Gosh dang man, I wish I had some time before my set next weekend to book a lesson and get some of this same sauce but 1:1. Instead I'm sure I'll be revisiting this video many, many times this weekend to get everything arranged. I've played more casual or experimental sets, but on the 28th I've got my first show booked at a real venue, and I had very, very short notice, so I've been writing and arranging as much as I can. In my head, because I'm adding elements one by one, there's a natural build-up, but setting things up so that I can actually perform that build, break, and changeup live is super, super hard. It's gonna be a harrowing but hopefully educational experience lmao. EDIT: and when I'm done, I'll book a lesson so I can ask you how to fix the stuff I didn't like because it's inevitable I'll have some jank moments.
Great video and really like the track. Have you thought about adding something like a Faderfox MX12 to your setup with 12 x faders MIDI-mapped to individual track levels on DT2 and ST? Much easier to fade song elements in and out plus you could also assign the MX12 per channel knobs to filter, delay send etc on multiple tracks on DT2 and ST. I ask because I’m thinking of doing this myself! I use a Faderfox EC4 like this at the moment which is OK but nothing beats actual faders for changing levels on the fly.
Have you tried using one of the spare MIDI tracks on the DT to send scene changes and fader movements to the OT (I know fader can be controlled but don't know about scene changes). Was thinking you could automate transitions / scene settings per pattern so when playing live you ensure it's set right per pattern. No idea if this would work though...DT Midi out to ST In, ST Thru to OT In (without clock/transport sending)... That loop at 33:22 is a slick song intro!
It sounds awesome! did you record all the elements? and if yes, Whats your usual process to approach a new track that needs new elements? Synth, arps, leads, performed and sampled?
Sometimes I listen to other artists who write similar music to me and I use their tracks to inspire my next move. Typically it's a mix or resampling and slicing + new synth leads.
You can't slice to 0 crosses in the Digital 1, maybe you meant the OT? When you hit yes in both digitakt 1 or 2, you just place linear or random locks in the grid and have nothing to do with 0 cross
So when your switching patterns on the different boxes I/e the digitakt and syntakt are you just triggering program changes via each box as the octatrack just mixes them and triggers the patterns playing bit confusing as the performance template is just fx’s
The Octatrack has 2 busses with 64 custom FX. Each bus is built for something different. A/B is Drum bus and C/D is your Melodic bus. The OT is also telling both machines the tempo and changing the patterns for both machines.
You need to see the max marco videos about LFOs used like conditional triggers. And stop selling us the DT2 like "THE NEW SEQUENCER NUNCA ANTES VISTO". Es un poco molesto.

This!! This is the big hurdle! Great topic choice, thanks as always!
Such a great example of good techno
Trance-tastic Matthew. Bet that's a banger through a big system.. (Syntakt 'arp' part was awesome)

Looking forward to your thoughts about the tt-303 vs the tb-03!
Thanks again for all the amazing tips! Just curious, why are you not keeping the master volumes from the slave boxes at a max output?

Will you try to make a rock/pop set in this setup (please do🤘🏼)

@@EZBOT_ wish to come to your live once and enjoy your music
Gonna have to book a lesson with you to get my similar setup to change patterns correctly in time 😂
amazing vid by the way thank you so much!!

My memory betrays me
