Thanks for watching! Are you planning on going back here anytime soon? I went like 2 years ago and it wasn't like this. We have more water this time around.
@@O4lo Definitely want to make a trip soon -- let me know if y'all got any more trips planned -- I have a Land Cruiser (LC100) and RAM Power Wagon, done the trail with both of them before but it has been a year at least. I'm in the Los Angeles area but my biggest challenge is finding people to roll with, don't wanna get stuck solo lol.
My family used to take us up to monache meadows in the 70s on dirt bikes for many years we would be up there.made the river crossing many times.we even stayed a week up there horse back.5hanks for the video, brings back good memories.p.s i had my first beer at the kennedy meadows store
Nicely done Vid. I'm one of the lucky folks that live up here in the KRV. I hit Monache a couple times a year to fish the Interspecies dam. For me it's only a couple of hours to get there. For another really nice area, try Big Meadow.
Super cool to see that RAM out there. Was it a Power Wagon? And did I spot a Sequoia on 35s? I have a JLU myself but I love seeing vehicles other than your typical Wrangler/4Runner/Bronco doing cool trails. Buddy of mine is trying to get me to get a side-by-side like a RZR but I was all "if I got something that size I'd get a Mahindra Roxor" because I love unique rigs. Also, the food looked amazing. Filipino kebabs?
Lol, I don’t remember a RAM in our group. I think that was Toyota Tundra. I see plenty of side by side here. I think they camp before coming down here and just using the side by side to explore. Yes thoes are the filipino BBQ 🤣🤣
@@O4lomy best friend's wife is Filipino and his MIL has made the best BBQ and spring rolls I've ever had in my life so I'm jealous. I swear it was a RAM but I may be crazy. Looked like a good trip.
Hey, watsup 404. If that is still your license plate, lol. Your Subaru can make it down Monache. I didn't see one this time around. Going out might have a little problem.
@04lo Great video. Is there a resource that oultines the routes you all took and the camp locations you specifically stayed at? Family friends and I want to give it a crack in summer.
I don't think that resources exist. Once you get to the trailhead, it's pretty much self-explanatory leading to the Meadows. As far as camping, you can pretty much camp anywhere that is designated (first come, first serve).
Wow that water! This might be a stupid Q but I am new to overlanding. Are you in 4 wheel drive all the time when going through the trails and does water get into anyone's cad on those deep crossings? Bty beautiful footage!
Thanks for watching! Regarding the 4WD question, It just depends on the trail. I mostly use 2WD in all dirt roads (flat fire roads). I use 4H when I'm doing high-speed loose surfaces like the sand dunes. If I need to go thru obstacles or any low-speed crawl such as navigating to a steep section or a rock garden, then I use 4LO. Depends on your vehicle, you just need to get a feel for it.
@O4lo thanks for the reply. I'm in a 2x4 tacoma, with upgraded suspension and tires. I've seen people do it before with the same setup, but I was curious how the climb out is especially after the rains.
@O4lo hey! So just got back from Monache this afternoon. My 2x4 taco did just fine coming out. Just aired down the rears to 30psi, clicked the Trac Off with Auto LSD, and motored on up. Even that last rocky uphill didn't give me too much trouble.
@O4lo maybe driver skill had a but to do with it. I used to race motocross, so understanding lines and traction is second nature to me. I came out unscathed from mosquito bites. Didn't see many.
You can camp any open area that looks like a camp, haha. First come, first serve, tho. I suggest you go like Thursday or Friday so you can get the camp by the river.
Very nice vid! Do you know if theres a place we can leave our truck overnight and drive our side x side to the campsite? Thanks in advance for your response.
I think close to the trailhead or less, maybe a mile going in. You will see a big opening where you can leave your truck (some trailers around here) Just make sure no valuables left inside the truck.
@O4lo thanks for the quick response going tommrow after work through the weekend I have a waterproof filter wrap so gonna throw it on just gonna take it slow and not blast through it
I want to head up with the family for Labor Day. We plan to head up Thursday or Friday. Do we need to get permits or make reservations. I see the official website mentions permits for certain areas, just want to make sure. Great video guys.
No permit or reservation is needed. It might be packed due to Labor Day weekend. I suggest you guys head up Thursday and secure your spot. Hope you guys have a great time:)
Kevin, I dont want to steal the credit, but it was Jon Punzalan who got us that campsite.😊
Oh shoot! Sorry! Sorry! I didn't know!
Thabk you Kuya @Jon Punzalan for securing our campsite.
It's so nice to see Monache Meadow having so much water! Those rivers are flow...great adventure man.
Yes! It's way different from the last time I went. Last time was like drought, lol!
Great video! So much more water in the crossings than when I went last summer. Love to see it :D

@MrXerxes bro join us on our facebook page (Overland4lo). Some of the guys are planning a trip back here, they know how to wheel so you will be okay.
Kevin, this is your best video yet. Beautifully done!
Aww! Thank you so much! Trying to improve on every video.
Great video, Kev! Got such FOMO watching it! lol. The streams look amazing vs. when we went years ago.
Yea men! Wish you were here bro. I want that fishing footage. 😂😂
Can't wait to go there soon!! Awesome video Kevin 😁
Have fun on your Kuya, Jeff!

Those rivers crossings 🙌 Looks so beautiful out there! Nice video Kev!
Thanks, Kuya Rod! You should come and check this out during summer. That's the only time to go here. JP planning a trip somewhere in November I think.
were getting ready to go on our third time there with a big group loved this place and it was definitely my favorite camping in CA.
Awesome video Kris! Love it
Hey bro! Thanks for watching+
great video! Looks like I just barely missed you, we were up there too...would've loved some of that food!
Thanks for watching Doc! When did you guys go? This is where I met you 2 years ago, lol.

Thank you for watching! You are lucky to be living close by. I never heard of the Big Meadow, I'll do some reserch about it.
I’m hoping to explore soon with my stock 2016 lx570 33” tires. I need to learn from others first.
You will be able to make it here with that setup
Great to hear it, thanks!
can you camp anywhere to get a more secluded spot? or is it campgrounds only?
Yea you camp anywhere

Man that looks amazing man. Getting major FOMO from flat Texas. No Subarus at monache? I’m sure they have been there before.

Nice vid.. been to monache last year
Musta na sir? This is still my favorite camping spot. You should go again this summer.

@@O4lo Thanks for answering, much appreciated
What size tires are you running on your jeep?
37"
How's the trail condition coming out? Has the recent rains washed it out?
a little rutted out (long downhill) but still doable. Other than the Rocky section with optional Off-shoot. The rest is flat dirt road. 🙂

Awesome, bro! I bet you had a great time. I thought it was rutted for 2WD. Maybe you are just a better driver, hahaha! We're there alot of mosquitoes?
@O4lo maybe driver skill had a but to do with it. I used to race motocross, so understanding lines and traction is second nature to me. I came out unscathed from mosquito bites. Didn't see many.
Is a 4x4 required to go here or can I do it with my 2WD tacoma?
Highly recommend for 4x4. Trail conditions always changes. Going inside, I don't see any problem. Leaving monache might be challenging.
Nice video!
Nice video, I'd like to go next time. Do you need camping reservation boss?
Thank you for watching! No camping reservation.
@@O4lo Can you camp anywhere or are there spots you have to go to?

@O4lo thank you, was that location captured on your video? Have you seen side x side take the trail you guys took?
@ghiegomez I filmed it but I didn't include it in the final production.
How bad is the river crossing you did at the river campsites with a 4 inch lifted tacoma on 33s and no snorkel ?
My friend 4Runner is on a 3-inch lift and on 34" and no snorkel, but it might be higher because of the rain.
@O4lo thanks for the quick response going tommrow after work through the weekend I have a waterproof filter wrap so gonna throw it on just gonna take it slow and not blast through it
Have fun, bro! This is my favorite camping spot. Bring some mosquitoes replant. 😆✌️
It is illegal to disturb, pick or collect wildflowers.
Hey stay on the road. Your screwing up the terrain
