    I have a really tight budget and I have a hard time finding cost effective solutions to keep my plants happy as a new plant parent living in a rular area. I like seeing people talking about easy and cheap options for new houseplant owners a lot. This works as a validation to me that I don't need the most expensive and popular equipment to have happy plants and a beautiful setup. Just going to ask one more thing since you look quite experienced. As you may have expected I don't have access to a broad variety of soil mixes I can source locally, can I use a mix of supermarket brand indoor plant soil with orchid growing medium as long as it looks it isn't too damp? I've tried it with peace lilies, a pothos and a hoya so far but I did it a week ago and I don't know what to expect.

      Thanks for reaching out! You definitely don't need expensive gear for happy plants! Being resourceful with what's available can be part of the fun.
      These plants typically appreciate well-draining soil, I think combining these two soil types would work if you find the right balance between moisture retention and drainage. Generally, Peace Lilies, Pothos, and Hoyas are fairly adaptable and can tolerate different soil mixes so long you meet their basic needs. Just remember to let the soil slightly dry between watering to avoid waterlogging.
      If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out and I'll do my best to help!

    Thanks for sharing these tricks! If you wish to add more growth stimulants to your monstera plants, you better try electroculture! It helps me a lot with my various plants :)

    I put the aerial roots back into the soil, whilst supporting the plant on a number of bamboo rods. It is getting rather large now, and am a bit concerned with my own success! Where's it going to go in my little house?!

      Haha, I can relate to this! Plant parent problems 🙈 When my plants get too big I cut them down and propagate the rest!

      @LukeStocking every time I look at propagation of monstera it frightens the life out of me. I suppose I could have a little shop of horrors all round the house...

    Hey
    I had cut the aerial root of the new leaf cuz it was sticking out of the pot completely,
    I got my plant in June and it hasn’t grown since then, what should I do?

    • @LukeStocking
      @LukeStocking  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi 👋 Cutting an aerial root won't necessarily affect growth. To stimulate growth, I would suggest increasing its exposure to light. Good luck!

    Hey, can I use woven rattan to hold the moss? Will it mold? THANKS!!

    • @LukeStocking
      @LukeStocking  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't tried it myself, but if you use a weave that allows the aerial roots to grow into the moss, it should work well and look nice 🙂

    What do you use

    • @LukeStocking
      @LukeStocking  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my greenhouse, I use moss poles because the humidity is high, which means the moss doesn’t dry out as quickly. Around the house, I use either wooden supports or empty 3D printed moss poles
