SOLD OUT in under 24 hours!!! Thank you all so much! For those who missed out, you can still get the same sonic character from the CAPI Heider H2. As I type this, there’s still some in stock on the website. Link in description. You guys rock! Thank you all for watching, and for the support all these years! I feel very lucky to have this, and for those of you that pick one, or 2 up, I hope you love it as much as I do!
JUST ORDERED A PAIR! This is PERFECT! I was about to buy the Heider H2 and didn't like the look of them... Was thinking on how to redecorate, and this came along and made my decision for me! Problem solved! :) I just wish I could have ordered like 10. 😂 At least I'll be able to track 2 things at once and do mix bus.
I just wanted to say that even though I personally don't gravitate towards the genres of music you tend to produce, the sound of your mixes are always incredible.
I agree! It’s very important to understand the difference. The music showcased on this channel is not my cup of tea at all but the channel has a tone of important information and even though the music is not my taste it’s sounds amazing. The mixing is top notch and you definitely know a lot of love and passion went into it. One of my favorite channels for sure!
At 5:57 we should make a GIF out of Colt's face. His proud smirk when he turns on the pre and he's like "look at this". Absolutely perfect. I love how much low end it picks up without it overpowering, I can literally feel the low end "below" the top end if that makes sense. It's hard to explain. Such an amazing sounding pre
Looks and sounds fantastic!! Congrats Colt. I'd love to hear those clips matched with loudness (LUFS) so we can actually hear the saturation this pre adds rather than just the perceived loudness as being better.
Me too, peak matching for this comparison is pretty useless and you can't get around the perception of louder as better. I don't doubt the saturation sounds good, but any saturation is likely to shave peaks and reduce the peak/loudness ratio. A LUFS-matched A/B would be welcome.
Wow!!! I would love to have 50. or even 2 of those! Congrats Colt! I just clicked on the link and noticed they had 6 of the non blacked out version and I just bought 2. I was blown away with how everything sounded even with NO Compression or EQ. WHAT???!!!! AMAZING. once again congrats.
Congrats Cole! I shot you an email to ask about your VP28-Platinum preamps couple months ago. Are you still using them on vocals or switched to Cappirunes for all now? I'd like to add one CAPI preamp to my arsenal but couldn't decide for one yet. So I'm glad you posted this video. Hopefully you can see this comment. Best, Yasin.
Just being tired of fighting digital harshness back in the day when I was mostly ITB. I realized pretty early on that the mix bus has the most drastic affect, so a mix. Bus compressor was the first thing I got, and then I started running my mixes through a vin tech to 73 and it was a total game changer. Ever since then I’ve just been testing different Preamps on mix bus to find what I liked best. And so far these are hands-down, the winner.
Unfortunately, my gear budget will not allow a purchase, but I'm so happy for you Colt. Please play more guitar on this channel, I know I'm not the only one who really enjoys your playing.
Congrats! Got to say I dislike comparing something that gives saturation by peak. It's the same as doing soft clipping with peak-matching and ask which you like better. It isn't objective. Louder ALWAYS subjectively sounds better.
Louder does always sound better, however, when you’re talking mix bus or mastering, peak volume is the limiting factor. Which means you have to level match by peak if it’s on the mix bus. Because everything we do is to make the mix bigger and louder, but we cannot go over zero DB peak level, hope that makes sense!
Even on my cheap laptopspeaker the difference is clearly noticable. The mix is up front and denser, the guitar sticks out more etc. Have fun with that gear and happy producing. Brgds
@@ColtCapperrune No problem, I think its important to get back a reaction and opinion on different speakers. In my case it´s a cheap laptop speaker, but it counts :) Thank you for your video.
Only 17 left. I have been looking at the Capi Heider 312 H2 for a while after watching your channel. Had to get a pair to put on my Mix Bus after seeing how cool these things looked. You have taught me so much about mixing. Now just have to figure out if these will make my mixes sound just like Colt Capperunes mixes. LOL
Amazing! I hope you love them as much as I do! It might not make your mixes sound like mine, but it will certainly get you pointed in the right direction, and help you get there!
@@ColtCapperrune Got my pair of pres on Friday and i put them on the mix bus. I am so glad I bought these they are definitely cool. I also added a Serpent Audio SB4001 on your recommendation. Well, Hellllllloooo....As someone who has had CAPI pres and great respect for Jeff since 2012, my interest is piqued to say the least. Sounds fantasic in my ear buds and will DL into DAW later today. Congratz!
Unfortunately, this version is all sold out. You can still get the same sonic character from the original CAPI H2. And there are a handful of single, and double rackmount chassis available out there. Hope that helps!
These really are some of the coolest looking mic pres ever, I’m not normally a fan of the API aesthetic but I’d happily use one of these aesthetically. Congrats on the great partnership and the super cool story to tell with it! Wanted to ask though how do you handle preamp shootouts? Do you manually re-patch whenever you want to try a different pre or use something like a Radial Cherry Picker?
Congratulations 🎉 I'd absolutely love to get a pair of these, but I need to bring in some money first. Otherwise my wifey would make sure I'm sleeping on the couch next couple weeks 😜

Colt...This looks/sounds awesome...!...I've pretty much seen all your videos around mixing with hardware on your 2-bus...I've searched for answers as to the signal flow through the preamps. I'm assuming you're going through the mic and not the line. Can you share this...?...Thanks...!!!
Love it! So if I were going to use a pair of pre’s on the mixbuss, would that need to go into like a di of a preamp to keep it line level? I’ve not ever done this but wouldn’t mind trying
Wait... input impedance is inside???? So we’d have to take it out of rack each time? What song do you keep it on? Do you use same for mice as you do the 2bus? Confusing.
Great questions! That was only so much room on the front panel, so the choice was either put it inside, or not have it at all. I leave mine set to the higher impedance all the time while tracking, and on the mix bus, so my suggestion was to put that control on the inside since it’s the one control I never change. Hope that helps!
Incorrect… Peak volume is the limiting factor when releasing music. So how big and loud we can make something without crossing zero dB peak level is literally the thing that matters.
Congrats on these beautiful units! Very curious to know how these do in a gain matched comparison on/off. Even various sources. Similar to the video on the SPL BIG. 🙌
