    While I work on this tree, I explain ,in the subtitles, my 3 year plan to prepare this tree to be exhibited (if it was to be exhibited) and my way of maintaining a pine bonsai's size, indefinately. Thank you for your time!

    What a beautiful tree! that green leafy stuff is likely the cause, its called Liverwort and is always found on mostly organic soil and an indicator that there's too much water (possibly drainage problem) should definitely be removed as it spreads quite quickly, stops the water from penetrating the roots/soil evenly and impacts air circulation through the soil too. Rather replace with moss or top soil to let it air out. Thank you for another great video!

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Wesley! Yeah, the liverwort.. unfortunately it came with the moss. Every once in a while I remove it but it comes back. Though luckily the drainage is perfect still as I use zeolite, pumice and perlite that do not break down. I appreciate the info on liverwort. I'll look into it in detail. Cheers!

    Hi bro, that is not fungus but that is very invasive type of moss take it all us much you can and throw it away it spread very fast and it is impossible to get rid of it if you wait for long. BTW you have nice collection.

      @ArkefthosBonsai  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your input! I was not talking about the liverwort. There was a mushroom type under the moss and the liverwort,hard on the outside, mushy in the inside and smells like yoghurt. Probably not quite visible in my video. Have a great day!

    Was that work recent? How many pairs of needles do you usually leave on each shoot? Great video!

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you Bob! Yes, the work was the 1st of november, I believe. As I say in every related video, people should "stop" counting needles as they get more experienced and start estimating effective photosynthetic surface. Not every needle is the same length and effectiveness. So as this tree needs to be quite bare, to let light in and create more adventitious buds, I removed all of the old needles, everywhere and then I start removing some of the new needles in areas of middle strength and more new needles on stronger areas. But strong areas with a bit shorter needles, I will leave 2 or 3 pairs more than strong areas with a bit longer needles, even if the shoots are next to each other. The minimum needles I've left on the tree are 6 pairs. In a more ramified tree you might get down to 4 pairs per strong shoot. I hope that helps! Cheers!
