Sadly I see a young man that probably received little to no guidance from any sort of positive role model or parents in his life. @@onsetaugust I think the point is that that kind of care is eventually controlling because its not in his interests to have them tackle their underlying issue which is addiction born presumably from trauma. Its not freedom - its simply what looks like a better option. They will most likely naturally understand this when they are free from the need to mask their pain with substances and become clear. Whilst they all appear to look after each other now typically as dependency grows an addict will become more insular and more self centred - and that includes him. The route to freedom can only involve freeing yourself from addiction.

I’m a father of 3, 2 boys and a little girl, and it literally makes me tear up thinking about my daughter going into something like this. No matter what happens between their mother and I, I will always be a father to my kids. Always. I will never let them fall. These girls are feeling isolated and potentially a bit abandoned, plus they are both using mind altering drug/s (they mention crystal meth). So he may not be very smart but it doesn’t take much logic/intelligence to manipulate people in these situations, especially given they are really young too.
I think he’s “faking it till you make it”. Nothing that he’s saying is really profound or even smart. He’s just playing dress up and trying to find himself.
As far as manipulation, they both seem like they had a lot of trauma, they’re addicted to drugs, one of them had a ton of cuts on her legs- they’re just looking for anything and anyone to latch onto, for love + a fix.
Did you hear the same interview? They're methheads, and at least one of em already tried hooking by themselves. It's hard to be a methhead, while working enough to support your addiction and buy food and stuff. He takes care of all that for them. Dude buys their food, their drugs, and gives some semblance of backup in case stuff goes wrong.

@@onsetaugust I think the point is that that kind of care is eventually controlling because its not in his interests to have them tackle their underlying issue which is addiction born presumably from trauma. Its not freedom - its simply what looks like a better option. They will most likely naturally understand this when they are free from the need to mask their pain with substances and become clear. Whilst they all appear to look after each other now typically as dependency grows an addict will become more insular and more self centred - and that includes him. The route to freedom can only involve freeing yourself from addiction.
