It is a remaster of Diablo II (2000) and its expansion Lord of Destruction (2001). The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S on September 23, 2021.

Diablo 2 will always have a special place in my nostalgic heart. I remember being 14-15 years old when it came out and my best friend got the game on his computer and invited me over to play it. Not only was it addictively fun, but it helped me escape from my not so good childhood. I never did get to play the story all the way through so I’m beyond excited to finally be able to do so!
Such a great game! The new cut scenes bring it to life that much more! Hope you enjoy it!

Similar. My childhood sucked but this was 1 of the games that helped. I only had the demo so I played that over and over. Korn was big and that song freak on a leash played in the background. Everytime I hear that song I think about being a double axe welding barbarian slayin those familiar/imp red thingies
I played about 100 hours when I was 13-14…never beat the game and always just farmed for items while getting boosted.
Can’t wait to actually do a proper play through after all these years.
Having this game in handheld is amazing
Honestly halfway through watchin this video i thought i was watchin a big channel one i havent heard of with plenty of subs. I was shocked when I scrolled down to discover that wasnt the case. Yours got quality. Its superb. Subbed.

A remaster is when you upgrade the existing assets of the game, make minor quality of life improvements but it's the same engine (a little tweaked to run properly on modern machines). A remake is when you build the game from the ground up (engine, assets, sounds, etc.) and the only thing that is almost intact is the story and characters. For example: Resident Evil 2 Remake, Final Fantasy 7.
This is a de-master given that they removed a core feature from the original (Local co-op)
I like how he included a video of a bow raven druid after dissing it.
D2R genuinely feels like a work of love - I played the original game a lot when I was a kid, and I couldn't believe how good of a job they did with Resurrected. Everything feels the same, but completely and meticulously reworked in a modern manner to create a beautiful experience.
Is there a faster way to add stat points at switch?
I just started playing the game, and having trouble on A B Y X, to place certain attacks on those buttons. I accidentally got rid of basic punch, and am having a hard time playing with out it
The best thing about D2R is that you can kill Cow King and rerun cow level

Performance is fine in handheld mode! No slowdown whatsoever
I'm having a good time on switch lite. I don't play with other people though
30fps across the board is the answer you're looking for.
Hey, can you chat online with the console/switch version? Or is it limited to preset “Hello/Follow Me/Here You Go/Goodbye” commands? Lol.
I don't belive so, also idk if you can even do those type of commands as most of your buttons are already bound to skills and items.

@@SuperGainsBrosYT Ahhh shoot. Hopefully they can implement it in an update someday soon! Diablo 2 was such a community heavy game... when I heard they might not have chat or even customizable lobby names etc... But thank you for clarifying man! I’m still thinking about it. Not sure if I’m gonna get the Switch or if my netbook can run it (prob not lol)... I may just buy it on Switch for nostalgia purposes but dang dude that’s such a bummer!
@@ItsSamStone YEah I just kind of view the switch version as the way to play it on the go, with other versions, in my case pc, the real way to play. Obviously that raises the price, but its a great experience to go that route.
Looks like those commands do exist actually, someone on another video pointed it out. You hold down the R analog stick and it brings up a wheel. So it is available!
Can the standing over loot to pick them up be a problem on the switch ? I mean can loot end up being out of bound ? I would prefer playing on the switch, it's more comfortable for me.
No I've never had that be an issue, I mean on an absolute rare occasion maybe. But so far I've not had that be an issue. I'm already about 20 hours in and haven't seen that
Now if we can just get fallout redone like this.

How do you equip your Merc on the switch?
There is a section for them in the pause menu. You can then dragon items to them
Thax man - - played Diablo 1 back in the day and then Diablo 3 when it came out on pc. Also, played the switch Diablo 3 with the wife and it has been a blast. However, NEVER played Diablo 2! Thanks again for the review - looks like I need to pick this up soon.
How did it go? Diablo 2 is a very well crafted game but Diablo 3 more or less feels and plays completely different. Diablo 2 has slow but rewarding pacing but Diablo 3 is a bad game with insane amounts of micro dopamine filled fights that make you think it's fun but compared to Diablo 2 it doesn't stand a candle. These are my thoughts after playing D3 after D2

how do spells like Blizzard and traps work with the controller vs the mouse? where you would typically click where you want it to go with the mouse, how do you accurately cast stuff like that with the controller??
It has an auto aim. Sort of depending on why you are looking at.
Is this really worth to buy on Switch when I can play this for free on PC (the original one)

It can be played solo! The first two playthroughs in normal and nightmare are easy, hell is a bit different lol you'll need some gear. I almost recommend playing nightmare twice.
You can hire a mercenary in game and it's super helpful

This game worth it for a person who’s never played diablo before?
Special place in my heart but social aspect was important and essential. It let you connect with other players. Sharing items.. whatever. I want my money back. Real magic was communicating with other people
How are the controls on console? Are they like Diablo 3 or point click.

The switch also limits party size to 4 players as opposed to PC's 8. Also limits how many active skeletons you can have as necro.

4 players isn't even a bad thing. Easier splits and once you are in hell doing endgame boss runs, it'll be more fun w 4 people than 8, cause 8 people just melt bosses in a few seconds and that isn't as fun as actually fighting them lmao
My only issue with Diablo II was that i NEVER got any good items from drops after killing the bosses no matter how much grinding i did some other player would always get the good stuff so have they done anything to improve that aspect?
I don't know if they have improved the drop rate for monsters. Mephisto in my experience seems to be the best boss to grind for good gear, Act 3 Boss
That's just random chance, drop rates haven't changed. It sounds like you just got unlucky; I got Nagelring in the Act 1 Barracks from a Champion Monster on my Switch. It's just luck.
So whoever clicks it first gets it? I think on pc alot of people were running some sort of script that grabbed the rare stuff right away
Did you ever try to get some magic find? I remember the same as you for my first play through and after getting some magic find in my gear I had too many uniques and good rares.
@@misanthropus9703 its not that it was no matter how fast i clicked the loot the other players ALWAYS ended up with the good loot, magic find has nothing to do with it.
i dont understand how it can be played with such a small screen and the game require like 30gb thats alot not much room for other games

There is continuity from Diablo 1 but it's sort of like The Witcher 3 where you can hop right in and still enjoy the story.
On the ps5 Ima sorceress but I got it on the switch but idk what class to pick next
Necro to me is a passive play style. Kinda just auto walk and everything dies. A lot of fun if you just wanna turn off your brain. Druid is slightly more active. I haven’t played any other classes.
DUDE! But what is with the werewolf, spirit wolf and werebear skins for switch???? Looks like burn victim hyena hybrids??? Why is noone talking about this???
Yeah the textures on the switch are MUCH lower than the pc or other consoles. I'll still primarily play on pc. But the portability of the switch, makes it super fun. I'd argue that's the best way is switch and pc, but obviously that makes it a $100 experience.
But seriously, this isn't just lack of performance/texture etc... They haven't even an attempted to make it look similar... This is a whole new different rendered skin.. As if designed just to spite switch users. Black and yellow, patchy AF fur... Ratty looking thing.

@@thiagofernandes4806 Yeap. Switching between legacy mode and modern graphics for the shapeshift forms and wolf summons is like "before the fire and after the fire lol"... Burnt Hyenna fur is the best way to describe the colour scheme. I don't even get it. Surely it can't be just a graphical limitation. Seems they did it to spite switch users. Most annoying thing is there no info, pics or vids I can find anywhere about it

I didn’t play the OG Diablo 2. But with Diablo 3 on the switch, the graphics look horrible. But for some reason I feel like Diablo 2 res on switch is amazing. I love how you can choose between active play style or passive play style. The on the go feature with the switch lite is out of this world when combined with a game like this. I can’t put the switch down. Love it.
The only reason I was planning to buy this remaster is to local coop with my wife on the switch. But Blizzard is a kill joy company nowadays and locked that feature. I hope they burn in the hells of their legal issues.

1. We have but I dont want to rely on it because we move most of the time, hence the switch for mobile gaming.
2. I dont want my gaming network traffic to be routed halfway across the globe just to play with someone beside me.
3. D3 has it among many other games on switch, technically it is already a feature with D2 given that it is capable of online co-op. What fucked up reason does Bliz has to disable it?

It’s a remaster not a remake, hence why it feels exactly the same, because you’re still playing the same game and same engine just with remade sprites and such
Yeah lol idk why he says it feels like a remake. Definitely does not feel like a it and even the devs went out of their way to emphasize that this was not supposed to be a remake.
I was hoping to play Sacred 2 on Switch, but since that doesn't exist, I am gonna give D2R a try for my first time ever playing it at all.
I can't toggle legacy mode off and it is not in character creation. Sorry I guess I am stupid
So on the switch it's hold ztrigger then press the minus button. Definitely took me a while to figure out. On the pc you just press G

So on the consoles Legacy mode does not work on Character creation like it does for PC. Also the hud remains modern while on PC it’s the classic hud from D2
I still want my money back, cause multiplayer was not existent on switch !

Load times on the Switch are butt. Also, I hate how it disconnects you from the Battlenet server when you go into sleep mode. Not a huge fan of this remake thus far.

Yes, very much so. It’s particularly bad with necromancer. I wonder if this will be patched up. It seems like no one is talking about it

You can change the resolution in the options, I recommend this for handheld mode, as it zooms in and makes it easier to see.
The thing is you're wrong about the Amazon because the Amazon is super overpowered!! Get archers as your mercenaries and give them your Best equipment including poison arrows or flame arrows and you can sit back with the Amazon and pick off the enemy with little to no effort... I'm just saying if you use the Amazon correctly I could argue this as one of the most overpowered characters in the game. I think I had 17 levels ups that I hadn't used and I just started using them out of boredom...
Also if this game has the original engine running under it this can't be anything but a remaster. You're dead wrong calling this a remake! A remake would imply that there's a new engine but this is obviously new assets running on an old engine...

Graphics look nice and all but it's the same 20 year old game. I've played since 2001 and while it's fun on pc with a hero editor, I got tired of its frustrating gameplay,cheap boss fights and useless skills on the skill tree. My favorites will always be the original Diablo and Diablo 3. Diablo 2 was ok but not my favorite game to play again and again. Don't get me wrong I still play occasionally on old pc version with cheats but the game has been worn out after 20 years. Still new players might like the remaster just to try 2 out.

We'll they've actually brought gamechanging patches that were much needed and positivily affected the game. Things like druids now being able to have all summons up is just one, spirit wolves, dire wolves and bear up all together. Couldn't have that originally.

every one say its smooth and great, which is not true! First at all its looks good and great but when u have a higher level sorc with teleport and frozen orb or meteor its can kill the game the fps can drop to 4-5.
Also you cant get prober gaming experience because you can not search games its automatic, and you may can fin other games 5 times from 100 searching.
Also servers weekly twice or more crashed for hours...
Another point if you dont like this game after you bought not Nintendo and not even Blizzard will to refund it to you.
So the overall experience DONT BUY IT!
Yeah I would definitely say PC is the way to go first. I like having on switch as well, because I can play it on the couch etc. but that's owning both PC and Switch.
@@SuperGainsBrosYT I agree. The ability to play my character on the go and just add to the progress in bite sized amounts would be my ideal way to use this version of the game. Otherwise I would just play it on my console at home.

If your mercenary dies you can hire someone else, I also belive you can hire someone to simply replace the one you have. Idk if you can fire one, if you have one. Their gear and whatnot is in a tab on the switch version inside the pause menu
