    Yes, the Doona is expensive, but that's the good thing about a registry especially ones like Amazon where you can do group gifting.

    Thank you for mentioning the Doona height issue! Also the Doona is not approved in Canada, which has stricter safety standards than the US. I am trying to verify safety is the actual reason.

    I think the Doona is also great for people who live in cities, who maybe don’t have a car, but take Uber or Lyft. I’ve also heard people say they like it for situations where baby is riding in the grandparents or a nanny’s car, since it doesn’t need a car seat base and the stroller is built in. I don’t have one, but have friends who went this route and like that it was a solution for particular situations where a traditional car seat didn’t make sense.

    We had our little one this January and he had a colicky period when he was around 2 months. My husband wanted me to get the SNOO but frugal me refused to spend that much $$$ on something we would only use a couple of months. Well, he starting sleeping through the night at 2.5 months and puts himself to sleep at night now. Totally understand parents if they want to rent a few months to help them get through truly colicky babies but I just cant justify the price.

      My son had a dairy allergy, he had horrible stomach issues. For three months my PED said he was basically just difficult as none of us got any sleep, it was torture. As soon as we resolved his allergy and changed his formula he slept great. His special formula was pricey as it was, I’m glad we fought it out and I doubt the Snoo would’ve done anything for a baby with a tummy ache.

    We had friends swear by the snoo, so we got one last year. Our baby came a month early however and had reflux. The snoo’s leg extensions were always out of stock, so we ended up using large tuna cans under the snoo to elevate it. Didn’t help. Our snoo became an expensive laundry basket. We bought another bassinet that hooked to our bed and that worked out better.

    We were gifted the Doona as first time parents and it is fantastic! It makes everything so much easier. Only downside we can see is our baby is long and will probably grow out of it before he hits the weight limit.
    We also have the owlet and have never taken it out of the box. We just use a WiFi free camera and watch our little guy.

  • @trevor_corey8037

    Just so people understand- the owlet is a pulse ox. Pulse oximetry is standard in hospital. However, the owlet I’s not medical grade pulse ox
    The nanit tracks mechanical chest rises.
    For preemies and newborns , pulse oxes are better.
    Because my twins had specific breathing issues I’m going with owlet . But if your babe never did the Nanit has pro’s.

    I think I’ve found you from your baby registry video! My little beans 7 months old now :p I wish I would have listened to you and didn’t buy the crib! Or at least didn’t put it together yet bc it is a 4 in 1, and it’s just taking up space in her small room. I like the Doona but it is a hefty price tag since I got a whole travel system from Graco for around $200.

    • @VS-re1sr
      @VS-re1sr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just figured this out, but yes this needs to be made more straightforward! You will need to contact your insurance company to see what their particular hoops are.
      Also, you may want to consider what replacement parts are covered: I excluded one brand because I would have to pay $60 out of pocket to replace a part up to every other week!

  • @laurensavage5798

    I just have so many concerns with the Snoo/Happiest Baby philosophy. Babies wake up to feed in the night. By instantly rocking them back to sleep, the Snoo contributes to underfeeding and improper weight gain. Idk, any machine that is built to replace the care provided by the parent concerns me.
    Also, the AAP and WHO recommend room sharing for at least the first year. I think a bedside bassinet is just a much better option than all of these high tech babysitters.
    I've heard that many mom's get so annoyed with the false alarms from the Owlet that they just turn it off. And then if there's a real emergency, you have no idea.
    Again, I just think the best option is for parents to sleep near their kids and respond when they try to communicate via crying. In an ideal world, parents would have 1 year parental leave so that they can do this. I get that not everyone has access to that, which is where these devices get their market. I just don't think they are the best possible option for baby.

    Another potential issue with the Snoo is it can teach babies that they need a prop to fall/stay asleep. What happens when they grow out of it and have to go to a non-moving crib? They will be used to being moved between sleep cycles and may have issues putting themselves back to sleep... I’d be curious to hear if parents struggled to keep their baby asleep after they were unable to use the Snoo!

    We love the snoo. We got it at 6 weeks and I think it’s worth it. I also really like that the snoo sack secures him on his back as he was rolling on his side before. We had a halo before. I have a willow and hate it, it’s huge and very uncomfortable.

    I spent my own $$$ on the Willow pump but I would Soo do it again! It took a bit of a learning curve but I think it was worth the extra bucks. the convenience is great for traveling. And I liked that I had the option to use their pump bags or reusable containers. I work as a dental hygienist and I would wear it all day. It would freak patients out a little and they would ask what that pumping noise was. 😂 I didn't care..."you want to buy my formula? No? Okay, enjoy my sounds of my milk shells!" Lol

    I had always said I wanted the Doona. Then we found out we were having twins and I just couldn’t get myself over $1,000 for them. We ended up getting the contours double stroller that you can also click the car seats into. I’m glad I didn’t get the Doona because my boys outgrew the infant car seat before they were 6 months old. It would have been a waste of money in my opinion if your kids grow quickly.

    As functional as the Doona seems, my fiancé and I are on the taller side and I’ve heard from multiple reviews that this stroller definitely requires you to hunch a little. For that reason, I’d have to pass on it. We currently have an Uppababy Vista and the handle bar can be adjusted to a higher level, so it’s perfect for us! Also very convenient to use.

      Yes, that’s also one of the reasons I don’t really like the Doona 😅
      I’m not that tall but my partner is and I don’t think he would be able to walk comfortably with the Doona. It also just looks too low on the ground in general and my mind is always thinking the stroller/car seat is going to break just by touching the sidewalk lol

    Thank you for your videos! Watching you helped me build up my baby registry. I have the graco sense 2 snooze bassinet, and unfortunately my baby does not like it. My baby got used to sleeping in the small bassinet in the pack and play, but he outgrew it (he's 3 months now) and I'm kind of "making him" sleep in the graco bassinet to the best of my ability. He sleeps in it for a few hours but when it's completely off, so basically in my case, it made all its functions useless. Not saying it's a bad product, just share your opinion, every baby is their own person. My advice to any new mom is to buy the essentials only and wait until your baby is here so you can buy what fits their personality 💜

    Agree with you on the SNOO - we got it, thinking the huge cost would be worth it for added sleep… cut to us coming home with a baby who absolutely DESPISED being swaddled 😅 (the whole point of the SNOO is swaddling and strapping in baby). It quickly turned into an incredibly expensive laundry basket. Fantastic in theory… if your baby likes to be swaddled 🤪

    The Snoo worked great for us. We had some trouble transitioning away from it, but it was worth all the extra sleep I got in the first few months. Here’s the thing if you want to buy a Snoo: buy it used from the FB marketplace, then resell afterwards. Between my purchase cost and my resell cost I ended up spending $150 for 6 months of use.

    I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my doona! It is so amazing!! Budget hack! You can register for it and use your completion discount on it! The only cons I would say are that it is only an infant carseat. So, once they meat the height or weight limit, they have to transition! It also does get heavy as your baby gets older, but you only have to lift it for like 30 seconds a trip! It also doesn't open slowly like the commercial leads on! It is abrupt and loud! But overall WORTH the $400 I paid!

  • @dvo1060

    I wouldn’t get the Doona because it’s not recommended for baby to spend longer than 2 hours in a car seat in a 24hr period. Also in the doona baby can’t lay flat. Which is crucial for a newborn spin development.
    Also baby sleeping in a car seat increases the risk of sids.
    Basically I don’t think it’s a safe stroller option

    • @annasaussieanimals4678
      @annasaussieanimals4678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laying flat isn't actually beneficial for newborn spine development. It stretches out the natural C curve of the newborn spine and puts pressure on it. Car seats aren't beneficial either but laying them flat isn't the answer.

      @@annasaussieanimals4678 laying flat is the safest to avoid positional asphyxiation, which is the danger of using car seats especially outside the car

    • @annasaussieanimals4678
      @annasaussieanimals4678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ekatiemo for sure, its just not crucial for baby's spine development. Positional asphyxiation is mainly a danger when using a seat incorrectly like sitting it on the ground since it changes the angle and the restraints dont hold the baby in the way they are designed to do. Its definitely the safest idea to limit how much time babies are in seats and lay them flat if they are sleeping somewhere that isn't being held. I generally babywear which is a good all round option.

    Agree about the Lumi by Pampers completely scares me the placement of it. That can’t be a good idea! We did have Owlet and plan on using it again I had bad anxiety too. I finally was able to sleep. The fact it’s on the foot like a normal infant pulse-oximeter doesn’t bother me. The Nanit does look cool though. The way the Snoo rocks freaks me out! Lol The way the babies heads shake in it plus breaking the habit of that must be a pain. Lastly, the Doona as cool as it is. The are urging people to not let babies spend large amount of times in car seats outside the car because it’s bad for their spine and neck. Most importantly it can cause positional asphyxiation especially if they are not strapped in properly outside the car because it’s not the same angle installed in a car. Not only that but your going to end up buying another stroller once they outgrow it. So how much are you really saving? As far as high tech baby gear I definitely think the Owlet and Nannit are awesome especially if you deal with postpartum anxiety. You just can’t solely relay on them. You still need to use safe sleep practices and like any technology expect glitches every once in a while. It doesn’t replace a human. One fancy high tech baby gear I do have but not mentioned is I also have the Mamaroo and really like it but you can also get away with any baby swing. It’s just nice to have. Like any of this stuff it depends on how you use it and your preferences.

    We have a pack and play for our room until baby moves upstairs into his crib when he's a little older. I think the SNOO is more "extra" than anything. Plenty of generations went without it and survived. Team Doona, I wish we had had one. They’re also safer as car seats bc of the way the wheels sit folded. We plan on one for our next kid. Snoo is a no for me, it’s better they fall asleep on their own and for my son who had an actual dairy allergy we just didn’t know about fir the first few months it would’ve done nothing to solve his issues. And he hated his bassinet with a passion, he preferred his crib from two months on, it stressed me out him in another room, we have a mini crib at my in laws on wheels, that’s going to be our bassinet fir baby two.

    The only way I could justify the Doona is if it was my first child, I planned on having more but not too close together, and I had a lot of extra cash lying around. I don’t like schlepping the infant bucket past 6 months or so (I have a bad back and find hefting it in and out of the car painful), so it’s use would be limited. I used a stroller frame with my twins (numbers 4 and 5), and it was amazing.

      Disney allowed the stroller wagons at first, as long as they were pushed, but they turned out to be super rough on foot traffic congestion in the parks, and people cheated and pulled them all the time, which led to other visitors being rolled over a lot. So, as usjh, some rude people ruined it for everyone.

    The doona is a great concept but height/weight limitations make the price not conducive. Goes up to 28 lbs but only 32 inches. Now we are tall people BUT my 4 month old is 27 1/2 inches making this 500$ stroller maxed out at 6 months. I'd rather buy a stroller system that I can use with infant seat and then use the toddler seat after.

    Personally I don't think that stroller/car seat is worth it. Because I didn't see that it grows with your child. So it would be only useful for a small time frame.

      @@benz1920 it’s essential when you travel and don’t want to be dealing with a big stroller at the airport. For a year of use I don’t think the price is too bad. That’s $42 a month, not bad. I guess if it doesn’t meet your lifestyle needs or budget, then it’s a bad purchase.

      It's something not needed but parents think they need it. It's really not that hard to get a stroller and/or hold ur child.

    i considered the doona but i dont like the yellow parts of it and my son is a little tall for 2 months so 500 for a stroller is a lot when im not using it for a long time

    How in the world did you pump while having twins?! I literally have 1 and had to quit BFeeding altogether bc her latch was bad and on top of that pumping was awful bc I couldn’t carry her or the pumps would move! Please explain bc I would like to try and BFeed if/when I have another baby.

    Would never buy the Doona. You'd have to buy another stroller as soon as baby outgrows the infant seat.

      Really depends on the parent. Once baby starts walking at 11-13 months, I know alot of families stop using strollers so it kinda works out anyway.

    Like you say, opinions are like a**holes so here's mine 😆1. I feel like the doona only works if you live in the city or the suburbs not in the country. I wouldn't assume it would work very well on gravel or grass, and it's too heavy to carry around, also the thought of dirty tires on my car seat all the time bothers me. 😆 2. I think you have to like wean kids off of the constant movement of the snoo... yikes. For over a thousand dollars I don't want to make extra work for myself! 3. I've never used a portable breast pump BUT I've read alot of reviews that say they aren't nearly as strong as a normal medical grade pump and don't get near the amount of milk either, so what's the point of that? 4. I've also seen where the owlet BURNT a babies foot!!!
