Interesting video. I train after 16 hours fast, I drink matcha tea in the morning, then coffee at noon, then train, continue fasting until my hour 22 or 23, then I eat my one meal. I reached 8 percent body fat for the first time in my life doing this protocolo.
You just described what I exactly did last summer for 3 months on my summer cut to get under 10% body fat 😄. That approach definitely works and is not that hard, at least wasn't for me. Keep up the good work mate! 😎💪🏻
When I was fasting a lot (4-7 years ago) and using caffeine as a companion to the fasting, it was the only time in my life where people started using words like "gaunt" or "anorexic" around me (because we live in America in the 21st Century, and people don't understand what a healthy body actually looks like) - I was still 180 pounds or heavier at all times (6' 2" male)... but because I was under 10% body fat and I was standing there in real life, not just in a doctored Instagram photo, I think it shocked a tiny handful of my small town, Midwest friends and acquaintances 🤣🤣 Point is, fasting with caffeine and a lot of Zone 2 work can really, REALLY lean you out. And it also adjusts your emotional and mental states so that you UNDERSTAND HUNGER. Which might be just as important as the body fat losses themselves!!
How about age bracket - helps clarify how much hormones respond accordingly vs. someone who's older (post menopausal, if not older yet) and has metabolic syndrome.
You are so on point with this. Especially with the "understand hunger" part. When I fasted 14-20 hours daily there were times when I got hungry of course. But what is most important is that even if I feel hungry (I am not doing any kind of fasting now) I know that it will probably pass and easily just go on with my day. Not stressing about when to eat, how to prep etc. Frees a lot of time.
I’ve been learning so much from this man and I do most of what he suggests and let me tell you, it has changed my life. Every time someone sees me with my shirt off or a tank top I’m always asked what I do to get so shredded…and I don’t have belly fat. All lean muscle. Listen to Thomas he will get you right fr but it all starts with discipline and that’s what most of society is lacking. Make being healthy your dopamine addiction 💪🏽
Just starting a fatloss phase as I have a lot to lose. So im stacking calorie deficit, fasting, caffeine, fasted core training, and 30 minutes of cardio straight after. And still doing resistance training 3x a week. Let's see what it can do.
I’m no expert. But sounds like a rigid plan. My strategy us daily 30-60 resistance training. And 1950 calories by eating 400g of protein. 200g veggies 6 eggs. That’s it. Simple and now just consistency
@mogglie 400g protein! Wow 👌 my target is a minimum of 200g protein. All my weight goes straight to my stomach and hips 😩 I need to stay consistent this year 😅 wish me luck
@@mogglie If I may ask, how much do you weigh, and why is your protein goal set so astronomically high? Trying to achieve 400 grams of protein at less than 2k calories will have you farting and shitting your eyes out 😭😂
Good luck, but I will share my story with you. Not everyone is the same, and what I found is that fasted cardio burned my muscles, not my fat. I had been fairly sedentary for a while and then finally joined a gym. The gym has an In Body scanner that I've been using every month. The first month at the gym I only did 40 or so minutes of moderately high cardio, 3x a week. I didn't change my diet, but I did the cardio in a fasted state, hoping that would help burn fat. After one month I checked in with the scanner and found that I had lost muscle in my legs and had gained almost 2 pounds of fat. That was not the reward I was looking for. I'm an endomorph, and apparently my body decided that it had to immediately go into survival mode, burning muscle to do the exercises, and storing more fat however it could. Looking back I could tell that my metabolism had slowed down, because my body was cold most of the time that month and I had to put on more clothes or blankets to keep warm. So the next month I changed things up. I now have a scoop of whey protein powder with every cup of coffee I drink, caffeinated or decaf. At least one, maybe two, cups of caffeinated coffee + protein in the morning before going to the gym. Another cup of coffee + protein when I get back home. And more cups throughout the day as needed to roughly hit my goal of 1 gram of protein per pound of target body weight. I significantly cut back on simple carbs, like bread and pasta. The whey protein powder helps me not feel hungry all the time, like I used to, so cutting back on the carbs was easier than I thought it would be. Now at the gym I added in a little resistance training and cut back on the intensity and the duration of the cardio. A typical day started out with 15 minutes at a comfortable walking speed on the treadmill to warm up my body. Then 3 sets of 10-15 reps for about 4 different resistance exercises, which takes about 30 minutes. And then 15 minutes moderate intensity cardio on a stationary bike. Still just 3x a week. Doing this for the next 2 months got all of my lost leg muscle back, I've added a little muscle to my arms, and fat has started to come off everywhere. You do you, whatever works. But if you find yourself struggling, especially with the fasting and the fasted training, maybe you're a bit like me and shifting your focus towards getting enough protein while maintaining a reasonable calorie deficit will help.
@willdejong7763 Thank you for sharing your experience 👍. I am hitting 200g protein and resistance training 3x per week and in a 500cal daily deficit. I don't have a body scanner available at my gym, sadly, but I mainly try to keep my strength up in my lifts or continue to gain strength would be ideal. I do have some scales that give me my muscle and BF%, but I'm not sure how accurate they are. I've also measured myself in cm everywhere, so im hoping to see my waist measurements go down significantly more over the next couple of months. So, if your body is cold, our metabolism has slowed down? I've not heard of that before.
Interesting info. If someone is on the carnivore diet consuming no carbs, would it matter what zone you are trainning in if trying to reduce visceral belly fat? I understand gluconeogenesis, but not the amounts needed by the body if in ketosis and its relation to zones. Thank you for any info you can give.

7:43 Post Exercise Oxygen Debt is now referred to as “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption”, aka EPOC. Additionally, the increased calorie daily expenditure of moderate and high activity was nearly equivalent, whereas low intensity activity was substantially less, almost 600 calories. This could explain quite a bit why people who are moderately active but don’t engage in traditional exercise have substantially higher metabolic flexability with calorie consumption.
@thomas Do you drink green tea on an empty stomach. It usually makes me want to throw up if I drink on empty stomach. However I love to work out fasted so I’m torn
Thats normal for many people. You could try white tea, which has similar benefits. Or go with lose Yerba Mate / Guayusa tea. You can mix the two and decide how strong it should be.
Try drinking it slower. I like mine hot and strong, but I add a fiber supplement and sip it over the course of half an hour while watching meditative videos.
As somebody else said, this is fairly common; it's not just you. I have the same reaction. So instead I drink either yerba mate or black tea with no issues.

I can only take a very small bit of yohimbe. A tiny bit. Good way to burn fat -- come over to my house in the winter and shovel the sidewalks. It was 15 degrees outside this morning. I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
Working out in order to oxidize more fat is a bit of a misguided effort. workout for overall health, sleep quality, and emotional wellness. Eat in a way that aligns with your body fat percentage goals.
I have low blood sugar/pressure and hypoglycemia. Literally pass out or go to the er. Been that way since 12. They can't figure out why. I stay fit by eating a lot of protein and eating very very very heavy weights til failure. I am a vegetarian so lots of lentils and eggs.

@@markclemsr3060 that’s good to know I figure I’ll eventually get back on Keto and have to do the same thanks for the feedback.
Does the app use RDA? Those recommendations are crap. If it shows upper daily limit that would be nice.
I can only take a very small bit of yohimbe. A tiny bit.
Good way to burn fat -- come over to my house in the winter and shovel the sidewalks. It was 15 degrees outside this morning. I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
Man I been drinking coffee for years. Am I just way skinnier than I think I am? 😅

I can't put fat on if I tried.
Hit me up I'll give you some 😂
You haven't actually tried than. Gaining fat is easy.
@@Vincent_Beers I've always been one of those people who can eat anything and never gain weight.
You’re likely very muscular. What’s your height and weight ?
I can put it on for you. I am a fat making machine!
Working out in order to oxidize more fat is a bit of a misguided effort. workout for overall health, sleep quality, and emotional wellness. Eat in a way that aligns with your body fat percentage goals.
Yohimbe accelerates your heartbeat and could be very dangerous.

Yerba mate mixed with matcha...
You don’t lose any fat during the workout. He can make a career on posting conflicting videos every day in this era.
Dude stop. Your hate (and inaccuracy with scientific fact) is unattractive.
I have low blood sugar/pressure and hypoglycemia. Literally pass out or go to the er. Been that way since 12. They can't figure out why. I stay fit by eating a lot of protein and eating very very very heavy weights til failure. I am a vegetarian so lots of lentils and eggs.
Everybody has a magic supplement to buy. ???
Might work, could work, etc... lots of assumptions but no really proven things... So what to believe in the end ?
That’s called science. Anyone that says something is 100% I would not trust

@THOMASDELEUARFANACCOUNT i didn't understand what you are telling about
I literally hate your overuse of the word "literally".
Hey Alan, I understand dude. But do you hear me saying it in videos? No.
So please don’t judge my titles which sometimes just have to “play the game.”
We watch our metrics closely and have to play the stupid game to get attention on our very high quality videos in a saturated TH-cam platform.
Please try to understand. Thanks

Gutted app not available in the UK, sad face.
This is the misinformation that makes people quit after a week
Majoring in the minors
Since physical activity only controls about 25% of fat loss (food being the other 75%), it's pointless focusing on workouts. Focus on eating. Duh !
