Hi Paul! I finally figured out why I wasn't getting your videos. I had it on personal instead of all in the settings. Anyway, despite the cut, it was a nice shave. I remember you shaved with the Dovo shavette once before and you cut yourself. I am not an expert, but I have 174 shavette shaves and 185 traditional straight razor shaves. The reason why you have cut yourself is that you are not stretching your skin with your offhand. Stretching the skin gives you a flat surface for the razor to glide on your face or neck and that minimizes the cuts. DE shavers don't usually stretch their skin, so they carry that habit when they crossover to shavette/straight shaving. Most importantly, I will now get your videos on a regular basis. I know that you know how to shave, but I hope that I didn't offend you by stating what I saw as a problem with your technique. Have a great week.
Hi Paul- Great mid-week shavette shave; thank you! Very nicely done, indeed! Lovely flower arrangement by Mrs H; thank you! I hope you have a great rest of the week. Take good care and be safe and be well! See you on Sunday for the weekend shave. Best regards, as always, Paul!
Hi Paul I wasn’t expecting that but something different. I bought the brush for holiday use because of the drying properties. It was my first synthetic brush and wow was I surprised how good it was. Since then I have invested in a Simpson T3 and this has been my go to brush since I bought it. It’s fantastic and I will never doubt synthetic brushes again. Not sure about the razor think I’ll stick with my Rockwell for now not ready to cut my throat just yet. Excellent floral display by Mrs H she should take a bow. Again thank you very much for your time making the video. Keep safe.
I very much enjoyed your London video a while back. Hope Jeff is well. Good perspective for the average man like I’ve never seen before. Nice shave today. Sometimes, I think I can smell the flowers. 👍🏻
Nice shave Paul, have not used my shavette as of yet. I don't trust myself LOL. Lovely bit of sunshine in the bathroom today Mrs H thank you! SOTD. Razor: Rex Ambassador. Blade: Gillette silver blue 2nd use. Soap: Sterling Barbershop. Brush: Yaqi 24mm tuxedo knot barber pole. Post shave: Alum block, Burgundy woodspice moisturiser. Aftershave: Denim Musk. Thanks again for another great shave, take care my friend :-)
Good evening Paul! I always love the flowers; thank you Mrs. H for putting together these arrangements! You, sir, are have more courage than I when coming to shaving your own face using a straight razor/shavette. For years I practiced in the barber shop and for just as many years I'd cut into my face, usually on the chin for some reason. The blade would dig in and I would be afraid to proceed further. That said, I can give a professional straight edge shave without incident. My week has been survivable...lol. I was diagnosed with Gallstones and it is a source of pain. Covid virus prevents all but emergency surgery. Straight edge blade is very traditional, yet I prefer using a safety razor too. Honestly, I think you can get a closer shave with much more comfort and do it safely with a double-edge or single-edge razor handle. It is faster too! However, it is a good skill to have to be able to use a shavette. SOTD: King C Gillette razor loaded with a Brazilian Gillette Platinum Plus Bade (11th use). 1960 Williams Tonsorial shaving soap lathered with a That Darn Rob 26 mm BOSS synthetic brush. 3 pass plus pick-ups. The Razor and blade removed the whiskers with ease. The vintage Williams soap made a creamy and slick lather...wish they still made this soap. Finished with ice cold water rinse and Stirling Executive Man aftershave. Post shave was very smooth. Paul, you did a very nice job using the shavette. Thank you for sharing. Oh, Lidl...I loved going in there to buy breads...they had a nice selection. It is really nice to be able to know exactly where you are talking about and able to place myself there in my mind. After the virus, I will come again! Take care.
Stunning flower display by Mrs H today, yellow, white and purple. Just beautiful. Hats off to you Paul, brave man handling that shavette, steady and cool. I have a Parker SR1 and just used it twice, I admit I'm a bit scared of it and not enough confident to give it another go at this point... :) SOTD for me: Rockwell 6C plate 4, Derby Extra blade, Semogue 610 boar brush, Wickham 1912 Soap Co. Shangri La, Pitralon Classic after shave.
Morning Paul. I won't even try this razor. Nice shave. One pass would have been fine. Mrs. H out did herself with her display today. Enjoy the rest of the week.
Must try the Lidl aftershave. Thanks for the tip. Have ordered my first ever Shavette. It might even come in the post today. Never used one before...so wish me luck!
Great shave Paul and a good technique especially for someone who doesn't use a shavette regularly. Mrs H's flowers display is beautiful. Have a great evening. Very best regards Gordon.👍👌
Fantastic job, sir! You didn’t even stretch the skin. Incredible! I nicked myself quite a bit with my first attempt at the Razorine and Parker SRX. I have the motivation to try again next week. 🙂
I have yet to do well with a shavette, but I use those same type of Derby half blades. I use them in other kinds of razors which require half of a DE blade too. Lovely flowers as usual. All the best to you, the missus, and the cat! 🐈
Good Shave Paul, always love to watch your shaves , hats off for shaving against the grain on neck with a shavette. I haven't been able to do so yet, may be because of phobia . But will try to attempt a atg with shavette . Thanks for making this and more videos , you have inspired many people to shave traditionally 👍 Keep up the good shaves 😊👌
Gorgeous flowers again from Mrs H and beautiful Bach's Prelude. I wonder if you played this yourself on a home organ? I have this WS shaving cream too. Very cheap but a great performer and a great scent. The ingredients list is like a chemistry book though 😅.
Do you think the pre shave oil could damage a silvertip badger brush. Love the brush and wonder about the oil. Love your videos and never miss seeing them
Nice shave Paul and you were very calm and me not a chance will I use one of the them I am Quite Happy with double edged i will have to look for the aftershave And I will have to try Wilkinson Sword shaving cream also take care and enjoy the rest of your week 😀
Nice job all around with the Shavette Paul except that hesitation and cut, I would have done a lot worse lol. Mrs H nice flowers as usual. You guys have a great rest of the week.
Hi Paul, Dovo used to do a green insert that fitted the full length Pesonna hair shaper blades. Unfortunately, Dovo stopped producing them ages ago and they're now like gold dust. I wonder if someone could 3D print them? Maybe you could mention it? Martyn
Paul you are an absolute professional going at different angles on your face with that shavette I also have the same shavette which I bought from the same place in the picadilly arcade the shop is called Carlo anichini so next time you use it again mention the name of the shop to viewer's.
I don't think I would be game enough to use one of these shavettes especially when I get such a good result from a DE razor. Anyway my SOTD was Proraso green pre shave, face lather Palmolive cream, Merkur 34C with Wilkinson Sword blade. Miracle after shave and Bulldog face balm. Very nice shave before work.
Thanks for the video Paul- great as always. Q. what shaving kit do you take with you when you travel - and what do you put them in to keep them safe etc.
🙈🙈 Saw that go in 😬 🩹💈 As you said though you don't often use it so more likely to happen! Gavin has that scent from Lidl! It is really nice. Has Mrs H tried the ladies one - 'Suddenly'? Gorgeous scent and lasts all day for me 👍Beautiful flowers as usual 🌻💐 Hope you both a great 2nd half of the week 💈💐💈
Great Shave Paul and great job with the shavette I will stick with my DE Razor don't think I'm brave enough for a shavette take care mate Mrs H great flowers 🌹🌹🌹
Hey Paul, nice shave! Did you get the shaving creme in the UK? I'm just wondering because it seems odd to me that the main writing on it is German. SOTD: King C. Gillette razor King C. Gillette blade (1st use) Mühle Rocca brush with Silvertip Fibre knot (synthetic) Fine Santal Absolut soap and splash Nivea sensitive after shave balm
Well done, Paul, you looked like a professional. Only one nick but that's better than I'd do in the same situation. 👍💈 The most adventurous I would get is putting a feather blade in my DE razor. 😀
Don't tell my misses . I order Dior sauvage aftershave, balm and shaving cream . Good to treat yourself. Wonderful flowers from Mrs H. Great video Paul.
Fair play Paul. Those things look very light. Giving the impression that you would need to force it through the bristles. Which I know is not the thing to do. Very difficult to watch. You did well. 🙈😯🤞👏
SOTD: vintage german "Rotbart Mond Extra" razor, Super Max Blue Diamond blade (1st use), Omega synthetic brush, Palmolive shaving cream, bebe mild micelle water, Williams Aqua Velva aftershave. I once tried a straight razor, the new Wilkinson and it ended up in a terrible mess... My face looked like after an attack by a werewolf or something like that.
Nice attempt Paul💈💈 Shavette not my thing but like watching them used. Way too light in weight to be used for face shaving, they're a cut waiting to happen😬IMO. You're a brave soul doing this. Sunshine inside, thanks Mrs H😎 SOTD! Hi Paul, Good video, I have one of those shavette's at home. I think you have to keep your skin taut, otherwise that's were the cuts start. It's been sitting in the drawer for the past year, as I'm not brave enough to use it yet !! Lol..😎👍👍
Add to the list of used products next to Welsh water one more thing -> Welsh blood =) In my opinion that was very great try and at the beginning I was very curious how you'll manage the "PICK UP TIME, BABY" using shavette :D
Very nice SURGICAL shaving video Sir, Paul, why to shave with a shavet when we can get a comfortable and better shave with a safety razor, then why to go for a shavet, I have never used a shavet so far and don't intend to use it 👍👍👍

I’ll make sure to actually post my SOTD , cause I usually never do lol
Though I own a straight and a shavette, I've only used them a couple of times because I enjoy DE shaving much more. And with a straight or shavette, you're bound to get a nasty cut eventually before you even know it.
Shavettes are useful for neck shaving, for a barber. But to shave with, they’re not effective. I would say, don’t waste your money guys and buy one. It’s up to you of course.
That was the quietest shave I've seen.. May have to connect you to a respiration & pulse monitor, to make sure you are ok.. Here Gary, you give it a go.. No,no Paul.. I'm good, I'll just watch.. Interesting shave..
