    What a gorgeous car. It's dated in design (which is a good thing here) but timeless in class. I can't even imagine back then. 180hp in 1400 lbs is still a great power to weight ratio today. 360hp in a 2800lb car would be more than respectable. Putting it into perspective of most cars of the day, getting a ride in this would be like getting a ride in a luxery supercar or hypercar of today.

    Not engine turning, just some artistic metal scraping patterns, actually designed to hold a few molecules of oil to prevent rust and corrosion on cast iron machinery. Used here strictly for bling.
    Bugatti's vast use of aluminum castings throughout his cars pioneered aluminum for aircraft. And yes, he did design and build an areoplane between the World Wars. His cast aluminum wheels had steel brake drums machined into them. He even invented tempered aluminum half/leaf springs.
    That aluminum firewall you're looking at is actually the one-piece cowl support and firewall, cast as one piece. His aluminum frame rails are mirror image cast aluminum "C" channel pieces rivited together. Bugatti was one smart Frenchman.

    My father was head designer for Anthony Heinsbergen who was commissioned to design both Nethercutt buildings. The grand ballroom with its tall columns was a typical design from my dad, all free-style drawn from his mind using no tools. The Nethercutt is a classy place displaying extremely classy cars. Would have been nice to maybe get a special tour when I visited a few years back with my father. Couldn’t really get anyone’s attention over there at the museum. Such as life.

    No question that Ettore and his son Jean designed and built the most desirable cars ever put to paper and then into sculpted metal. What a thing. I had never heard of this model until this show: think it gives the Aerolithe and the Type 57 SC Atlantique a run for their money. Just Art Deco in motion: it's fabulous

    • @siraff4461
      @siraff4461 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kslayurgf It wouldn't need to be exactly the same and we have to remember you couldn't re-create the experience of this car today anyway because of all the regs.
      I love this car for what it is but even if just that look was transplanted onto say a modern MX-5 platform you would have a car which is safe, efficiant, great to drive, relatively cheap and looking at it would be something really special.
      Maybe do an electric version too on a BMW i3 for people that way inclined.
      The aerodymnamics would be easy to get to being great, that massive hood would mean you could have a very decent sized trunk and thin, tyres would look as it should and offer very easy handling.
      Just imagine if you came out to your Miata and it looked like that.
