This was such a cool video, no loud unnecessary bs, just cool finds and good vibes.
Looked like a fun morning at the Slatington Marketplace. The oil lamp was a great find and the price was fabulous. I would estimate it to be mid to late 1800s.
It was an excellent day! I would have to agree with you on the potential date of the oil lamp. I haven't found one quite like it yet in my research!
You and I have so much in common! Wish I could show you my antique chiming clocks. And I hunt for agates!
At 10:15, you scanned by 2 Slipper Shade lamps who's shades stand a really good chance of being UG. Really exciting to see this much UG out in the wild.
Beautiful lamp. I think you managed to get me hooked on the hunt! Im trying to furnish my recently purchased 1841 house with as much period pieces as possible and of course a few not so period.
Happy New Year to you 🎉
That is so awesome! I would love to see how it turns out! Best of luck on the hunt!!! 💚🔦
Have you found much....or, for that matter, ANY selenium glass at these places? I have been to half a dozen HUGE malls and looked through probably tens of thousands of items at this point and have only seen one single thing that I think *might* have been selenium. It's the last photoluminescent glass dopant element I want to find and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I cannot tell if this is because the glow is inherently dim relative to things like Cd an U and therefore essentially invisible inside lit cases behind glass doors, or because I'm partially red-green colorblind and pinks and reds are difficult to see. Is it always light blue under visible light and is there excitation wavelength difference in the induced fluorescence intensity?
I have found selenium glass! I have to admit that it took me a while to find some but once I did other pieces seemed to start to jump out at me! I realized that I needed to have the piece in a pretty dim area in order to see the fluorescence sometimes. Based on what I’ve learned selenium is also used in Amberina glass along with cadmium so you can sometimes see a bright orange/pink glow from selenium in those pieces. I have not hunted for many of the light blue selenium glass pieces, because I find the dim orange glow in those pieces to be a bit lack-luster. I personally find that the pink toned glassware with selenium produces a brighter and more satisfying hot pink/orange glow. I personally believe I’ve had more luck finding selenium using a 395nm light, but I’ve had people state the contrary, so I cannot truly answer that with certainty. I can try and get a compilation together of photos and videos to showcase some selenium pieces I have found - I’ve sold most of the ones from my personal collection. Maybe seeing some additional examples will help or at least give you some items to look out for in your searches. I have to admit that I don’t search for selenium glass as much as the uranium, but I honestly think that’s just due to color preference. I should include it in my searches more often.
@@terrestrialtreasures Interesting, well, I suppose I will just have to look more carefully then! I would love to see a selenium glass video on the pieces you have even to just get an idea of what colors to look out for! To my knowledge no one else has ever done a video on Se glass anywhere. Thanks for the detailed reply!
Those salt and pepper shakers you should have grabbed! Did I see 25$?
What light are you using
I've been going to the flea market here in Detroit and a lot of people don't know what they have and it's going really cheap and you never find displays like that here
Ooo that’s very lucky! Enjoy it!! 💚
Do you ever think people look at you funny for shining your light on things? I get odd looks every once in a while
