I don’t know why this site doesn’t work well. I just got my first Amaryllis! British Columbian here, Family member as well! Glad to be listening to your very informative presentation! Thank you!
I understand these plants like to be rootbound!
Great information! I really love amaryllis blooms for Christmas and for spring!
Me too! Glad you found it informative
I wonder why you’re putting the baby bulb into dormancy, because it’s likely Not going to bloom. Wouldn’t it help the bulb grow if you either left it potted or repotted it with fresh soil? Thank you.
Thank you for your demo. I think it would be helpful for your viewers if you didn’t have all your amaryllis plants in front of your demonstrations. We can't see what you are trying to show us because the table is covered in tall plants in big pots.
Thank you for this great video. Just what I needed now.
Youre welcome! 🤗
Thanks, I''m gonna try saving the bulb this way for the winter!
You’re welcome!
Hi Tyler, I am new to amaryllis a neighbor of mine gifted me with a few plants and I am very happy to have seen your videos. Love how you really explain the care and patients with the amaryllis plant. I didn't know not to water the middle of the plant I hope I didn't kill or did something to it. Wish me luck😃
Good luck! Let me know if i can help 🫶🏽
Loving your video
Thank you so much for your advice. You have a lot of collection of Amaryllis
Love them 🥰
Hello Tyler thank you for the video! This is my first time putting my amaryllis into dormancy! Thank you for keeping the foliage on- I do think it will help feed the bulb more- and I watched several videos and no one else was doing that- so I am going to do it your way. At the end of video you mentioned you are from TO....Im from Waterloo :) take care!
Ah! Thanks for watching! Love me some Canadian support 🥰🇨🇦
Really enjoyed your show on amarillos
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want to have it rebloom for mid October.
Hi Tyler,
Been looking for information on Amaryllis my neighbor gave me a kit so I had one redone for Christmas. It has bloomed one time. It's working on round two. I had ordered two amaryllises that I can leave in the ground they are for zone 3 to 6. Im in Ohio by the lake. Have you ever split any of your bulbs to make more plants? Next month I will start all my spring flowers for the perimeter around the condo where I live. Most people think I live in a house with just two units per building. I enjoyed watching your video. I've retired something to do. Couple more months of winter then spring will be here. I have 3 hardy Hibiscus last year one tripled in size. I have an assortment of tropicals I grew from seed Lemon, mandarin orange, and Hibiscus.
sorry that I wrote a book.
Thanks Tyler. I have about 60 Amaryllis and your hints were very helpful. I had a few problems with my Cherry Nymph with flowering. The flower would rot before growing a stem properly. The bulb was fine though.
Glad to hear it! The last couple of seasons I think many people (at least in the NE USA) had some flowering or at least timing issues.
Tyler, I love your video and would really like to know where to get the tags with elastic to tag my amaryllis and desert rose. Thank you!
I think I got them on Amazon
Tyler, you really inspired me to collect more amaryllis this year! I plan on planting a bunch out in the spring to see how they do, supposedly they’re hardy here if we have a mild winter. Have a blessed new year. Peace love and plant power! 😍❤
Wooot!
What did you do to clean bulbs, they look really good ,some of the videos I’ve seen take off soil cut roots and put to dry. Your method looks the way I would like .
This was my first amaryllis and all I got was leaves. I stopped watering it about 2 months ago. Leaves are not yellow. Shan’t should I do now?
Got my fist one before Christmas . It only produced leaves so I was vert disappointed. I haven’t been watering and the leaves are not turning hello yet. What should I do now?
Thankyou I am in Zimbabwe africa.our summer is ending now and our a.maryllis bloom in september.I leave mine in large pots but they are not blooming going to take them out and when do I plant to bloom in september...it is now April.
When should I be digging them out I do have them in the ground. They were blooming beautifully years ago but they all stopped so I will pot them in September. So you never put them in the ground? I live in Houston, Texas. Loved your video. Thank you Good job!!
I need to get back into these. My thirty-year affair with orchids has come to an end with power prices here in NE Scotland!
Amaryllis are the best
@@TylerMossop I love me an orchid. In winter I'd have fifteen of my sixty cymbidiums and twenty cattleyas adorning my house - although, at times it had that funeral home air about the place...lol
I live in Rhode Island, in Portsmouth.
Is there any way to get babies started from seed to grow faster, mine are going on 3 years old and are a little bigger than nickel size. They get fertilized and go outside in pots in the summer on my porch.
If they have not fully separated they will bloom faster if you leave the babies to the parent bulb.
Thank you 😊
Excellente Explication.
Have no Amaryllis ecperience..
Happy to help
I don’t have a basement, where do I keep it during dormancy?
What size clay pots are you using?
I have 2 amaryllis plants that I've had for maybe 4yrs now I will invest in afew more because I do love the planet and its beautiful flowers! I love how you said more reasons for your husband to be upset lmao.. mine is the same he says I make our place look like a jungle, I mean I don't even have anywhere near all the plants I want so he better shut it lol #flutterbykrush🍃
Hello, mr Mossop. Thanks for the video. I have 11 Ferraries - they used to go dormant on their own during December and bloom in March. I moved at the start of the pandemic. I replanted them but I can't seem to get them to produce roots. I've already lost 5. I replanted them last Tuesday and they don't have roots or the roots are dried out. Any suggestions?
Is the bulb full and firm to the touch? (Prior to planting them obviously)
@@TylerMossop Thanks, yes they still feel firm.
Hi Tyler
Hi
You do that only after the leaves start to die ,mine just started to show that it is time to cut them of
Thanks for sharing bro
Thanks for watching
I would love to get a blue amaryllis.
Blue 🤯
My dormant amaryllis only has 2 leaves and has never reflowered. This will be the first year I try to reboot. Is it a problem with only 2 leaves?
May be. The leaves are what regenerate the bulb through the summer months. Dormancy is a must.
What an impressive collection. You’re so easy to listen to… feels like gardening with a friend 🙂 thanks for the amaryllis advice. I have two… hopefully I don’t screw this up too bad 😅
Thank you!! You got this!
Mine been outside for 6 months
When should we replant them and end their dormancy?? My bulbs are pretty small not huge like yours.. do they bloom in smaller bulbs as well
I answer those questions in my latest video! I usually pot them up in November
@@TylerMossop thank you for replying
When do i cut off yellowed foilage?
At the end of dormancy
My leaves at long log and bent over unlike yours. Also mine is still in the pot.
Do you plant all babies in one pot ? Or with parent ?
Once the babies have foliage i separate them from their parent and pot up separately.
@TylerMossop Thank you, I really enjoy your show and knowledge as well. I wish I would have been more organized by tagging them. I have close to 30 or more. Doing very well. I enjoy surprises !!! Thanks so much !!!
@@lauriepaul4783 of course! Thanks for your support 😃🥰🌿
Baby bulbs should all be planted up actually. Let them grow :) It's only the mature bulbs that flower.
You must have washed them please respond. 1:03:15
I cringe every time you run your hands over the leaves. I feel like that is hurtful to the plant…
The leaves will be dying off soon during dormancy and grow new leaves in November. But also, my 2 year old plays with the leaves and rarely causes damage thankfully!
