The reason why people never really saw eLP as a white rapper was because he was doing something that nobody else was doing, he was not culturally appropriating anything and on top of that he’s so original and is himself because he’s so focused on the art that he doesn’t even take time to sit back with ego and compare himself to others. His work is so esoteric, everybody’s dumbfounded at what he saying in the first place, it kind of makes most people feel stupid and they don’t want to admit that they have no idea what he’s talking about because it’s just too much for their brain to take in so I think he just distracts everybody with how fabulous Unique creative and original he is

Same thing could be said about Aesop Rock. Never thought of him as a “white rapper”. He’s just Aes. No one else sounds like him.

Yeah I agree. Too many white rappers fall in the trap of trying to be black, or on the other end of the spectrum playing up to the 'dorky white guy' nerd rapper. If they are just authentically themselves people don't get hung up on race so much

Probably one of the best interviews I've ever heard. Genuinely brilliant questions. The stepfather factory portion of the interview kinda blew my mind a little bit.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

As someone who had internet access right before TH-cam came into existence, the only place I remember being able to watch official music videos was on Yahoo Music.

You didn't ask him about T.O.J that's the best track on the album.
