tires they didn't charge to install them. They can calibrate them.
I like these little catching Toyota phrases. Only 115 miles on it. Funny, when I go to junk yard I see rows and rows of Toyotas. Just as many as other makes. Some people can maintain anything. Others can't keep pet rock alive. Most don't keep vehicle long enough to change oil. Which means any vehicle will last through lease or warranty expires.
I purchased a really clean 2010 Rav4 Sport in early 2019. I absolutely love that car, and with the V6 engine, it is a rocket. I had Falken Wildpeak tires installed and those tires coupled with the four wheel drive make it and excellent combination on poorly maintained dirt roads. I only have one complaint which is that part of the sunroof mechanism rattles when driving on bumpy roads. I will be driving that car for a long time!
I drive one of these, V6 4WD. Got mine with extremely minor cosmetic damage. Runs like a dream. Really fun to drive. 170k miles and not a single issue. Cannot recommend them enough.
my first car was a 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix, it had a buick engine! my dad taught me how to replace the valve cover gaskets because they were leaky! I had that car for almost 10 years!!!! thank you for your awesome videos!!! very good information!!! lots of love to you Scotty Kilmer!!!
I had one of these, gave it to a daughter. The tire pressure light could be any of the tires low including the spare, my spare was low and triggered the light.
I have the 08 version, same color and everything. In 245,000 miles I have replaced 1 alternator, 1 valve cover gasket, and 1 water pump. Still runs like a champ.
I've always liked RAV4s even this generation but the owner sure drove the living hell of this car all wrecked with rusted hubs but it's a Toyota will never left them stranded on side of road.
I got a 2017 Corolla that was hit in the same door. It still seals and drives straight. An unwrecked one is worth at least 3x what I paid for it. It's on the passenger side. I never see that side anyways 😂 I might replace the door one day if I can find one at the junk yard.
My daughters is a 2006 with 184,000 plus miles. The lady that had never did nothing to the car. Had to put $800 to get it running pretty ( paid $1800 for it ). They are great little SUVs even when neglected
My dad had a square body dodge hit a rock head on twisted the frame destroyed the truck but the motor never quit running could never be fixed but it still started like it was new
I have a 99 with 120k in ohio. Sub frame has rust holes and seems to be leaking a lil coolant sometimes.. i tow a trailor with it too. what repairs have u done?
I had an 09 and loved it. Especially the AWD. A family member took ownership when I upgraded. Immediately the water pump went out. The struts died. The paint started chipping. Not the Rav4's fault. Aggressive driving, hitting every pothole, and......apparently, washing it with dish soap. 🤬
Great vid. We bought a clean, straight 2004 RAV4 for $2900. Have had to replace tires, fuel pump and the brake master cylinder (by the way, that rebuilt master cylinder from NAPA is already going bad. I'm thinking the OEM, Toyota at $450 is the better way to go) Car's got 175,000 and runs great. Put a hitch on it and it pulls our 15 ft boat great.
@@KT-ed8hj the owner was asking 3000 and was negotiating with a guy who wanted to give her 2600. I offered 2900. Sold. Great little car. Clean clean inside. In 1 year I've replaced a battery, fuel pump, brake master cylinder and added a trailer hitch. It pulls my 15 ft boat great, gets 30 mpg.
Wow! Now that's a great deal there. It's not even broken in yet. I would have given twice as much for it. My 2010 V6 3.5 4x4 Rav is simply breathtaking. Theres nothing quite like it as it has the appearance package upgrade and chrome as well. One in a million. The torque is incredible on the V6 and luckily I have the 4x4 to reduce steering torque from the power of this thing. I've been sold on rav4's for years because they are versatile and reliable no frills fun. Oh what a feeling.
Just picked up a 2010 v6 limited with 240k miles. Runs like new and the interior is in fantastic shape. Love the car and features. The V6 powers the car along great!
And you might have guessed it, the tpm light comes on a lot. I think it’s the front left tire. Because when I put a air gauge on it, once it was like 24, should be about 32 psi. I’m getting a portable air inflator tomorrow. Hopefully that holds me until I go for my next service call at Toyota.
Have a 2009 V6 one of these, 236,000 miles. Still runs great, Just need to get a worn wheel bearing replaced ($250ish where I live. Nothing bad, just age.) Runs great
Wow what a steal for $1000 bux! I'd spend $100 on some paint match spray cans, primer and a can of Body filler and go to town with my hammers and sandpaper. Have fixed much worse
Wife had a 2011 rav4 sport. I want that 3.5l engine in every car I own. We put gas, oil, spark plugs, tires, and I replaced one o2 sensor in it. Broke 100k miles and she was still in her prime. Sold it to get a 2019 sienna with the 3.5l. Biggest gripe iv got on the sienna is the cheap plastic covers over the folding rear seats. They always pop off and break. Toyota is all I buy.
hey scotty i sure do agree with you about toyota rav 4 because here in southern california i bought mine since 2010 its my daily driver and i have 75k miles still running like it should be and i also have a 2015 tacoma .
Nightmares about the Maui PD stealing my 95 sr5 4rnr. Ill never be the same. That truck out lasted 2 wives and 123 girlfriends because she was my true love. Poor poor 3vze engine though. 3.slow.
Appreciate the "no" vote on fixing the TPMS on our 2006 Toyota. The light's been on since we bought it 3 years ago. Checking the pressure manually - ya, I think we can handle that!
TPMS just saved me buying a new 235/45-R17 tire. I've owned a Toyota Avensis here in England for a few good, reliable years before eventually trading it in for a C220 Merc. We also own a Fortuna at our 2nd home in Thailand, which is a Thai/Australian SUV based on a Hilux and has been good. Tomorrow, I pick up a Toyota Alphard MPV due to an unexpected 3rd child as the Merc is not roomy in the back seats.
I have a 2006 generation of the Toyota RAV4. At 200,000 miles my original engine started leaking oil everyday. Then I had the engine replaced with an imported Japanese 61,000 mile Toyota engine. No oil leaks, regular maintenance and I just maintained it since then. Scotty is right about Rav4 and they run excellent!
my son has a2008 civic 1.8 liter. That gen. had many engine's crack as his did at 170,000 We put in a JDM Japan engine over the summer. total cost $2000. That was a DIY'er with a lot of help here on YT. Just wondering what you pd.
I'm glad I saw this video. My husband got my salvaged '06 Rav4 at Copart . It's mostly fixed up now and only a couple issues with misfirings, so I hope eventually I'll get to save enough cash to fix that part up or at least a "new" refurbished engine eventually. My dream truck is way out of financial reach but maybe in 5-10 years I'll get to get a nice used one.
@@miguelrayos5776 Thank you so much! Yes husband or Firestone or my private mechanic often do that for my car after reading the codes and they check the coils and spark plugs. But once it's change then it's always better . How about sometimes the oil leaks into my coils? What does that mean ? The other part is I had most of the valves replaced and even changed the oil that I put in to Pennzoil because Pennzoil seems to last the longest since my engine burns up oil so fast ...even after a 4 to 6 hour car ride and then I have to refill the oil again. I know that's an issue for the year and make of my car

Rav 4s are extremely in high demand! This person got a freaking steal!

Right on the money
I will probably buy one soon, any specific things the mechanic should check?
My son still has it with about 150 miles on it .Still great vehicle. I heard earlier years had issues with piston ring wear. BTW this one is front wheel drive not all wheel drive. Hope this helps.
Sorry make that 150 thousand miles.
My 04 Rav still runs like a dream!

I put aftermarket TPMS sensors on my 2009 Acura RL for $150. Works with computer just fine. No need to buy OEM

That low of mileage I would be going to the local LKQ and get all the parts and definitely restore it and have it painted, what a great deal.

I have fixed a few cars where I bought used sheet metal parts that were painted the same color as my car. It was great!
I purchased a really clean 2010 Rav4 Sport in early 2019. I absolutely love that car, and with the V6 engine, it is a rocket.
