Taylor’s the most humble, productive and entertaining TH-camr I’ve ever seen and meet. Love his videos since the red Miata days. Keep up the great work man 💯
@Taylor Ray , this is why I like your channel the most out of all of these drift channels. You actually build your cars, custom mounts/ fan shroud/ etc. most channels these days just order...order...order...bolt on...bolt on...bolt on lol
Dude I can't tell you how or why but your content is absolutely top notch. I think a lot of it is that you keep everything real. You're my favorite youtuber by far. I love when you analyze and explain the stuff that goes on while you're welding. You explain it well and it's really interesting. Also, ima have to pick up one of those garage built hoodies 😜 dope shit as always
My friend your skills are definitely improving Love the long road of getting it done and the only way to improve your welding skills Great process and execution and totally customized Great job
Long time, first time. Nutserts/rivnuts sometimes prove unreliable. For projects like this where access is still possible consider welding a captive nut instead, especially when you’ve run out of nutserts! Keep up the good work!
looks good Sir! if you need to bend without a brake, you can set the circular saw to cut about 1/2 way though. of course heat treated plate would need to be annealed. enjoying the build!
Nice! My first aluminum TIG project was an LS oil pan for my 350z... Not the greatest idea, but it worked. Flange warped though so I bought the CXracing flange and I'll be re-doing it soon. Mo' practice!
Yet another awesome Taylor Ray video. Keeping it real and doing it your way.... Keep it up... btw...saw a 70's Chevy C-10 for sale, but didn't get the price. It' was a single cab, long bed that needed work. If I can, i'll get the details on it and a photo to send you...although still need to get the Subi going....
So what you're saying is I need those fans to keep my Miata from over heating? haha. I found my thermostat gasket to have a small seeping leak in the bottom of it, replaced it and maybe that was the issue. It's been too cold outside lately to fully test it but I couldn't manage to get it to overheat the other day.
@@WelcomeToTheMadness they will fly you to my neck of the woods. Detroit. For 6 weeks. Pay for the hotel, breakfast and lunch, and the course. It's one hell of a gig. They don't advertise. Probably why we ain't ever heard of it.
Yo, I know Florida is huge but if its possible, now that Ricer Miata (Chris Rudnik) is in Florida you should try to link up. It could be sick considering both of your passion for the miata. He just picked up a clean JDM miata.
this is a good trick to do when u don't have a sheet metal break. you take a angle grinder and you scribe the metal with it on the line u want to bend it at and remove just enough metal it will bend at the scribe you make with the angle grinder then there you go bent metal. lol could have done that then welded the ends and been done. just another way to improvise but either way still a good video as always man.
That's what ur welds look like. Like ur stoping and restarting. Look up different ways of feed and let go of the pedal but not all the way just keep a puddle then once u got enough filler loaded like when you started, add more pedal then add more filler. Think about it like braking to turn as reloading filler in ur hand
an easy way to cheat is to stick the rod in the puddle back the torch off, slip your hand back, remelt your rod out of the puddle and continue on. just make yourself think about feeding while welding it just comes with time
Personally I would of put cuts every few inches down the line that you needed to bend to make it a lot easier then just welded the slits closed after you've bent it.
I will correct you Taylor it isn't cold it's chilly cold is work in single digits to negative in freezing rain and snow lol yeah that my day tomorrow haha
Clearly it's to late now , but you could have cut the size you need + how ever far away from the rad you needed (let's say 1"). Lay out a line at say 7/8 (guessing) drill a hole say 3/16 hole 1" from the outside and cut the line with the jig saw leaving like another 1" section uncut in the middle(or a CPL more if you don't want to weld it. Clamp Manually bend it like butter. I hope that mess makes sense. Haha
I love the welding stuff and your work looks great, I hope to get a welder and have some of the skills you have someday. Weld porn is great but i'm sure it comes with time.
Clean ur filler metal with a scotch Brite and try to avoid using carbon steel wire brushes same with stainless them two love to be clean when being welded
Taylor since the move your videos have gotten 10x better 👌.
I just miss fed

Taylor love the upbeat attitude when it came to making your own fan shroud. Don't let the haters deter you for you wanting to better your skills.

Taylor ray fabricating videos > everyone else’s fabricating videos
Watch some project binky 😂
@@DanDreese haha no one beats them
Can I suggest that you watch chucke2009 his building series on a press and a metal sheet bender it's cheap and easy to make
Hahaha i was going to suggest the same thing. Would've turned out a lot more professional looking. But to each their own.

idk why but these videos are so entertaining
Cause he just seems like a nice chill guy doing fun things with what he has. :D
I definitely can see a water jet or a laser cutter coming in handy for future projects
Next time you cut the aluminum use str8 edge of any sort and use those same clamps to hold the str8 edge so you can get clean cuts.
Dude! It's 24 degrees Fahrenheit here in Scotland! The workshop is pretty damn cold tonight! Tidy work on the fan shroud, Taylor! Cheers. Leigh.
Taylor doing mad vids loving them bro
Thing I like the most of your vids is you custom fab you do. Making things and welding in your garage is dope. Pimp as heck bro
My friend your skills are definitely improving

I will play the part of a "northerner" for this one...the high temp for Monday is supposed to be around 8F here... 40F will feel warm after that.
looks good Sir! if you need to bend without a brake, you can set the circular saw to cut about 1/2 way though. of course heat treated plate would need to be annealed. enjoying the build!
Taylor, you are so underrated. I love how relaxing and informative your videos are. I wish you great success for 2019!

@Sim ulation 7 Well, its just an LS oil pan flange...
@Sim ulation 7 Good heads up... I haven't used any of their kits but they do seem to be getting better over time, no?
I really like how your not afraid to make one video for two days, makes for a much greater video. Keep up the great work bro
Many of my friend have had problems whit mishimoto fans, Spal is a great alternative .
Love your works
Dude everytime I watch a video I always think how much the camera gimbal helps. So much nicer to watch.
3:07 damn taylor, you been doin your squats?
Since you’ve had the new place I have watched every video and loved them

In all honesty for the equipment and time you have into fabricating this prodject turned out to be 12/10. Good on you homie! ✊
Just bought those shop lights you had in your old garage exited to see the difference
I’m in Orlando for a while until I go back to base in Panama City. I love these videos so much and it’s cool to know we’re so close haha
Some people love nice looking welds.....everybody loves functional welds 👍🏻
Very well done! Your welds are looking awesome

Dope video homie!!! Getting nice with the welding!
Ny here. Wish it was 45. Its only 20 right now but its beats last weeks temps in the single digits.
To make the speedo work you can use an abs sensor for the speedo signal.
Cool project. Came out great
Try and jump around to different sides of the piece as you weld. To reduce distortion
I got selected for a 6 week welding course for disabled veterans. I'm super excited to start welding! Love seeing your welding videos.
What did you do to get into that? Yes I'm a vet.

Pre-Heat your material before welding and you will have even better results. Practice makes perfect!

Love the Al interaction! He seems like a cool neighbor. 😂
Fires are awesome. I use my fireplace and fire pit all the time! The fan shroud looks great! Could you post a link to where you buy your riv-nuts?
You really truly make me want to learn how to weld. You make it seem so damn fun.

Taylor trying to flex on us with is fire pit 😂
nice welding and it is cold
Cut some heavy duty rubber for the gaps between the shroud an mounts. Either one WILL crack with all the vibration under tension!!!!
Damn its 45 in Florida? Thats like a warm summer breeze up North
I live in Ky and 45 degrees is definitely long sleeve weather. I miss 60+.
Taylor Rivnut Ray at it again 🤣
Of course you can do it your Taylor ray
an easy way to cheat is to stick the rod in the puddle back the torch off, slip your hand back, remelt your rod out of the puddle and continue on. just make yourself think about feeding while welding it just comes with time
It's about to be 0 degrees here in Michigan on Sunday. I'd love 45 degrees...
Diablo makes special blades for cutting aluminum dont know if they make one for a jigsaw tho
Roll the filler rod in with your thumb and fingers as you can in and out it helps just practice with scrap rod you'll get it
Colin furze has a great video on a home built bender, dead easy to make
Looks killer Taylor !!! i am interested in buying some merchandise any idea when the garage built hats will be back in stock ?
Honestly I was hoping Taylor was going to make an aftermarket gauge cluster for the miata.
Al the neighbor sounds chill
Does a welder like that cost a lot to run in electricity?
Sure the rivenuts won't be too deep and chafe on the radiator? 3/8 isn't much
package of 3M weather strip roll for the rad shroud
i weld and can weld aluminum and totally sympathize with your reasoning haha
Lookin clean
Whats the jumper you have on ?
weld nuts on the back side of the fan shroud to mount the fan
liked before i watched, gonna be good right?
Does Ben run Bens Used Miata Parts?
Taylor do a oil pump one your new motor that why you lost oil pressure
got a solid 10f just about every day here in Norway. and its getting worse and worse :3

Check out "project Binky" their fab skills are 👌👌👌👌👌
Hold the wire like a pen. Roll it down using your thumb
Personally I would of put cuts every few inches down the line that you needed to bend to make it a lot easier then just welded the slits closed after you've bent it.
Might I suggest hearing protection with cutting...?
I meant to put earplugs in but I was just cruising along. Definitely regretted it.
Pyro Taylor lol 11:20

Clearly more complicated then that with notches , but I hope that gives a basic idea.
Come on man its -20c -30c in QC canada ahahha😂. Love your videos you do a great job!!!
I live in Utah and I was literally arguing with my wife how 40 degrees was warm just today haha
That good enough welding
If you really want to bend aluminum in the future, call up a few house siding companies. You’ll find one that won’t mind doing it for a small fee.
Make a bumper for your truck

Throw a big ass cam in the ls because why not
-31 Celsius up here today
Why didnt you just seem seal it
Starting a new drinking game..every time Taylor says riv nut, you take a sip
just buy a cheap bender for $50-$60 or even make one of your own, it would make projects like this so much easier and quicker.
I have yet to see any TH-cam car guy, bench bleed a brake master cylinder. I always scream at my screen! Haha

should really try welding on the left side first so your tie ins look better
