No, srsly, he crosses the finish line first, but they do a 'rewind' that makes it look like he cheated by extending the nose of his car when we clearly saw he didn't. And even if he did cheat, another racer pulled a similar stunt to win in a different race (stretching their neck to cross the line first) but wasn't disqualified.
That was Rufus Roughcut who did the neck-stretching bit. A lot of the other racers cheat, like Prof. Pat Pending, the Slag Brothers, the Anthill Mob -- to name just a few.
Considering this was pitched to Cartoon Network? Because CN doesn't have good taste anymore. Remember, this is the same company that now, last time I checked, pretty much plays only Teen Titans Go, and thought Thunder Cats Roar was a good idea.

As much as he makes a very good Winnie, He doesn't capture the purriness of Tigger, which Paul did, instead, he gives him an ego, which Paul's Tigger didn't have. And as for Dick Dastardly, He just sounds like he is trying too hard.

Prof. Pat Pending going full-on mad scientist feels natural for some reason, and I'd expected the new Gruesome Twosome to get a fair amount of following after we met them better. the car designs are top-notch.
I feel like this is the best way to do a reboot. Updating the animation, designs and music while keeping the original tone and staying true the characters

Now this looked like a better reboot then that other one. It has more of the racers and I loved the redesigned Bouldermoblie and Convert-a-car plus the Creepy Coupe looked more dynamic.. Wonder if they would've done the other racers as well
If this had been tweaked a bit and polished, it could've been a great reboot and I probably would've gotten into the franchise much sooner. That being said, I di greatly enjoy the og series as well as the reboot (which seems to have kept some of ideas such as a semi evil/cheating Pitstop relative)
Man, this could have been a great reboot for Wacky Races. This has a nice feel that the original Hannah Barbera cartoon had. And I do like the idea that it's like a sequel of the original, but instead of having the original cast aside from Dick Dastardly & Mutly racing, it's their kids doing it instead.
Dick Dastardly and Muttley are my favorite because the remind me myself and my brother (Dick personally is the best of the duo because he was played by Jim Cummings one of my favorite actors)
Cool art style, a nice mix of comedy and seriousness, villainous antics by Dastardly and Muttley, and a character voiced by James Arnold Taylor, aka the VA of Johnny Test and Ratchet?! Whoever was responsible for killing this thing deserves to get kicked in their boiyoings.

I know that's not canon but I'm pretty sure that Dick Dastardly is just avoiding the One Punch Man Problem here: He knows he is the best driver in all of history. He can get so far ahead of the competition every time that it is no challange for him at all. So instead of living a life of emtpy victories he made his own goals: I will only win by cheating! So every race is a challange for him and deep inside he enjoys it!
I sure hope WAG still plans to make more Hanna-Barbera movies. So far they have 3 movies in development - The Flintstones (which I think would involve Fred & Barney going on a road trip), The Jetsons (I'm not sure what could happen), AND Wacky Races (which I think should focus on the long-time relationship of Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop)
To be fair to the villains I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to win. There's episodes in the original show where they should win but get disqualified for things the other racers do all the time. So they might as well just be dicks and try to screw over the other racers.
This came out just three years before Redline, which was seven years in the making. That's funny to me, because Redline is an amazing animated feature with tons of interesting, likeable characters, and this is none of those things.
To be fair, I see why this pilot failed. There was a lot of potential, but they substituted the racing aspect for a half-baked story. Too much conversation, too little narration
Maybe if they would have gone back and tweaked it a little like most pilots do, this could have worked, and like you said it had potential, especially during this time of day we’re majority of shows that make it are ones that have good stories. Who knows maybe this might come back as a full show

It’s still mostly made out of rocks. It just also has a triceratops skeleton fossilized into it.

To be fair to the villains I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to win. There's episodes in the original show where they should win but get disqualified for things the other racers do all the time. So they might as well just be dicks and try to screw over the other racers.

Why didn't this become a series? :
This came out just three years before Redline, which was seven years in the making. That's funny to me, because Redline is an amazing animated feature with tons of interesting, likeable characters, and this is none of those things.
Man I really wish we could have had this show.
To be fair, I see why this pilot failed. There was a lot of potential, but they substituted the racing aspect for a half-baked story.
Too much conversation, too little narration
Maybe if they would have gone back and tweaked it a little like most pilots do, this could have worked, and like you said it had potential, especially during this time of day we’re majority of shows that make it are ones that have good stories. Who knows maybe this might come back as a full show

I see so many things wrong with it and things that could go wrong with show and I am glad it never got a season 1
