“Real dubstep” is such a dumb condescending genre name though… almost as bad as brostep taking over the dubstep name. It’s unfortunate but genres evolve. Just like modern neurofunk doesn’t resemble classic neuro at all but it’s neuro nonetheless.
@@substance90 Yeah, its unfortunate that people have to say "real dubstep" sometimes, but people listening will often not know what you mean if you just say "dubstep" and it's not dumb for a speaker to want to be understood, and of course it's reasonable for someone to not want to be confused with a "brostep" fan.
Digitone! Still love mine so much since day one - got the keys version for band stuff and later also got the desktop version for more compact live sets :)
I really enjoyed this, lots of great tips and ideas. Digitakt gets all the love but Digitone rules. The programmable mod wheel on the Keys is incredible but I didn’t know about the velocity mod. Original analog heat goes hard.
Unison sounds almost as huge if you lock it to two voices, which is actually manageable for a few bars. cheers! Btw: you can work around the arp being not locked to scale by making copies of the sound, one with a major arp, another with a minor and one with an diminished arp, when you want to transpose the arp you just plock the apropriate sound for the note.
Heck yes! I love the crap outta my digitone/euroack combo🤘 Edit:also own the OT and 100% confirm the digitone and OT feel like close cousins more so than any other elektron gear
Dunno if this is useful, but regarding Control All, in the Audio Routing settings you can exclude tracks from being sent to the FX, meaning you can use Control All without it effecting your rhythm track or whatever.
About pivot mixing: First decide how many steps and what tempo you want in first track. Lets say 5/16 and tempo 120 BPM. Now decide how many steps you want in second track. Lets say its 6/16. Lastly you have to calculate tempo for second track using this formula: (First Track Tempo / First Track Steps) * Second Track Steps = Second Track Tempo EXAMPLE IN VIDEO: 120 BPM / by 5 = 24 Then 24 * by 6 = 144 BPM
Yeah I sort of got flustered on stream because I realized I had done the math wrong or slowed the second track down at some point before the stream. Having the ratios and formula down right at the start is a solid jumping off point, but ultimately you can still make it work if it sounds/feels right
Early 2000s / Burial was what I thought dubstep was before we had what (I figure) most think of it is now. 🤷🏻♂ In fact, I had no idea of the genre until I read that Burial was called dubstep. I don't care much for the sounds from the mouse guy and that wild stuff. Before this, dub ragga I appreciated too.. I do though like some of the sounds and wubs and try to use in other ways....hard to not love a sparse or subtle wub imo. Maybe it got too big (which always happens?) And I'm no snob by any stretch.
Yes! It's the ALM-UT001 Din Sync cable! It splits a DIN signal that I'm sending from the Digitone MIDI Thru port (configured to send DIN48) to the Pam's New Workout. It breaks the DIN signal into Clock and Run. It works with other modules than PNW as well. I've used it to clock the Acid Rain Maestro, Intellijel Metropolix, Mutable Marbles and more. Basically anything that has a clock in that you can divide correctly!
Cool something so small exists to do the job! Wondering if it would work to sync my semi modular Moogs to DT / DN. Cause it’s a pain to sync those to midi but I’m still not eager to put in another box just for syncing… (and my GodFather doesn’t do a good job syncing too - as of the current fw that is).
I was the lone objector to the prediction that there will be a digitone 2 in your dt2 livestream…. My prediction is that they will put out a spiritual successor to the dn; a polysynth with 12-16 tracks and 24-32 voices of polyphony. Itll be machine based and have an fm engine similar to the digitone, and itll have a handful of other synth engines like VA and other stuff, harkening back to the monomachine but with polyphony. My guess is thats what “tonverk” is gonna turn out to be, if they end up keeping the name. The digitone doesnt have the staying power as the digitakt, its too situated in FM world. I think it would be a better branding decision to call it something new entirely, but can still do the stuff that the digitone can do

Bro that was impressive!! New fan Ybot!
The track at 19 minutes made me so happy, not enough (real) dubstep being made these days (especially dawless), it's such a great sound
Thanks for tuning in! Glad you enjoyed it, I love that sound too, excited to be able to share it.

These artist set-up breakdowns are 💯. Keep 'em up! Love it.
Guys! You are the best! I am going to spend a day on my Digitone tomorrow - I've kind of been lost in my Digitakt 2 lately.
More Digitone content please, it is awesome!
Thanks! Wow, love it song 1 & 2 .. 17:00 nice incoming change from song 1 to 2 with nice simple chords, 17:40 incoming bass. Thx was fun
Really enjoyed this one. The guest streams are always a treat.
Congrats, ybot. Seems you did end up getting trig last in just a few months!
golly this guy is a master
Awesome stream, Digitone is such a dope synth. I’ve been trying to level up my sound design with it, greatly appreciate all this insight! 🙏
This was great! I'd love to see a video on how that acid bass was created, amazing machine.
the music is so cool. Bravo
Very inspiring. Makes me want to revisit my DN. Awesome performance :)
Thanks guys, fantastic stream! Very inspiring. Some of those tunes were fire
this was really great, fantastic music as well.
Great format, value the explorative talking 🙏🏻
Also by far the most enjoyable Math-class ever… 😆
Overall it could use a bit more live sculpting.
Love this streaming, great artist Ybot. Digitone one of the best
This was such a nice stream! You guys have a really nice vibe. Also, I learnt a ton about the Digitone. Invite him back!
what! yes! first track so good

The digitone is a masterpiece
Speaking patten mutes on DN @1:17:40 There’s a shortcut to it: just press and hold PTN and press the track (button T1-4) u wanna pattern mute ;)
Nice!
Good morning with love from Berlin!
Aww Digitone getting some love!
Cool!

Woah, would you mind to share that acid bass patch? Sounds great!

Dave Mech also still does amazing things with the Digitone. No way is it dead. I can’t see that happening for a long time.
🖖😎nothing is never dead … even Elvis is alive!💫

What’s that “fancy little cable”? R u actually syncing your modular to a midi clock just with that cable?

I want a Digitone 2 so mf bad
What brand is the midi to cv cable?
It's made by ALM, alm-ut001 Din-Sync Cable
@@ybotmusic thanks!
Came here to ask this exact thing. I have a Digitone and a small modular setup so this is the perfect solution.

I am still betting on DN2 but I hope you are right
so what is the best hardware synth for fm bass?
maybe the korg opsix
@@xjtreexI have one. I’m not that great with it. I
Make a lot of bass sounds with my norand mono and I use a analog heat 2 for extra juice
@@Matt4star people speak pretty highly of it
Shit,,,Now i need a Digitone
Sounds like he is using the Digitales soundset from Substan
I don’t think he is but that’s quite a compliment!
soft pop
Ofcourse it's not dead, that's silly talk 🦄
😖😖😖😤
get @ybot back *now* to review the Digitone 2!
can and will do!
