I love how Ironwood's song really drives home his character. He will do anything to keep you safe, no matter what he has to sacrifice in the process, or how much you might beg him to stop.
The epitome of a tragic hero. Caleb Hyles really helped sell the sad irony of the song with his immaculate voice. .akes me wish still we get a little v mills rwby original song
The line from Ironwood’s Song “You can’t believe in honesty that your children can win a war.” Is a great callback to when Ironwood asked Ozpin this same thing back when we first met him in Volume 2.
Fun fact: The Ironwood song, 'Hero', is sung by Caleb Hyles rather than Jeff Williams himself. Caleb's a pretty big TH-cam singer, and had done covers of RWBY songs before, even collaborating with Casey on one around this time! Also fun fact: 'Until the End' was the first song that Casey wrote all on her own!
Until the End is honestly one of my favorite songs from RWBY and that’s partially because according to Casey, who wrote it, the song is from Ruby’s perspective
I’m happy you found some of the original lyric videos I made for V7. I didn’t have much time for a lot of artwork since Jeff sent me everything and I only had 4-5 days to do them all for the OST release, but I’m glad people liked them. ❤️🤍🖤💛 ~Bruce from Sirs and Madams
Forever Fall - Again that was when Jaune was at the memorial for Pyrrha and it helped him a lot with coming to terms with what happened to her. They might not have had much of a chance to explore a relationship but Jaune helped Pyrrha have a great time at Beacon and be like a ray of light into her life. A sad song but still has some uplift to it as well. Trust Love - the intro Touch the Sky - played during the start of their first mission in Atlas when they unveiled the weapon upgrades and new looks, really makes you think its gonna be a season full of triumphs (oh if only it were true) Hero - was during the Ironwood vs. Watts fight, really dives into his character and the way he views things and also even in this you can kinda feel how strong his semblance makes his resolve. Also an interesting thing when he says he "is due process" that could be the whole thing of how he is making executive decisions and making tough choices and whatnot but could also be a reference to the fact that his gun is also called Due Process and then it's paired with "mettle I'll deploy" which Ken may have caught is the name of his semblance. And that line "In honesty you can't believe that your children can win a war" is a reference to something he said to Ozpin back in Volume 2 in his first scene "But ask yourself this: Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?" so it may be a dig but it could just be a reference; best thing about RWBY songs is there is a lot that can be open to interpretation while at the same time helping to explain stuff (also loved the Les Mis reference, quite possibly my favorite musical) Brand New Day - the song for the montage of them doing missions after becoming official huntsmen and huntresses, really shows the two characters who've had the most baggage and self deprecation and deciding to change and let all that go. Let's Get Real - during the election War - during the Ace Ops vs. RWBY fight, definitely feels an extension of their argument before the fight. Also one of the singer voiced Elm Ederne the Ace Op with the hammer missile launcher Celebrate - another song during the election Until the End - during Ozpin's speech about fear towards the end, it's supposed to be implied that it's from either Ruby or her mother Summer's perspective Fear - End credits song
Something neat about Touch the Sky, people have connected it specifically with Blake, because Adam's drums come in towards the end but then it's abruptly stopped and all that's left sounds like Blake's piano. Also, Until the End is the first RWBY song written solely by Casey. Up until now Jeff has written every official song, with Casey usually singing.
Absolutely love Until The End. I think Casey's flavour helps it stand out. It's a survivor song. It's musically distraught but lyrically uplifting. A song for oneself, that you sing to yourself in the dark.
Fear is my favorite not just of the Volume 7 soundtrack, but of the show as a whole. (Though it's now tied for that with a song from Volume 9, which I am VERY looking forward to you getting to)
When it comes to my favorite for this soundtrack it is so hard. I really love this soundtrack a lot. But overtime I think my favorite has come to be "Fear", the credit song. The entire concept and message just hits home so well... The first time I ever heard the bridge when they spoke about how weirdly some of the most powerful forms of fear are so blantantly contradicting (Fear that we might fail, fear that we succeed) really just speaks to how powerful it is. But the entire soundtrack is amazing. When the weakest song (for me personally) is Touch the Sky... which is a great song. Then you know you have a great soundtrack!
Great reaction! There are so many great songs in this volume. Also I just want to say that I absolutely love how most of your videos feature sweet puppy cuddles! It always makes me smile to see him snuggling into your laps as you watch stuff.
These soundtrack reactions are always fun with you guys! Thank you for listening to the full version of "Forever Fall" It is as you said, Pyrrha is the true Fall Maiden^^ I might have a suggestion, I believe it has already been mentioned couple times in comments during V7: when you finish Volume 8 you should watch the 3-part RWBY AMVs on youtube titled "Broken Inside" They are edits from the show (up till V8) done (beautifully, I must add) by a fan and I cannot recommend them enough.
Finally caught back up with you guys on your reactions to one of my favorite series. With how divided the fandom this show creates, it's always refreshing to hear you guys be honest and direct with your opinions on the show. Can't wait for Volume 8 to start, and all I can say is... be prepared for a more darker tonal shift. It gets pretty heavy at times.
Love that you picked out that line from Hero. Ironwood is a consistent character, he makes the same mistakes and doesn't learn or change much throughout the series. (This is not a criticism as it's clearly an intentional character choice reflected in his semblance.) That line "You can't believe in honesty that your children can win a war" is a reference to Ironwoods introduction in vol 2, during an argument where Ozpin is arguing that huntsmen are a better defense against Salem than flashy displays of military power and that Ironwood's military could actually be a vulnerability. Ironwood's final shot is "Do you honestly believe that your children can win a war" he walks away and Ozpin responds "I hope they never have to". So by using that line again here I believe it's less a shot at team RWBY's age and experience and more an indication that Ironwood still believes that Ozpin was wrong to rely on huntsmen and thinks his military power is the answer. Love the reactions, can't wait for Vol 8!
Well ruby didn't lie that she'll be here until the story is told. Viz Media confirmed they are picking it up after rooster teeth was axed. So the show continues!
I do love how Ironwoods song sums up his character arc and highlights that he thinks he's doing the right thing without realizing that he's actually making things worse
Anyone wondering about apparently Neo wearing Ruby's clothes in the picture for War, that is actually a reference to when Casey dyed her hair that way around the time it was announced she would be "voicing" Neo for BlazBlue Cross battle (she had been planning it before she found out). She later went with half black, half white in the same style for some time afterwards.
"Do you honestly believe that your children can win a war" is a direct line from Ironwood to Ozpin. And Ozpin says, "I hope they never have to." Really shows those two different mindsets. Also Forever Fall, and Cold, these put me in an absolutely terrible mood. How I am still sad for Pyrrha's death after this many years is inconceivable!
In a way I can kinda see Ironwood’s perspective in the sense that it feels wrong to let young adults and teenagers lead the way in a secret war when he’s built an army of trained adults. I don’t even think he means to be condescending about it. Any rational adult would look at Oz’s plan and think “why are you putting this on kids?”
I love the volume 2 callback in Hero and as a bonus the singer for Hero Caleb Hyles a singer and youtuber who did RWBY song covers including Red Like Roses 2 with Casey Lee Williams herself. I would also like to share my theory for the song War I like to think that the first few verses is meant to be the Maidens to their successors. "Never really had a problem with you" was Amber to cinder "All along i thought our friendship was true" was Freyja to Winter "Put my trust in you right from the start" was Spring to Raven "I never dreamed you would be my enemy the knife to take my heart" will be The Summer to someone in Vavuo.
I love the soundtrack of volume 7, my favorites are Trust Love, Hero, Let's get real, War, Until the end ❤ -Trust Love: This song is closely linked to Miracle from volume 6. In Miracle everyone was losing hope because of Ozpin's secret and they were looking for a miracle to win and they believe that in Atlas they will find it but when they arrive things are not as they thought but as the episodes go by they realize that they do not need one, but rather that they must trust their bonds and move forward. They are a family 🤧 -War: played by Casey Lee Williams, Dawn M. Bennett (who voices Elm Ederne of the Ace Operatives), Adrienne Cowan and Erin Reilly. The song is from the point of view of Team RWBY, this song is epic haha -Until the end: This song makes me cry 😢 "And stare with pride into the face of fear" Ruby facing Salem and inspiring her team (this quote is great
I love this soundtrack. Fear has to be one of my favorite RWBY songs of all time, thats such a great song! So, Ken is actually right about Ironwood's line in his song, it does feel a little out of place considering how he treated Team RWBY throughout the season. In fact, "do you honestly believe that your children can win a war?" is a line that he asked Ospin way back in volume 2 when he was first introduced. And as so, the "you" that he refers to constantly in the song is Ospin himself.
fun fact the iron wood song is sang by caleb hyles who did alot of rwby covers and more so they asked if they wanted to do this and that song we see summer orse in is a song entirley wrote by casey lee all the others ongs before where all a group or by her father
It's also my favorite soundtrack. While there are individual songs I like better I think this is the most consistently good soundtrack beginning to end.
One of the tricks to Ironwood's character and song is to think in terms of double meanings. Like in the show Ironwood 'shows trust' in team RWBY by giving them all this stuff, sending them out on high secrecy missions, taking their counsel etc but consider: The full Huntsman licences were given with the expectation they'd work for Atlas specifically (Ironwood even calls it 'our Kingdom' when talking to them in that scene), the secrecy was because they were clearly already in the know thanks to Qrow and Ozpin, the new scrolls he had made for them turned out to have jammers in them (as we see him cut off Ruby's scroll call to team JNPR using his own scroll in the episode Gravity) which makes it highly likely he probably had their communications monitored, him listening to their counsel ALWAYS has him say 'oh you're right' and then not doing literally anything they pointed out would be in his best interests to do (Jaune mentioning the whole 'embargo is causing problems' thing the episode after the Ace Ops get to show off, team RWBY saying 'hey maybe we could work with Robyn?' multiple times, Nora point out endlessly pressuring Mantle will only end in misery, Oscar empathetically trying to tell Ironwood being afraid is ok and that he really needs to actually work through that instead of trying to cut all his emotions off or else he'll end up as Salem 2.0 -all the while being treated as if he's Ozpin despite openly not being ok with that AND also a 14 year old who really should not be having to act as this grown man's therapist- etc). And that's not even getting into any of the crap he pulled back in volume 2 (let's see... He was sending 'concerning reports' to the Vale Counsel behind Oz's back for weeks before the Breach so he could replace Oz as head of security for the Vytal Festival without giving any thought to how that would weaken Ozpin and the Ozluminati's hold on the Vale's Counsel, all while telling Ozpin to trust him, disregarding every bit of advice Glynda gave him, and being all 'You brought this on yourself' towards Oz the second he got off the scroll with him). It's all stuff that *looks* very trusting until you reexamine the full context and realise, 'wait a lot of this is leading/controlling/manipulative as shit' and it's so easy to miss because Ironwood is such a well intentioned guy who we want so badly to believe in... Much like the lyrics of the song Hero, where the singer/Ironwood keeps promising to protect BUT critically almost every other line could also be read an order to the one's he's singing to: Those he's saving are to Take his hand, to Understand, to accept anything because he's already made his plan... All of which, when you think of how an actual hero should be, is kind of wild to demand from the likely panicking civilians one should be promising all this to. Oh and that line of 'I am Power, I'm Due Process, I will Smite' is just... None of that is heroic. We associate those things with heroism but power is neither good or evil, smite just means to hit something really hard and well, Due Process IS associated with justice because it's the act of legal proceedings that according to established principles and procedures should hopefully ensure a fair trial... But a single person declaring themselves to BE due process aka justice itself is such a major red flag it's nuts. And yet, isn't that what Ironwood always does? Just comes in, decides its his way or the highway unless forced to back down (and even then will force his way the second he gets the chance), all in the name of helping to 'protect'. Ahhh~ I honestly could go on about Ironwood and his many many tragic flaws for days~
"Until the End" always gets me because I'm convinced Ruby will die at the end of the series. It's who she is as a character and likely what will have to be done to save everyone she loves. So for her to say she'll be there until the end is really impactful.
Well, since Forever Fall is here.... Yeah it's a pretty song, but honestly not my speed. Casey, of course, sounds absolutely beautiful but that's about it on my end. Anyway, on to V7 Soundtrack: - Trust Love - Solid OP. Not my fav, but actually sets the tone for the first half of the volume pretty well while also hinting at the themes. All you could ask of a OP. - Touch the Sky - Played during the landing sequence in episode 3. Widely believed to be a Blake solo song (her first in the series) due to the use of her piano motifs and what sounds like the guitar from Lionized at the end giving way to Blake's theme from From Shadows. It really does fit her journey of rediscovering who she is now that she doesn't have to keep looking over her shoulder anymore. - Hero - Played during the Watts vs Ironwood fight in episode 11. Caleb Hyles (Famous for his youtube covers) is the vocalist on this one and he kills it. "You can't believe in honesty that your children can win a war" is actually a callback to Volume 2 when he asked Oz if he believed his kids could win a war and Oz replied "I hope they never have to." Really this song is just... one giant red flag. - Brand New Day - Played during episode 5 during the montage. Qrow and Blake duet (speaking of Blake never having solo songs) and what an odd pair this is. Honestly though they do have a lot of similarities. They both saw/see themselves as bad luck and in this volume they really try their best to get their fresh start... with varying levels of success. I love the barber shop doo-wop feel for this song. - Let's Get Real - Obviously played during episodes 6 right before everything went down at that party. RENORA BABY!!! Honestly, it's just a bop. - War - Played during the Ace Ops vs RWBY fight in episode 12. And for this song we have a quartet of singers: Casey (of course), Adrienne (who also sang with Casey on Nevermore last volume), Erin Reilly, and Dawn M Bennett (voice of Elm). The fanart for this one is of the singers dressed as the characters. Casey (who had dyed her hair Neo colors at the time) is Ruby, Adrienne is Yang (fitting since she sang Yang's part on Nevermore), Dawn is Elm (of course), and Erin is Harriet. Absolute banger of a song. ALSO "mindless weapon pointed at the enemy, a simple tool providing someone else with victory" is another callback to V2, this time to the OP Time to Say Goodbye. - Celebrate - Played during when we first got to the party in episode 6. Pretty fun jam, not gonna lie. Even has a little shout out to Casey's band OK Goodnight. - Until the End - Played during Oz's speech in the finale. And what a tone shift from the rest of the soundtrack. Though we finally get another Ruby song, it's been a hot minute since that happened. And this is actually the first song Casey wrote herself for this show. Her voice sounds absolutely gorgeous and it gives me chills in this song. She did a phenomenal job with this one. And that pop in of Summer! Ugh, so rude! - Fear - Credits song. More of a general theme for the volume. Pretty solid. Mirrors Oz's speech pretty well. And that's it for Volume 7. Honestly I'm so excited for what's to come in the next two volumes for you guys. Some of my absolute favorite moments and episodes. Ugh! Curse weekly uploads!
Honestly forgot that you both do soundtracks and/or pre-season shorts...I was hopong to see the next season's episode 1 before I "had" to move. But this is still 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖑𝖆.
Ironwoods song Hero and Adams song Lionize are crazy similar which I love because Adam and Ironwood are on the same path but we see Adam once he’s already gone too far but we get to see Ironwoods fall from the beginning. Idk if this made any sense
A few easter eggs In Celebrate there is a line that goes, "When the early birds rise that's the time we finally say OK Goodnight." Ok Goodnight is the name of Casey's own band. Hero is sung by Caleb Hyles, who has a few Rwby song covers that are really awesome and he has even made a cover of Red Like Roses part II with Casey. Also in Hero, (although it wasn't said by his VA) Ironwood states the name of both his weapons (Due Process) and Semblance (Mettle). While others have said the name of their Semblance before, he is the only second to say his weapons' name (the first being Ruby all the way back in Volume 1 Chapter 2) and the first to say both.
Caleb hyles for the win singing hero! It would be cool if you could do a reaction to his covers of rwby songs or his verson of red like roses since he got casey lee williams to sing it with him!
Love that you enjoyed these songs! Personally not quite my favourite soundtrack but happy to see you liked the songs! I'm very curious if you have any plans to do more RWBY reactions after you're done with Volume 9? There's a bunch of other stuff. Also curious if you'd be watching any other RoosterTeeth shows like Red vs Blue or Camp-Camp?
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 Awesome! I look forward to you two getting to that! Although I feel it's fair to warn you that it might take a while to get to the really good stuff, the first few seasons are almost a sort of a 'prologue' to the real/true story. Also many of the old jokes are of their old internet humour time but it gets a lot better as it goes! So stick with it! I'd also be happy to provide some sort of episode-react guide if someone else hasn't already offered! And I highly recommend Camp-Camp, it might be a bit of a hot-take but I believe you might enjoy it more than Red vs Blue. It's somewhat similar to South Park but RT's own version that has just as much cynicism yet a unique big heart underneath it all that I think sets it aside and shines on its own! (Also, psst, I'd recommend Nomad of Nowhere as well, it's only 12 episodes (each around 10 mins) so you could knock it out quick in around 2 hours! It's a charming little show that I wish got a season 2!)
True but when I made that video I just chose Blake since the hair cut and a couple factors were obvious with her.. including starting over without Adam after V6 ❤️🤍🖤💛
I keep going back and forth between whether volume 2 or 7 has my favourite soundtrack... Some of my favourite songs might be in other volumes, but in terms of collections of songs, I think 2 and 7 have the better selections within those OSTs in comparison... There's a nice variety, so many bops... Of course, even volume 8 with it's more limited soundtrack is still great, as are all the others as well, but you know?
I love how Ironwood's song really drives home his character. He will do anything to keep you safe, no matter what he has to sacrifice in the process, or how much you might beg him to stop.
He and Leonardo contrast each other well, but both are flawed. One is too cowardly, the other is too hardened and resolute.
@@SplendidFactor Such a great look at the different ways people motivated by fear can react
The epitome of a tragic hero. Caleb Hyles really helped sell the sad irony of the song with his immaculate voice. .akes me wish still we get a little v mills rwby original song
@@SplendidFactor Yeah, Ironwood basically became an arguable despot in his fear, that he had to sacrifice everything to save Atlas

It's also my favorite soundtrack. While there are individual songs I like better I think this is the most consistently good soundtrack beginning to end.
Yeah consistency is great word for the is soundtrack 🤩
Glad you are enjoying the reactions and thanks for sharing your insights here. Especially on Ironwood 😀
"Until the End" always gets me because I'm convinced Ruby will die at the end of the series. It's who she is as a character and likely what will have to be done to save everyone she loves. So for her to say she'll be there until the end is really impactful.
Ugh. That would be so heartbreaking 😱
Mad respect that you guys went back and covered the full Forever Fall song!
Excellent, excellent take on Ironwood.
Volume 8 around the corner... Here we go~
Thanks! 🤗🙂
Well, since Forever Fall is here.... Yeah it's a pretty song, but honestly not my speed. Casey, of course, sounds absolutely beautiful but that's about it on my end.
Anyway, on to V7 Soundtrack:
- Trust Love - Solid OP.
Glad we got some great moments ahead 😁😀
Honestly forgot that you both do soundtracks and/or pre-season shorts...I was hopong to see the next season's episode 1 before I "had" to move.
But this is still 𝖍𝖊𝖑𝖑𝖆.
We try to get the full RWBY experience 🤗
Ironwoods song Hero and Adams song Lionize are crazy similar which I love because Adam and Ironwood are on the same path but we see Adam once he’s already gone too far but we get to see Ironwoods fall from the beginning. Idk if this made any sense
It did make sense. Wonder if we will hate Ironwood as much as we hated Adam 🤔
starting with forever fall is bravery lol
woof, glad I decided to watch this on a weekend. Did not expect to cry this early in the morning right off the bat with the first track.
Why would you start with Forever fall!? I mean, I know why and you said why, but man I was not prepared for that! 😭
Sorry 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 no you’re not. 😂
A few easter eggs
In Celebrate there is a line that goes, "When the early birds rise that's the time we finally say OK Goodnight." Ok Goodnight is the name of Casey's own band.
Thanks for sharing those Easter eggs 🙂
Celebrate having that nod to Casey’s band OK Goodnight mwah good stuff
You guys should definitely check out the MK1 Khaos Reigns DLC trailer that was uploaded yesterday
Coming out later today. in 1 hour on the gaming channel 🥳
After you finished volume 9 you have to listen to all intros again
😎👍🙂
Caleb hyles for the win singing hero! It would be cool if you could do a reaction to his covers of rwby songs or his verson of red like roses since he got casey lee williams to sing it with him!
That’s really cool his covers got so much attention he got to sing a song for the show 🙂😀
Fun fact, Hero was sung by Caleb Hyles
Season 8 is a Banger!
😎🤘
Love that you enjoyed these songs! Personally not quite my favourite soundtrack but happy to see you liked the songs! I'm very curious if you have any plans to do more RWBY reactions after you're done with Volume 9? There's a bunch of other stuff. Also curious if you'd be watching any other RoosterTeeth shows like Red vs Blue or Camp-Camp?
Red vs Blue is something we’ve been told we’d like and we enjoy playing Halo. 🙂
Hope you have tissues 4 the next volume
Always ready 🥲
Touch the Sky’s baseline is so damn good.
fear is such an underrated song and theres an amazing amv someone made for it here on youtube id love to see a reaction to that someday
I was hoping for V8 lol, I keep forgetting the OST
At least we are done with world of remnant. Not that we didn’t enjoy those. But it helps getting to the start of the next volume faster 🤗
I forgot that from RWBY: Arrowfell, can you do a reaction there too please😅😂
And i like all songs from RWBY
I dont think brand new day is a Blake song. I think it kind of applies to the main crew altogether.
😎👍🙂
True but when I made that video I just chose Blake since the hair cut and a couple factors were obvious with her.. including starting over without Adam after V6 ❤️🤍🖤💛
@@brucemangan3807 That makes sense, nice job!
@@heidibailly2835 thanks!! I just realized I was watching this all from my personal account and not the Sirs&Madams account … lol
Like him or hate him Ironwoods song hits different, I believe he had the best song on the soundtrack.
When u guys r ready to start a new show, i highly suggest teen titans.
The og one! I loved that show when it ws airing on CN! Oh my childhood ❤
Thanks for the recommendation 😀
