That's cool! It's a pleasure to work with you! The Pyro 7 and Pyro S are our star products. Our team will update the firmware soon and hope you all like them! Any feedback for our products are welcomed! :)
When a product test is so genuine and smartly put that it doesn't look like a sponsored / collab video. Thx I wake every morning thinking i don't have F1 yet, and I know that one day i'll end up in jail for that.
As a solo filmmaker, I'm currently looking at this solution, I'm also curious on the DJI SDR product, anyways, your video has a perfect timing :) Love the hard work you put on them, clearly one of my best sub this year!
Hey thanks so much! What I like about these is the integrated wireless built into the monitors. That’s what I bought years ago, and it’s super useful to have it built in. One less piece needed. Time saver. Of course everyone will have different needs. I would also love to test the DJI SDR, as well as the new acsoon. These 3 new options are all strong contenders at great prices. At the moment I’ve only used the hollyland gear, I like it.
I have the DJI SDR I have a test video on soon. They are super good and love that I can use my iPad as a directors monitor with a crisp good quality feed. For £500 for rx/rx kit it’s an absolute steal! I’m guessing the benefit of the Hollylands here is you can run two tX units into a monitor for A/B feeds which may be more use for bigger sets etc. But with DJI having hdmi and sdi options for connections I’m super impressed. Great video Blaine, felt like I was watching a chase film! INTENSE!
@@BlaineWestropp1 Yup. I was the guy who was talking about it with you in the last video comments. Any chance you let anyone intern under you if they shoot BTS or something? I'm in NJ.
I've been considering picking up a wireless solution like this for a while now. Lately I've just been using the Creators App on my phone with my FX30, which is fine for when I'm shooting at home by myself, but it's still been kinda annoying because it disconnects every time the screen goes to sleep. And obviously, for client shoots using my phone as a monitor to hand it to someone is out of the question... But after this vid I might seriously consider the Hollyland route. Looks pretty sick.
These are great. Connection is very solid which is nice. For phone apps, have you use the monitor+ app? In my experience I find that was the best one for use with Sony fx cameras.
@@BlaineWestropp1 Haven't used Monitor+ though I did think it was interesting a while back. Back then I was still on my old phone which was an Android though and I believe at the time the app was only available for iOS. And since getting the iPhone 15 Pro, I haven't really thought about Monitor+ but I might just pick it up. Does it disconnect every time you turn the screen off because that's probably the biggest issue I'm dealing with on the Creators App? Just really annoying to have to manually reconnect to the cam every time...
The disconnecting/reconnecting with phone apps is SO annoying. I can’t remember if monitor+ drops out when phone goes off but I can test tomorrow. It does disconnect, I just found it to be better than other phone app experiences. But they all drop out. 😭
i use the monitor+ on my fx3. the initial connection is a bit hit or miss . but once its connected it is very reliable and the interface is much better than the creators app.
Always on time with your content. I'm in the market for something like this so I can do a village and directors monitor soon. Hoping this is the best option for under $700.
I think it’s a great option. There are 3 new units on the market. This, DJI SDR, and something from acsoon. This is the only one of the 3 I’ve used, and I like it a lot. I like the integrated wireless within the monitors. I know DJI has the long range, and I don’t know much about the acsoon. Would love to test all of them, but for now this one is very nice.
Used a variety of lenses here. Atlas mercury 36, sigma 24-70, rokinon 12mm fisheye and last but certainly not least was a canon digital laser range finder.
Did you dial up the barrell distortion after my comment?? Looking good, I love the integrated wireless monitors. I hate extra clutter on the camera. I'm actually pretty surprised camera companies aren't making integrated high quality wireless video feeds at this point.
Dope! What lens camera combo was used for the main talking head on this one? I love the almost fisheye look. Looks a bit wider than a 16mm to me. Whatever action camera you had mounted on the monitor for the field stuff did great too. Love your work!
hi! me talking to the camera was an Alexa mini LF with an atlas mercury 36mm lens. the action cam on the monitor was the insta360 go 3, which comes in handy pretty often.
I do have a video on this channel about buying stuff! for someone just graduating, I'd buy an Alexa classic or a red scarlet-w on Ebay, or an fx3 and a 24-70 lens. depends what type of work you want to do and how you want to do it. fx3 will be the more modern, versatile, and easy to move around with option.
Love That Video, feels like a Crime Series in the begining. Do you have any experience in comparison with a small hd 7 cine ? I cant find any comparison between the Panels and the lut Rendition between this two. Would love to get away with two pyros 7 (on Camera and Director) instead of one small hd.
Thank ya! I also have a cine7 that I use all the time. I’ve done 3 shoots with the pyro over the cine7 (just for the range and the strong connection, and I was perfectly fine using the pyro on camera.
Well I’m not saying get the pyro instead. There are advantages of both systems. Cine7 and an industry standard, no latency with the teradek, but expensive. Pyro 7 is newer, but was a great price and is nice to use.

Thanks again, always love your videos, chill & informative 👍
Hey! Yes you do not need the dedicated TX or RX. Monitor sends feed to other monitor without needing anything extra. Also, the monitors can be receivers or transmitters, which is amazing.
Thanks for sharing. I am assuming the Monitor is not able to control the camera? That would be wild! What anamorphic lens did you use for the talking head?
Hi! There is not camera control that I know of. There may be a way to record the camera from the monitor, but I am not sure. I can look into it and report back.
@ If I‘m not mistaken, Portkeys just announced a monitor that is able to control a few cameras. Though I don‘t know, whether that‘s achieved via HDMI, it would be wild, if that functionality would be passed on wirelessly (can’t imaging that it would, though).
For sure using camera frame lines on something that can output them over SDI/HDMI but on the fx3, I can’t, so then have to do it in the monitor. I have to assume it’s easy to add a scaling feature to the monitor frame lines. You can scale the frame lines in the iPhone app.
You could try running an ethernet powerline adapter from inside your house out to the garage, and connect the ethernet out of the 2nd powerline adapter (in the garage) to a router in the garage to get wifi there perhaps 👍
