Im a civic hardcore, but for this review, i totally agree. The empow trumps the civic all the way. The empow also has launch control which is a hoot to use. The exhaust note is addictive. And the price-- its a 200 full tanks difference at 427k. The civic is overly hyped and priced ridiculously. As for reliability, any billion dollar car manufacturer makes reliable cars. Technology has gone leaps and bounds. I love civics, but this empow, brand loyalty aside, is a winner.

Suspension handling fuel efficiency power and comfortability is just hands down!!! I watch its nurburgring run and with only a change in shocks tires and wheels it did a shocking 8 minute lap!!!! Totally blow away its competition out of the water which cost twice the price or more.
Time is the ultimate "reliability" teller. Tired of reading these "parts availability, resale value, reliability, etc" things from japanese fanboys. It's like comparing an intern officer to a senior one.
Call me a fanboy, I dont give a shit. I will still trust a company more with multiple decades of experience in the car making world than some unknown neo-colonizer-owned company with goofy ahh names.

Nice review Kyle. Very honest and no detail forgotten. I have to say that the true rival of the Civic right now is the Empow and not the Altis. They are almost similar in engine output and offer a lot of tech in their category. It's now only down to what a buyer prefers, whether if it's the executive feel or the sporty vibes. No hate on the current gen Altis cause I drive one, but Toyota better up their A game for the next gen cause right now in my opinion it's a toss up between the Civic and Empow in terms of the compact sedan category when you look at what those two offer for the price.

I’ve owned japanese brands and I just bought Geely and I saw GAC Emkoo at my neighbour the quality and durability is very different - These chinese cars are built tough. I’ll go for EMPOW! Value for money.

I don't understand why Honda RS is not available with Manual or DCT(Not sure tho). Considering that it is a civic and Filipinos like Sedan Civics the most and we like to tune civics. With current CVT its impossible to increase the HP and torque beyond 250 without breaking the CVT belt.
Quality can be interpreted in many forms: the materials used; panel gaps; NVH levels; comfort, among others. These were highlighted in the comparison and it's pretty clear that the Chinese-made can stand head-to-head with its Japanese counterpart. I respectfully disagree on the quality part. We'll have to wait and see if GAC produces durable engines though. A perfect example would be a Ferrari. We all can agree that the lads in Maranello only use the best possible materials and extract as much performance as possible to all their creations. That is quality. But durability is always suspect.
Today technology is different than before...china car manufacturing process are so advance...they use state of the art technology...its like the same with covid vaccine its because of the advanced technology today they test na vaccines on short period of time to prove that is safe..unlike before that they need to test the vaccine with in 5 years to prove that is safe...
They don't produce fog lights in Europe and american market nowadays because of the more effective and efficient projector lights, it will be the next led lights. Also orion headlights are surprisingly enough.

The emzoom is more of the hotcake seller of GAC due to it being a crossover with a lot to offer for a good value
