Another cool thing happened. This was called an "Ultimate Grand Slam" which basically means the team was down by 3 runs and the 4th run of the grand slam was the winning run. This has only happened about 30 times since 1925.

@@tannerbotwright960 An Ultimate Grand Slam could happen without being a walk off. It just needs to be the final runs scored in the game. A Walk Off Ultimate Grand Slam is more specific. I suppose there could have been 30 Walk Off Ultimate Grand Slams since 1925, but OP's comment wasn't clear about that and intuitively it seems more likely that those 30 include all Ultimate Grand Slams. 🤷‍♂️

And if you watch the original footage, Jomboy came up with the perfect synopsis of their collective expressions.
The rivalry goes back to before they were even in the same division, when the Cards beat the Brewers in the Crew's only World Series (1982). Coming into this game, the Cards were clinging to a faint hope they could win the division. It flickered brightly one last time when they were leading 5-1 going into the 9th... then Dan stomped it flat.

The coolest home run I know is the pinch-hit, walk-off, pennant-clinching grand slam that happened in 2004 in Japan’s npb, hit by Hirotoshi Kitagawa of the Kintetsu Buffaloes. This pennant turned out to be the last one for the buffaloes since the owner tried to sell the team for financial problems in 2006, nobody accepted it and the team was dismantled. I love the homer cuz there’s something poetic about it - the very last shining moment of the teams history is this. It’s kinda beautiful.

    Mr. Jomboy,
I love what you do for me and for Baseball. Your commentaries are generally spot on with what is going on in the moment; like you read the idiosyncratic thoughts of the players minds. I'm pretty sure they totally crack up watching your stuff. If not only because you are hilarious, (sometimes), and nice in a nonjudgemental manner, (mostly). Kudos to you for helping to make Baseball even more fun. MLB absolutely needs to be cutting you a smidge of royalties for what you do. And you can tell them I said so. I guarantee you that my endorsement will push them to act swiftly.
    Anyhow, thanks man.
