Dang! I opened 266 packs and pulled all but 12 cards, all of which will cost me less than $20 to buy, and 1 of those 12 is the reverse holo Poliwhirl! I had great luck with 151. Batching is crazy, and it's why I set a limit of how many packs I'll open before stopping and buying/selling/trading for the others I need.
Honestly, my excitement died with the abysmal pull rates. I'll pick up a few cards (probably pay through the nose) but I doubt I buy a single pack of this set.
I don't do master sets, but I might do at least a semi-master set for this one where I have all the common cards and a handful of the more expensive/rare ones.
I opened about 210 packs this weekend and I am only missing 29 cards which I'll just buy singles for. Could have probably opened 100 and bought the rest cheaper but it was fun. Out of 210 only one gold and it was the energy of course

Pull rates suck in this set and Pokémon 151 will be printed into the ground .prices will definitely drop in this set the charizard sar looks like crap nothing special with this artist. Blastoise and Velasquez sar were perfect I’ll buy those 2 and save my money for paradox rift or raging surf Alakazam sar background is cool but Alakazam itself looks poorly drawn head looks weird asf side 2d sucks gold mew look at celebrations and that ones blue after the hype dies it will die crown zenith was a way better set
When it comes to this set, I absolutely love the illustration rares for it, but I wish they had done the masterball holo rares that they did for the JP version. I may just get the ones I want, but a full master set... not sure if I want to spend money on getting it.
Batching is a thing. I swear it is. eg. we pulled two Glaceon VMAX alt arts and 3 Golurk V alt arts out of a case of ES ETB's. I've seen weird stuff like this in other things as well. Speaking of weird cards that are hard to pull. We had the entirety of the normal set completed for Fusion Strike , (reverse holos, rare, holo rare, ultra rare, and full arts) before we finally pulled a common Pansage #7/264..
Stat wise I don't think a demi-god pack is a reasonable expectation for me, after a certain point I start buying singles and it's definitely before 1300 packs! Congratz on finishing the set though, my aim is to do the same, even if it's a lot more slowly. =P
I walked away from pokemon TCG after my stepmom threw away and gave away my collection 10 years ago and my sisters friends stole what I had left, but the 151 set got my interest, so I'm trying to jump back into it and gotta say your videos are helping a lot with knowledge about the current state of Pokemon TCG! Some Australian TH-camrs Kurt and Matt I think opened the demigod pack with the charizard line in the very first pack they opened of the 151 pack 😅 That’s pure luck 😂

A local LGS had these in early and we picked up several ETB's. Kids were so disappointed in that they got hardly any real hits. Just strange how Pokemon operates with very little rhyme or reason. Crown Zenith was awesome with hits. Obisdian Flames was crazy with hits. It seems like 151 is going to be quite different, so it will be interesting to see how the singles prices go, as well as if people get frustrated and slow down purchases of sealed product? I am guessing they are going to print the heck out of this set, but it will be interesting to see where the market goes with this. Still have no idea why they didn't have the master ball cards in the English set. That really makes no sense to me.
A master set would be tight to pull off. But idk about getting all that reverse holos or holos. I feel like having either or would be good enough for me. Like some cards being the common others being the reverse. As long as I have that 001 bulbasaur for example regardless of being holo or reverse or common
Going to wait on buying singles as this will be heavily printed going into the holidays + looking to get all common, uncommon, rares, reverse, and holos from my local card shop as they expect to get bulk trade ins. I’d rather pay a slight premium sorting thru bulk than opening 50 packs, let alone 500. As for the SIR and big hits, I will also wait for this set to settle down much like Crown Zenith did
Ripped a Poster box and 2 ETBs with my nephew this evening and hit a Demi-god pack containing the Bulbasaur line! We were hyped but now I’m psyched considering how rare they are!
Can someone explain to me why it takes 800 packs to get most of the master set or even more to get the full master set but the cost to buy a completed master set online is so low? 800 packs would be like $6400 AUD at launch and closer to $11,200 AUD today if you were to buy boosters at the cost they currently sell for here on average. But you can just buy the complete 151 master set with a binder right now for $1800-2000 AUD. How does that make sense value wise? I've opened 20x Mew UPC boxes valued at $4800 AUD, 6x Zapdos Boxes for $264 AUD and 2 Poster boxes for $72 AUD, so 350 packs of 151 total and was still missing like 6 reverse holos, 1 trainer card, like 5-6 full arts and 6 illustration rares including Venusaur and Charizard. So over $5000 but if I wanted to sell the full set I can only get max 2k... Even if the set was going to appreciate over time, I still feel the cost should more closely represent the cost it would take to pull everything yourself. Same with single cards.

When I put my binders together I ignore the list order for ex's and stuff so I group all the regular cards together with their reverse then ill do all the ex together ect keeps everything side by side and looks way nice IMO to just have a full page of exs
I believe you missed the 6 promo cards and 3 exclusive cards. I put bulbasaur best buy exclusive, squirtle (PC exclusive), and charmander(Gamestop Exclusive) next to their reverse holo versions. I put 3 full art promo cards of Snorlax and snorlax PC exclusive between no. 180 and no.181. I put Mewtwo and mew full art promo between 181 and 182. I put no201 and no.202 back to other illustration art too in order. Also, I put the 3 full art in evolution line together (charmander,charmeleon, charizard....)

Always been a Charizard fan, but never really collected Pokemon. Obsidian flames pulled me in and then I found out about 151. The only 151 I opened so far was the poster collection, but I pulled a Blastoise EX and a Giovanni's charisma. Also opened a Build & Battle obsidian flames and pulled my first-ever Charizard, it was the best one but I'll treasure it forever!
How much did you spend getting the hole set. Just wondering. They should really sell it like that. Playing the online version of the game. Says 4 max of each card. If you provide other player the cards 4+4=8 of each card to pick from. Deck of 60 cards. I guess build the decks you want. The cards are listed on the Pokemon site if looking at pictures is what you after. Would be cool to set up like the online game. Would need a store probably to do that. Lot's of trust maybe.
What are the packs like $6-7 give or take? Are you telling me you spent $8000-9000 for this set? No chance is ever consider doing that. For card board. They should just sell them as master sets. Would be much easier
1300 packs?? I think I’ve opened about 45 packs so far and I think I have about half the collection so far. I really want to complete it, but dang… I’m already about $300 into it so it’s a little discouraging to think I’d have to spend potentially thousands to complete the master set the old fashioned way. (PS - I got the nine tails ex in the first 5 packs 😊 and it’s one of my favorite cards so far)

So the binder won't hold a true master set, strike 1. I've also heard the pages themselves in the binder itself is of very inferior quality so that's strike 2. No master ball, strike 3. Top it off with the lousy quality of English sets... I'll buy a few cards that I like from the set but the Pokémon company has lost a very devout customer and I will not be back until they improve many things. Do better is all I can say to them. Can someone help me understand something please. What I don't understand about the "master set" is when collecting and following with the ETB and ticking away which cards you have. Do some cards not have a non Holo version ? For example vaporeon, flareon and jolteon. In order to complete the master set do you need a Holo and a Reverse Holo to actually fill the master set requirements? Or do you get 1 X non Holo and 1 X Reverse Holo OR Holo ? YES... But it's NOT "batching"... it's what is ready or is sent to the factory floor. I have done high-volume printing... i can tell you that there are materials that don't make it for the 1st run... and/or mistakes that happen on the 1st run. And, if they are using multiple factory locations like they used to...that makes it even more subject to missing components and errors. Plus, even after production gets going... shit happens and they may not have all the sheets/artwork files loaded... they will continue production since everything is randomized anyway and they're not promising us every card in every case. 😜 and, THAT is why i hated Evolving Skies... I got ZERO alt arts in an early whole case of Evolving Skies...along with Duplicates of several Rares in the same box. If some of what i DID get was great, i would have been fine with it... but that set had horrible pull rates, and when i did get something, it was often a yawner (like multiple Garbodors) grrrrrrr 😢

Says 4 max of each card. If you provide other player the cards 4+4=8 of each card to pick from. Deck of 60 cards. I guess build the decks you want. The cards are listed on the Pokemon site if looking at pictures is what you after.
Would be cool to set up like the online game. Would need a store probably to do that. Lot's of trust maybe.
Pulled a Charizard pack from my first UPC! Along with another Charmander illustration rare and a Mew Ex hyper rare. I couldn’t believe it.
What are the packs like $6-7 give or take? Are you telling me you spent $8000-9000 for this set? No chance is ever consider doing that. For card board. They should just sell them as master sets. Would be much easier
1300 packs?? I think I’ve opened about 45 packs so far and I think I have about half the collection so far. I really want to complete it, but dang… I’m already about $300 into it so it’s a little discouraging to think I’d have to spend potentially thousands to complete the master set the old fashioned way. (PS - I got the nine tails ex in the first 5 packs 😊 and it’s one of my favorite cards so far)

Man. It must be incredibly lucrative to open cards on camera for a living. 1300 packs is like 13,000 Canadian dollars.

So the binder won't hold a true master set, strike 1.
I've also heard the pages themselves in the binder itself is of very inferior quality so that's strike 2. No master ball, strike 3.
Top it off with the lousy quality of English sets... I'll buy a few cards that I like from the set but the Pokémon company has lost a very devout customer and I will not be back until they improve many things.
Do better is all I can say to them.

Can someone help me understand something please. What I don't understand about the "master set" is when collecting and following with the ETB and ticking away which cards you have. Do some cards not have a non Holo version ? For example vaporeon, flareon and jolteon. In order to complete the master set do you need a Holo and a Reverse Holo to actually fill the master set requirements? Or do you get 1 X non Holo and 1 X Reverse Holo OR Holo ?

YES... But it's NOT "batching"... it's what is ready or is sent to the factory floor. I have done high-volume printing... i can tell you that there are materials that don't make it for the 1st run... and/or mistakes that happen on the 1st run. And, if they are using multiple factory locations like they used to...that makes it even more subject to missing components and errors.
Plus, even after production gets going... shit happens and they may not have all the sheets/artwork files loaded... they will continue production since everything is randomized anyway and they're not promising us every card in every case. 😜
and, THAT is why i hated Evolving Skies... I got ZERO alt arts in an early whole case of Evolving Skies...along with Duplicates of several Rares in the same box. If some of what i DID get was great, i would have been fine with it... but that set had horrible pull rates, and when i did get something, it was often a yawner (like multiple Garbodors) grrrrrrr 😢
Man I love seeing master sets, just wish it was more affordable to actually open for them instead of needing to buy so many singles.
