The in-game tutorials clearly show that tip. I have a screenshot with that very information when playing the game.
I just discovered this game recently by accident watching Mortimal Gaming and it's slowly becoming a top 5 game of mine, the world building and attention to detail out does Cyberpunk 2077 hands down. I even got the Cyber Edition even though I downloaded the digital version I love it that much.
I was genuinely surprised not just by its verticality but how sandboxy its areas are. I went off to find the moot & 2 hours later, having painstaking retraced my steps to avoid the high level 1 shot kills I'd wandered into, I was level 7, had a shit ton of stuff to sell & was seriously overpowered for the mission I was supposed to fight (but hey, I died A LOT), all because I kept expecting to find the edge of the play area when I went the opposite direction to the objective line. Most modern top down shooters are very linear & have enclosed maps so getting lost & wandering into lvl20 mob territory at lvl 3/4 wasn't what I was expecting. But God I love it .
I didn't know, the color of the shot is a clue, if they are effective agains the current enemy. Thanks. Also, I didn't know that evasion cooldown was shown with the arrows next to character. I had to spend time experimenting instead. Like electro gun for mechanoids, etc. After quite some playtime. Should have checked some tutorials, I guess... Thanks!

I'm surprised nobody has asked for this, but I think a really helpful guide either on youtube or the wiki, considering this problem plagues so many players, would be some kind of ideal order of mission/quest accomplishment for people who want to mix in appropriate level sidequests into their main quest campaign. What I mean is an ideal order to attempt side quests that considers whether they are actually accessible or whether the player actually needs to be a much higher level to accomplish (Anabolic Express comes to mind) despite the level the journal suggests is sufficient. Just something to tide us over until the developer patches in something that's more intuitive in the quest descriptions/suggested levels.

Finally getting around to this game and a few tips fall flat, such as using cover. That might apply for the intro but after, it's pretty useless and should be avoided. Also, just before the end of the game you can farm advanced components so that tip is wrong. The #1 missing tip here is that a ridiculously good gun is up for grabs from the start of the game in a truck at "The Edge". It's called Overwhelmer and can be easily gotten with a lot of dying and persistence. Best time to pick it up is once you have some skill points to dump into health just to help a bit and you're sent to the "Grinder" during a mission early on. Just check your map when you're out there and make your way just into the Edge past the first group of enemies to find the gun just lying on the floor of a truck, and spam the button to pick it up before you die. It's easily the best gun in the game and you can dump all your upgrades into it all the way through.
I just did this last weekend with my level 10 guy in exactly that mission. Died ALOT trying to get in and then back out of the area but man, that gun is a beast. @@larrymays4244 There is a big robotic spider boss enemy that you fight somewhat early in the game. You can't hack him but you can hack the smaller spider "eggs" in order to make them easier to kill.
Agree. Side missions didnt matter for me but they may for other players. I was able to beat the main game in just under 11 hours. I believe I only did 1 side mission. I found alot of ways to exploit bosses and even kill alot of them very quickly. If you pay attention to the available weapons and abilities , experiment you can get through the main game pretty easily. For some players it will be harder obviously. I know some mainstream reviewers were complaining that the game gets too hard. I had only a few sticking points and never felt that way. Id reccomend pumping your skill points into critical hits first, then health, then maybe look for stats that allign with your favorite abilities. Spiderbots is probably the most effective, devastating ability in the game in a variety of situations. The pocket mech when used with spiderbots makes the final boss a joke without trying to boost it with stats. EDF enforcer and a decent rocket launcher was all I ended up using for the last half of the game. Upgrade the EDF when you have the parts.
@@newbsan7039 No problem. The EDF enforcer becomes available in the shops maybe midway through the game. Keep in mind electric weapons like that work best against the machine enemies and bosses, makes a huge difference with one early boss. The EDF is pretty damn versatile to the point it works well against alot of human enemies too and has slight homing capabilities. Id reccomend pumping upgrades into that when you can get it. It carried me through the game with one of the launchers as my other main weapon. I posted all the highlights up on the channel too if youre interested in some alternate quick kill strats for some of the main bosses.
@@elmerfudd8680 Just checked one of my old videos. Yes, the EBR enforcer. I used it here: th-cam.com/video/Vm9kxi02JQ4/w-d-xo.html Appreciate the feedback.
Actually I don't think he's talking about the loadout colors. The colors on the damage in loadout specifcally correspond to whether that weapon does more than the one you are currently holding in your hand, green is more damage, red is less. I have never seen red numbers on an enemy before, so I honestly don't think that part of his guide is correct.
@@Fuzzalump ooooh the numbers?? I've only seen yellow myself... but I pretty much only use this overkiller I found in a glitch xD and I'm just getting into the game.
I’m playing through with a buddy but am not certain what I’m building towards. I’m lvl 13 but am glad I found this before getting too far into the game.
Was playing this with my Swedish buddy and he was like, "Why do the Ferals keep yelling Bread at me?!" _bröd means bread in Swedish._ And then the game got so much sadder for me.
It's a sad, sad game if you really think about it. Even the side quests, or lack of repercussions of killing civillians. It's all very well done thematically.
My brother works in a bakery in Copenhagen. He gave me a shirt that says “bröd” on it. Some rando chick at a crosswalk got offended by it. Some people these days...
@@goodluck4037 The game being a twin stick shooter doesn't prevent it from having hack&slash vibes, thus him referring to Diablo. Twin stick shooters also generally doesn't have a levelling/building system which The Ascent has making this game more akin to a hack&slash.

As a man w/ disability I'm one of the worst action gamers out there 😂 but I have one tip if this is you or similar, use decoys on augmentation. That decoy has allowed me to finish many bosses and firefights I never could otherwise (trust me, 100 deaths at just the arachnid fight lol is when I found the decoy aug) at very easy... Which btw is not too much easier than hard imo... Anyway I also use a controller which is a "disability" in itself. You're just much more agile with mouse and kb, but I can't do 'w-a-s-d' so I don't even bother... Maybe in my next playthrough. But again, use a decoy mod (aug) if you're stuck.
Shooting names also make them drop weapons upgrades. you only want to upgrade at least one weapon higher your go less drops there be so don't waste. good weapon is the heavy machine gun, HMG42 DOMINATOR you should have one by main mission 3. also buy lockon fire a AUGMENTATION. it lock on to a target and every shot hits works will with the HMG42 DOMINATOR as it only fires the rounds loaded, so make sure you gun fully loaded. HMG42 DOMINATOR is a hundred rounds. lockon works will with MG1000 STRIKEBREAKER and STROBOS both carry 200 rounds. STROBOS is a energy weapon.
Thank you for this video I just started playing this game today God damn do I love this game I'm having so much fun with this game the armor ratings and stuff is kind of confusing though I don't know what armor to pick I don't see any armor rating at all
I think you may be mistaken about the color of the shots, they are either white or yellow (crit). I have never seen red numbers when shooting an enemy and you are confusing people in the comments because they think you are referring to loadout colors, which red in the loadout menu means the weapon does less damage than your currently equipped one.
it's the one that says it slows down incoming bullets - it's not a shield. There are a lot better augments than this. I think I got mine from an enemy drop in the warrens as my 2nd or 3rd augment ever. Really not worth farming for.
It should be noted that the cover system is mostly broken and doesn't work most of the time. Especially NPC automatic weapons will just ignore cover. So my advice would be to just stick to run and gun and liberal usage of dodge and hydraulic punch, as it ignores cover aswell. The cover system is just a buggy mess. But the game is still fantastic.
you can't buy cyberdeck upgrades, you have to find them in the world. Though if you want to cheese this (because it is annoying finding ICE 1-2 doors in areas you'll easily forget about) you can join a friend or random lobby that is relatively early in game and still collect those upgrades. Just be aware, you can't join a game with someone who hasn't already started the game. If you do you'll delete your character.
@@BlackTestament7 what does the cyberdeck hacking do to the enemies? When I hold Y, it hacks them but I’m not sure what it’s doing. I wonder what the analyze option is on the cyberdeck?
@@larrymays4244 as far as I can tell nothing. I'm sure it's supposed to do something like stop them from doing certain abilities (like how some sword rojin can turn invisible or the jump guys can propeller leap to you) but I've never seen it do anything. Unless you are using something like Volatile which is the same animation and color.
@@larrymays4244 I've never gotten close enough to them to try but maybe. If I see the engineers, they are first on the list to take out because those shield drones are easily the most annoying problem if left unchecked.
hi, I have wasted the upgrades on many weapons, can I recover them and use them only on 2 weapons as you suggest? I can't get through the chapters anymore and wouldn't want to start all over again
I been farming the deep stink before even progressing the story just finished the tutorial. Went from 3-10 in one section then 10-17 in a section that has level 24 mobs also dying wil respawn the mob happy grinding peeps... Also playing on easy then gonna scale up. Looking for info on the perks of upping the difficulty more exp or maybe drops.
I think I was lucky, I experienced a bug where baddys didn't spawn until I reset so I waltzed all over the map picking up overpowered things lol now I drop guys my level and 10+ higher in 2 or 3 hits... ofc if I'm hit I get one-shotted but w/e it's a fun challenge lol.
Love the game but my steam version of the game was having issues with the controller. Had to go to controller settings on steam and it seems to have fixed the issue. Its buggy. Not unplayable at all and very fun. Already level 14.
Only the first 2 tiers (basic+advanced) of components is farmable via bounties. I've never ever gotten a superior component from a bounty, but maybe RNG is against me. The third tier for lvl 8+ is only found in limited world chests, but you might be able to get more of those by joining other players games who haven't picked them up yet.
I kept dying literally RIGHT at the beginning, you can't run so you have to jump around like hell but you still get mugged by groups because you're not fast enough. That was on normal difficulty. So I thought fine, I'll put it on easy and try again. Same thing happened. Fuck this game.
To farm T1 and T2 upgrade materials kill the Siege Bots in in High Streets. One is in between rezDev and corpzone (taxi to rezdev and walk towards corpzone) and the other is in scrapland. You will also end up killing a few bounties a long the way which yield t1 upgrade mats. So far to respawn requires a save and go back to main menu.
No idea mate, ive literally come against humans, humans leaning towards cyborgs, robots etc and ive only really been using ballistics or energy, havent even bothered with digital.. im in the game quite a bit although not sure exactly how far
Fun game. For a while. Having to watch a video everytime and hang on the b button before a boss fight gets tedious. Game Ran its course for me long before the end. Also never manged to quite get to grips with the controls. One minite I could dodge the next I couldnt. I had no idea what the 2 little arrows were trying to tell me, or when I could launch a grenade. Graphically I was enthralled and wanted mote but the game play itself eventually sent me packing.
It's not a shield. It's the augment that slows down incoming bullets inside of that sphere. It's meh. Stasis drone usually is better since that sphere won't last very long vs it's energy cost, you can still get hit and it does nothing against melee enemies rushing out or ambient explosions. Better go with the stasis drone, which is available early on and helps a lot against clustered enemies (overcharge kill AOE). Even the very first augment you pick up, that punch is better than that bubble as you can instakill jacked up enemies that outlevel you it also is AOE so with good positioning you get good return on the energy cost.
Fun game, But hard as hell. I have to go away from it for a while, then come back to it months later. It's a complicated situation 😕. You have to be on house arrest or unemployed to play this game. It is too much to do.
I’m using pc and cannot open journal or inventory. What keys do you use to open these menus? Also, the W, S, A, D do not move character in right direction and I have not find key to help me rotate the screen….I find myself using S to go forward although mapping says S is for backwards. Any suggestions…I don’t use controllers…I have tried but never could get the hang of it.
WASD = North West South East, there is no front back left right. Camera is fixed to the area you're in...its like Nier Automata although not to the extend that the playstyle changes into a different game[example: from top down to sidescroll platform to bullet hell]
I love this game but does anyone have the problem that when u backout mid mission...you come back and your main mission is gone...doesn't let you progress through at all
I wish the game did a better job of explaining its mechanics to the player. I had no idea about the dodge counter being baked into the circle around your character - and I guess I never noticed because the game, for all its visual splendor, is just ridiculously visually cluttered.
@@jimyarbrough9935 nope. If you upgrade the starting pistol and you sell the last one in your backpack, when you get the next one..it will retain the upgrade you've spent on that particular model. It does not upgrade all weapon in that category. If you upgrade 'Riot Gun', it does not upgrade 'The Fist' even though both are Ballistic Shotgun.
Okay, though it's been a while since I played the game. Hey do you know if they'll have any DlC added stories to the game? Getting old replaying the same scenarios.
Nice looking but in single player shame to go without party companions and many of us will never fall so low to play multiplayer rpg and to our joy depends on others...
There are no melee weapons, only 1 melee augment that can't really be spammed due to cooldown and energy cost (but it deals high AOE damage) and a summon that melee rushes enemies for you.

I have a qeustion, i play this game with a friend of mine but we often mistake each other for an enemy. I saw that the circle under your character was red, the circle from my friend and i are both black so how did you change it.
Grey "suitcases"? They look like grey storage containers or even footlockers, but they are made of wood anyway. Why would there be a bunch of suitcases just lying around everywhere, especially in factories, or the waste treatment center? Also, at what point can you buy cyberdeck upgrades? The "cyber" vendor so far only sells grenades.
Hiya mate, you have to find Cyber Decks out in the world. The Cyber vender literally only sells grenades as far as I'm aware, progressed quite a bit in the game and just from exploring the world and doing some campaign missions I've maxed out my deck.
@@Connor.97 Yeah, I was already pretty far into the game, and it had me wondering of the narrator actually played the game, or if he was just reading a script prepared by someone else. He also says not to get too close to the objects you can explode because they will damage you as well, but that's false. You can stand within the radius of any of the car/drum explosions and they don't damage you. Only your own frag grenades seem to damage you.
@@Neonmirrorblack I think you have a perk equipped that you're not aware of or your game is bugged. The exploding barrels and vehicles absolutely will damage you if you're inside the radius.
@@Neonmirrorblack OK tested again and I see why there's confusion. Seems like the damage is dealt by whoever triggers the barrel. E.g. if you shoot the barrel you're immune to the damage but if the enemy shoots it it will damage you. Tested 3 times straight. I also recommend using your hands since this will make playing the game way easier! And breathing, yes breathing is very important due to the necessity of oxygen in your bloodstream to survive!

@@theconsolekiller7113 awesome dude I’ll keep my eye out for those
@@newbsan7039 No problem.

Great guide! I'm currently at level 20 and I had no idea what the colours meant in The loadout. Red, white and Grey 👍
Was playing this with my Swedish buddy and he was like, "Why do the Ferals keep yelling Bread at me?!"
_bröd means bread in Swedish._
And then the game got so much sadder for me.
Theres also a pair of pants called "byxor" which is just the straight off translation of the word pants
It's a sad, sad game if you really think about it. Even the side quests, or lack of repercussions of killing civillians. It's all very well done thematically.
porrage please!! *TASTE LEAD* *EAT THIS!!!*
"Why do the Ferals keep yelling Bread at me?!"
Because they consider you food. They're not yelling at you, they're calling their friends.
My brother works in a bakery in Copenhagen. He gave me a shirt that says “bröd” on it. Some rando chick at a crosswalk got offended by it. Some people these days...

I am at level 10 so far. AMAZING game!!
Try Tobii eye tracking or trackIR to get an extra "free" input axis to map onto your controls that doesn't need a limb to use.
10/10 - way better than you-know-which cyberpunk game.
Burning Daylight? :D
So disappointed that i missed this before starting.
Subbing.

Hey man, thanks so much for the video! I'll be hopping into the game soon, so thanks for the tips!

if you shoot them you get less. The big healthpack vendor drops 5 packs on hack, 2-3 if you shoot it.
@@BlackTestament7 no indeed, but now I have a high enough Ice level, I just hack them now for more
Great guide thanx!
I think you may be mistaken about the color of the shots, they are either white or yellow (crit). I have never seen red numbers when shooting an enemy and you are confusing people in the comments because they think you are referring to loadout colors, which red in the loadout menu means the weapon does less damage than your currently equipped one.
Make a video explaining on the armor what’s digital fire physical and energy
0:50, what augmentation is that? That green field that surrounds you? Where can I get that?
it's the one that says it slows down incoming bullets - it's not a shield.
Stasis made its way to this game too? The darkness always finds a way
🤣
Pretty sure you cannot buy cyber deck upgrades, that was the tactical vendor you showed.
you can't buy cyberdeck upgrades, you have to find them in the world.

Components are not limited... you can get them from the bounties you can turn in.
I think you just suck lol
To farm T1 and T2 upgrade materials kill the Siege Bots in in High Streets. One is in between rezDev and corpzone (taxi to rezdev and walk towards corpzone) and the other is in scrapland. You will also end up killing a few bounties a long the way which yield t1 upgrade mats. So far to respawn requires a save and go back to main menu.
What is digital damage effective against ? If energy is for mechs/robots and fire is for flesh.
No idea mate, ive literally come against humans, humans leaning towards cyborgs, robots etc and ive only really been using ballistics or energy, havent even bothered with digital.. im in the game quite a bit although not sure exactly how far
digital crits vs robots[any]
energy is good vs some robots while tankier ones, you need explosive ballistics vs armor.
It avoids most resistances for later game enemies. There is an augment that temporarily makes your guns deal digital damage, big DPS increase.
How do you create an hemisphere protective shield, as seen on the thumbnail ?
Which is better? Keyboard or controller
Definitely keyboard and mouse. Easier to aim
I’ve not tried mouse but have zero issues with a controller, it feels really good. So probably whichever you prefer..
Both input methods work well in this game.
Fun game,
But hard as hell. I have to go away from it for a while, then come back to it months later. It's a complicated situation 😕. You have to be on house arrest or unemployed to play this game. It is too much to do.
