Yep, great stuff. For over 25 years I've been using a .15 G and taking out the .17's when using Teles. This makes it easier to pull it down and hold as well as being less fatiguing to hold it a whole step up while doing other things.
Great lesson sir. I absolutely love that Telecaster - sounds like the ideal Country and/or Jazz sound. I have two Teles: a real one and a black market one, which is sort of a 1/2 Tele, or just a "Tel"
I can't tell you how long I've been looking for something like this. I play a lot of country and just starting to get into lead, this is exactly what I've been needing and looking for
Hey a great solo to tech would be Albert Lee s solo for further on up the road from Eric Clapton live album. Just one night. It is a really cool country blues shuffle in g. Been trying to figure out but dont have the equivalent to slow down solo. It connects all the penatonic scales horizontal and has some really cool open strings licks. Please please please teach it its a great solo not toocrazy technocally but tasty as hell😊
Great video! I see what you did there about the hybrid picking and not mentioning it. That forced me to not think about my picking and just find the notes in due time. Thanks!
You can add Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughn to the list of guitarists who utilize steel bends. Cool to see that you name checked Jerry Donohue and Duke Levine!
When I heard you say Danny Gatton, Jerry Donahue, Albert Lee one name pops in my mind. I think unknown for most people. Stewart Barnes. Born in Yorkshire England but lived from his early 20's in Belgium where he unfortunately died in 2023. Maybe he was the fastest picker of europe and was on stage with Carl Perkins (who gave him a guitar), Dolly Parton, Boxcar Willy, Dennis Weaver, Jeannie Denver (his wife) and I do have some footage of him when he was on stage with Jerry Donahue when he was in Belgium for a workshop. He was my father's best friend i'm sure you will like his Guitar playing 😎 th-cam.com/video/iy6ZjbrBsBI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KhDdN33bGwSaFB96 Ow and thanks for the guitar lesson 🙏🏻
Twenty "likes" for this encyclopedic lick, useful in so many keys. In my early work on these bends, I find I'm sometimes out of tune at the end of a practice. Is the solution bending less? Or just keep tuning up?
To my ears, this is in the key of C, not G, because C is where the lick wants to resolve. Great lick, by the way, and one that I usually play with slides, not so often with bends.
Cool. Sounds like your most comfortable hearing Ionian major keys. There's a lot of country music that's in Mixolydian. It's also a major key but the 7 is lowered. Different tonality. In that case your I chord is a dominant 7. There are some great ear training apps out there that can help you be more comfortable hearing the difference. I like Ear Trainer
@@JasonLoughlinMusic As I was typing, I thought that really, I was just hearing the mode that seemed most logical to me, and that you probably heard it differently. I agree there's no reason why your initial lick couldn't be in G, but to me there was a definite pull, trying to resolve it to C.

You are the best guitar teacher I have ever heard. Thank you.

Just learned a ton of stuff on my lunch hour! Thanks for the great content.
Merci. Best lessons for the guitar, bar none.
Check out "Whip the Blankets" by Neko Case. Travis Good is playing the guitar in that.

I think Jerry Donahue was a genius of the bend. Really enjoy your lessons. Thanks 😎
Thanks
Nice Firebird you got there! Seen Epiphone put out one for the price of a low Gibson 😂
Great lesson love it can you just learn it and play it for me tho?
Really enjoy your sessions Jason! Thank you for posting them!

Thank you for showing licks in different keys & string sets. That’s the true way I learn and implement new stuff 🙏
Loving the 20 licks course so far! I'm on my way!
Nice!

Jason’s 20 lick course he references here has really upped my game in this style. I’m using these ideas on gigs and the band is taking notice!
EXCELLENT STUFF!!! Great way to learn!!!!
4:12 was when I finally heard what I was supposed to play
Great stuff! Thanks!
absolutely !! TY !
You're welcome
im a sub now , great lessons for intermediate players
Love the vids! Is that color on your tele honey blonde?
Thanks. No it was Mary Kay White but it the color changes over time
Brad Paisley is great one and Brent Mason likely played any steel bend you have heard in a country song between the 90’s and early 2000’s
Step 1: get a telecaster
What is the advantage of the Charlie Christian neck pickup? Thanks for sharing
For my needs it's my favorite jazz sound on a tele and I love the middle position with the CC PU
@@JasonLoughlinMusic what brand did you use, and how much of the body under the guitar did you have to route out? Thanks for sharing
Lollar and yes I did route it to get it low enough@@charleswallace5818
Roy Nichols reverse bending down to the 7th

He mentioned Duke Levine, not Albert Lee. Duke is worth checking out!

What bridge pickup ? I want one , thanks Jason
Lollar Charlie Christian
@@JasonLoughlinMusic - there looks to be some confusion on which pu but it doesn't matter, you listed everything in the description.
Would a b bender work with bends
Not this exact bend but you could do it on the top two strings in thirds
Ok
..maybe a "G" bender in one of the positions?
Roy Buchanan
Duke Levine all day long!
One of my favs!
If you really want to copy pedal steel, play a triad with 2 notes bending the opposite direction to and from unison. 🎶

Just suggestion ...play it first to give idea what it sounds like etc 👍
I can read tabs
I can make the guitar sound nice
But idk what half the words you’re saying are sir

Yes you have to enter an email address to get the free tab and track. Pretty standard these days
