Many locksmith refuse to cut blanks like that.I Finally got it cut after the 8th shop I visitedVery time consuming but worth it cause it saved me a lot $$$

what can you do if you dont have the buttons on your current key but you want buttons?
Search toyota key fob on eBay, you can get aftermarket buttons that sit on top of the unit that goes inside the key. Costs less than £2 here in uk
I think you missed the transponder. How's this new key meant to start the car engine if you don't transfer also the transponder to the new case?
What does the transponder look like I'm having a broken key issue with a Toyota Previa. Car wants to start but key broke and since then won't fire up. Even with a new battery

Anyone watching this. The rav4 and echo key design is bad. You will find your $5 replacement shell breaking after a few months. Ideally find a different design. The pressure point at that little screw cannot handle too much stress.
This procedure is unnecessary. The Manitowoc sheriff's department deliver RAV4 keys direct to your home.
You shuld tell from the start or write it in the title that you need to go to the blacksmith or what.

What about those rav4 keys that have only 2 buttons? Will it fit?
it did not work. the electronics are fine, but the new key wont turn in the keyhole to start the engine
You need to keep the original cut metal key. The chip is inside of the key itself, not the plastic transponder. The key won't turn unless you have the metal key inside the ignition.
I have opened up the same key, and the chip is in the fob not the metal blade. You just need the blade cutting, thats it.
@@ndavies5968 There are different types of keys for various year and model Toyota's. My fob does not have the chip within the recessed rectangular area inside the plastic fob (some do). I can insert only the cut key portion into the ignition switch without the fob being anywhere near, and turn it with a pair of pliers and the car will start.
Or, use the buttons on the broken case, and use the manual key for the ignition
That won't work. I know because I tried it on the very same key. Had problems with engine immobilizer.
New key cut not nessesary u can stıll use old keys ınto new shell just need to do undo lıttle old key wıll come off
