That's some of the most convincing faux pedal steel I've ever seen on TH-cam. The two-string bending technique at 2:37 illustrates this perfectly, and is well worth pursuing. Much better than just bending one string.
Thanks for these vids. I’ve learned more about country guitar in the last two days than in my whole time playing. The Pedal steel licks are great I know nothing about theory but have picked them up by ear and slowing down the video. Class.
Great lesson, Jason, thanks. I have done the sixth bend (poorly) in the past using 2nd and 3rd fingers, but your way, using 3rd and 4th fingers, is much better - it intonates more easily, maybe because the pinkie is better matched to the 1/2 tone bend.
Hey Jason - any chance you can do a video on Eric Johnson's Steve's Boogie - I can play hybrid picking and the whole song but I cannot get the swing feel down on that song. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi, while I do appreciate Eric’s playing a ton I never really listen to his music or got into that style of playing. I’ve enjoyed seeing him live a couple times.
So alot of the old country songs use mostly the 1...4...5 progression. Of course this is just my opinion, but learning different songs in a different key in the 1...4...5...progression, could that be a really good way to start learning the neck of the guitar?, because I figure when you relate stuff like this using a song, it would be so much easier to remember. What are your thoughts. ❤
Good stuff, Jason. Thank you so much! You've probably been asked 1000 times, but could you give us specs on your guitar. I see you have a Femenella Custom. But your neck pickup doesn't match anything I see on his website. What is that? I absolutely love the sound of the bridge pickup! Femenella tends to use Fralin pickups. Is that what you're using? Thanks in advance.
This isn't my main guitar, this is the Jason Loughlin signature model made by Femenella Custom. My main guitar is in desperate need of a refret. All the specs for my main guitar and the signature model can be found on my site. We're currently not making them right now. The cost of one piece ash has gone up and Lou can't really keep up with orders. www.jasonloughlin.com/signature-guitar
@@JasonLoughlinMusic Thanks, Jason. Appreciate you taking time to respond. Pretty guitar. Great sounding pickups. Oh! And you've got some talent, young man. Stick with it, and this whole music thing just might work out for you! lol

Great tips- and love how this is targeting professionals that already know theory etc.
Bending 6ths has been one of my favorite pedal steel mimic licks for years. Sounds great as long as you’re mindful of your intonation.

I don't know anything at all about country music, but I watched your videos and they are extremely fun to play. Now I enjoy playing country.

Never stop doing what you do, most helpful country teacher on TH-cam, thanks for all the licks dude!
I like that I ll try it
love Man or Astroman!!I follow your lessons too
JL.....great stuff.....good song to apply the techniques to.....very very generous...thanks for sharing
I play Chet Atkins style! I play mainly by ear. I think I’m lacking a lot of little things to make it sound a lot better like bends in the string.
Your playing and sound are so great, I sent this to a couple of friends who aren't even guitar players!
Great lesson. I always learn something watching your videos. Also thanks for supplying the tab and backing tracks.
Thanks!
Thanks man!!! Great lesson!
This is toooooo freakin cool!!! ❤ I sing this song in my band, but only play rhythm. I don't know how to play lead guitar :(
Thanks Jason 👍
Great job, thanks
Great lesson 💙

How do I get the backing track to play to that? I sure would appreciate it.

It's in the notes above, but, spoiler alert, Jason uses Lollar Charlie Christian pickups in the neck position. They're really nice.
@@DaveBroTube Lollar... thanks for this. This is the first I've seen the Charlie Christian. Impressive specs.
