    Dean! Thank you so much for your channel! I went to two different community colleges known for their recording programs and I left more discouraged and lost. In these schools they DO expect you to be very tech savvy and understand technical terms. They make you read books and learn the history of recording instead of actually teaching you how to get what's in your head out into the world. It is VERY frustrating and curriculum and grade focused. The teachers don't really care about your ideas - it's about if they have enough busy work to grade you on. Thank you for being so clear and helpful! I'm learning so much and you are so funny! I always knew I needed to learn recording, but it was also too expensive to go to a professional engineer for each song or each session. I thought I would NEVER be able to do this. Thank you for showing me I don't have to be a millionaire to pursue my passion and express my heart. You are the BEST! Thank you again.

      Hey Avey! This comment is EPIC! Thanks so much for sharing! One of the primary reasons I make the content I do is because I know there are people out there (just like me) who love writing songs and have the potential to be amazing artists but they struggle to step into the digital recording side of things. So glad to hear the content has been helpful! -Dean

    You are right about that the GarageBand is good as Logic and Pro tools but the only issue the I see how can you load the plugins ? Can i install on external hard drive. And used it that way ? Oh there’s plug-in that works as third party? Oh can I used the plugin that comes with GarageBand?

    I don't think you even understand how much this video just blew my mind. Seriously. One question, when you are recording a voice track, are you using an actual microphone or just the built-in one on your computer? Maybe it's a silly question, but I am genuinely asking because this is how "beginner" I am! Lol

    • @thesongwritingstudio5783
      @thesongwritingstudio5783  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! So glad to hear, that's fun! I am using an actual microphone which requires and "audio interface" to connect your mic into and then the interface connects into your computer/GarageBand. I typically recommend the Focusrite Scarlett Solo or M Audio M Track Solo for a solid starter interface and the Berhinger B1 for a studio mic or the Digital Reference DRV 100 for a more budget friendly starter mic. Hope that helps! And here's a video I did on plugging/using gear in GB if that is helpful at all... th-cam.com/video/pT4wEIGWMjw/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Dean...love the video series! Are there truly 12 episodes in this series? ALthough I see lots of your other videos, I seem to only see 6 of the series?!? I must be missing something. Thanks for your work and the education on GarageBand!

      Hey Jeff, glad you're enjoying the content! And you are correct, there are only 6 in this series as I got hallway through it and put a TON of time into it and realized the people watching were searching for the specific topics in these videos not "GarageBand Training Week 8" , so even though I was sharing that content it was not in a package that they could recognize so most people didn't even see it. So the rest of the training on GarageBand is indeed found on the channel but it is broken up into individualized, one topic videos spread throughout the channel! Hope that helps and glad to have you Jeff! -Dean

    • @thesongwritingstudio5783
      @thesongwritingstudio5783  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Cedrick, yes indeed, before publishing you would want to have your song mastered. That is a long subject but here is a video I did on a free online mastering resource called Landr.com! th-cam.com/video/vZeTGDlaptM/w-d-xo.html -Dean

    Hi, Dean. I’m trying to use a midi from iTunes. Is the Nocturno from the Quartet No.2 from Borodin. It’s in Amajor and 3/4. I have it downloaded to GarageBand, but I can’t find the correct tempo. I think that I can’t use 3/4 .
    I want to create an arrangement for that piece. You’re the only I trust. Please, and thank you. Only then I will be able to sing your song: “I wrote my first song in GarageBand.

    • @thesongwritingstudio5783
      @thesongwritingstudio5783  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Julio! Let me see if I am understanding you correctly... you are trying to take an mp3 file from iTunes (a song from your iTunes) and drag it into GarageBand to build an arrangement around it, correct? And you are saying that the song is in A Major and in 3/4 time signature? Assuming that's what you are trying to do I would create a new (blanks) project in GarageBand and BEFORE importing the song I would set the time signature to 3/4, the key to A major, and even the BPM/Tempo to the correct speed (if you know it). You can do all three of these things in the black window in the top middle of the screen in GarageBand where it says "TEMPO" and "4/4" and "Cmaj". That way when you drag in the song file all the parameters are set up to fit with that song. Does that make sense? And if I didn't answer your specific question then just let me know! -Dean

    • @JULIOAIS
      @JULIOAIS 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thesongwritingstudio5783 Correct! But adding a new track,they don't match. I read that you can fix to 3/4 only in Logic but not in GB. I thank you for your time. Julio

    I have another question I apologize but I ran into an issue on one of the things you addressed and your video when my song is finished how do I export this song and upload it to TH-cam my page I don’t understand the process should I transfer my song to my phone and then send it to a movie or something can you please help me

    • @thesongwritingstudio5783
      @thesongwritingstudio5783  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Cedrick, to put a song on TH-cam it has to be in video form, meaning that you would have to take your finished song and add it into a video project (like in iMovie) and add some sort of graphic or video that runs the length of your song. After that, you can export the video (which has your song in it) and upload that file to youtube. -Dean

    watching this in 2020 and 2021, I think Apple is getting greedy and may phase out GB, they moved a whole bunch of legacy instruments... that's why i'm using the old version installed on my 2011 macbook and not the one on my 2020 macbook or the 2013 Mac. They want you to buy logic pro
