I always considered Axe as the most talented player in the smash community. Not only because he makes top 8 with pikachu, but also because of his creative way to play.
AXE WE SO PROUD OF YOU !!! taking it to game 5 and within 1 stock of beating one of the best players in melee right now. good fucking shit. makin me proud to be an Arizonan :')
The disappointment in the crowd at the end lmao I mean it's nice to see the crowd so invested in Axe but still gotta at least enjoy that schadenfreude.
12:22 I love it when people go back and forth multiple times to feel fast, like, relax your fingers, man. Moving back and forth isn't gonna make your opponent die or something.
I don't know what to tell you if you find this "boring" because the games run long and they're not contested by spacies. I hate boring as a criticism in the first place (it's ill-defined for a start), but these games were intense, attritional, taxing, with bags more going on than what meets the eyes. A shame Axe couldn't see it out for the upset, but people complaining 'Hbox must be stopped' when he's been beaten by loads of players in the last 6 months, let alone guys like Swedish, Axe, Chu taking him to game 5.
-sk The flow of the game changes, it goes from movement being the most important to spacing. It kind of feels more like Street Fighter there is nothing wrong with it it just doesn't have the look of Melee.
I believe axe had this match. If he didn't switch characters, he could of won it in 5. obviously with the gay coach time out hbox would of still won match 4 regardless. But I believe axe would of gathered himself for the 5th match, acknowledged where he was fucking up and finished strong. Why switch?! you were doing so well =/
No it wasnt. He did it because hbox was going to dreamland so he staled through hbox's coach call to adapt. You guys know hboc dont play friendlies against high level players so they dont ecperience the puff MU, right. This is more important than you think. Axe already stated hbox is one of the hardest player MU for him.
It was actually a super smart move. Hbox called in his coach for help vs Pika. He also chose Dreamland as his counterpick. Knowing that playing on DL would make the odds super stacked against him, Axe opted for YL--probably not thinking he would win, but to disorient the pika-focused advice that Crunch probably gave Hbox. Even if Axe went Pika, he probably would have lost that round.
its very very very close, but theres a reason why hbox is so good. hes smart as fuck. trust me i wanted to see axe win more than anything, myself being an AZ local as well. that being said this was one of the most entertaining matches ive seen in a while. if anything we should be mad at axe for throwing out all those random upsmashes :'(((( im sure hes gonna beat him in the future though!
How do you define a better player? Sorry, but saying Axe is a better player just sounds like bias to me unless you want to be a little less vague about it.

axe played like a monster this tourney. so proud of him
Roy shantzis is proud of axe
What does puff have that the EU doesn't?
A Rising Pound
Why is it that Pokémon battles are always so tense
You got to love Axe's facial expression at 17:52.
AXE WE SO PROUD OF YOU !!! taking it to game 5 and within 1 stock of beating one of the best players in melee right now. good fucking shit. makin me proud to be an Arizonan :')
commentators were surprisingly knowledgeable for once.
27:53 LOL Axe is like "welp I tried"
this game made me an axe fan
welcome to the club!
but i still rooted for Hbox because i love his playstyle for some reason
Midset coaching needs to be banned.
tBlizzi i disagree
tBlizzi Yeah midset coaching is unfair, I'm pretty sure Axe could have won this set if not for HBox using midset coaching.
People who don't have coaching should get hand warmers in place of. Maybe put a timer on it too like 1 or 2 minutes.
man did i enjoy this match
"Another fist bump from Wallgreens Drake himself" lol
The disappointment in the crowd at the end lmao I mean it's nice to see the crowd so invested in Axe but still gotta at least enjoy that schadenfreude.
27:39 it always warms my heart when they just nod and shake hands, there's no hate between them.
This was hillarious to watch, thanks to the players, who are gives allways their best.
Axe is such a chill dude. I love his playstyle too. Great job this tourney
5:40 THE DBZ FINISH! I freaking popped off for Axe after that.
RANDAL!!
GRSmash where you at
Axe is the most interesting player to watch, I am very sad he lost :'(
But that was some impressing play from him!
Match of the freaking year
12:22 I love it when people go back and forth multiple times to feel fast, like, relax your fingers, man. Moving back and forth isn't gonna make your opponent die or something.
If Axe would have won after landing on the cloud at 27:02, I would have lost my mind.
Imagine if Hbox would just let the dude win after that randell moment, that would have made so much hype.
what a game..amizing guys both..love melee
This set was so hype

I wished he stayed Pika instead of switching, but to be fair, if he hadn't gave up his first 2 stocks so cheaply he might have won it.
He switched because of the stage and the midset coaching. It was to throw off HBox and his coach, and to accomodate to the stage.
What a great set!
Why doesn't axe do wave-dash back fsmash or dtilt?
Axe, my dude, keep being hype.
NO-NOT TODAY! HEEEY
THUNDER. FEEL THE THUNDER
Should've kept his facial hair
I love Axe
why is he wearing a macedonia flag on his back
It's an Arizona flag.
Lolol the stage they're playing on
Well played axe
Aaaah dat final i cried
WAOW SIX DEE SIX
3:45 that was fucking slick
Axe is a hero.
1:32 "Both of this players are well known for making it back on sta- *axe fails and dies*
The match doesn't even look like melee when these two characters play
-sk The flow of the game changes, it goes from movement being the most important to spacing. It kind of feels more like Street Fighter there is nothing wrong with it it just doesn't have the look of Melee.
Axe is the man
Damn man I was rooting for axe man :/
welp... i guess the rest of the community is against midset coaching xD
i cri ever tim
lung tim no cri
To much hype (and backairs)

its so sad that axe did use any smash moves, link/young link have some of the best smash moves in the game
Vash The Stampede Really? In what way lol. Don't play young link but I'm interested to know.
Fmash is the punishable one. Upsmash has an early IASA frame. You can jab right after the 3rd hit - and other things
man wish axe didnt go toon link
eh I think he was sol on dreamland regardless so giving hbox more practice with pikachu would have been worse.
yeah it was a smart move, but a dumb-smart move.
Toon link isnt in Melee Young Link is Tho
3Ree you know what i meant lol

This made me angry at Hbox. Axe is clearly a better player. :'(

Balents also don't forget about the fact that hbox probably has ineens of the best coaches
How do you define a better player? Sorry, but saying Axe is a better player just sounds like bias to me unless you want to be a little less vague about it.
use to root for HB but he lost his magic after winning evo.
Go home HB
Hungrybox looks like he just ate a jalapeno
axe basically won
Watch this on 1.25x speed. You can thank me later.
too fast
Good shit Hbox!
