- Sonique gives us an exclusive insight into the making of her 1998 dance classic 'It Feels So Good', on the eve of the 25th anniversary of its release. The track would go on to land the No. 1 spot in the UK Singles Chart, as well as dominate charts across the world, helping cement its place as a true dance classic.
Here, Sonique talks about how ‘It Feels So Good’ started out as a d&b track, working on it in the studio, and how it became one of the biggest-selling singles of 1998.

Why does this song sound so futuristic?!? As someone who grew up with this masterpiece.
I was listening again to this song by accident at a store in town and it just feels do modern in some way. Like it could been released recently.
Sonique was just waaaaaaah ahead of her time during the 90s.
Yeah when it came out nothing sounded like it. Its those synth pads. They're so badass.
It is her haunting sounding vocal combined with 303.
It's timeless and perfect that's why, but also going into the 2000's a lot of music and movies were going with a futuristic theme because it's wasn't the new millenium yet, but it just felt like 2000 was going to be so futuristic. So in this song in particular there's this sonic vibration you hear in the opening like you would in a futuristic movie, and then the vocals and the baseline and then how they play with parts of her vocals. It's like it just feels like something that never has been duplicated, so even in 3000 it's going to sound modern. It really is rare and it feels so good! ;)

People don’t truly understand how much art, passion, soul that’s really in this song. When you blast this on some headphones you get lost and forget about all your trouble for just 3 minutes or longer than that if you do repeat like me 😎

it's hard to believe that I listen to that song 25 summers in a row and still feel that carefree like for the first time.
To me, I love the fact that this song sounds very different from other dance tracks. You can tell it's 100% Sonique's song and the energy she pours into it you can feel throughout your entire body. The song isn't just catchy but it sends chills down your spin which to me makes the song above and beyond. From the beat, to the bass, to the strings, each part of this song has a purpose! So many layers!
I’m 30 now but I know I remember hearing this track. If it makes her feel any better, this track made it to a US territory I grew up in. I officially feel old now.

This song actually describes how you feel when you hear it. It is an all time classic and has a unique energy to it. Very high vibration and makes me imagine whenever i listen to it.
I was living in NYC, but never heard it there. I heard it being played non-stop when i was traveling to Rio four times a year. This song was *massive* in the clubs in Brazil.
And i still love this because it takes me back to that era, those nights.
'It Feels So Good' belongs to a list of a few songs that can bring tears of joy to my eyes! It marked my life forever!
This song held me down throughout my childhood. Despite the hardships I faced, this masterpiece that was created by Sonique inspired me to continue to display love unto others and keep running forward. Now I'm at a place in my life that I never thought would come true. Thank you so much for this!

For those of you who like deep bass, at 1:20 and a few times beyond that there's a nice base line. You cannot hear it with a lot of consumer speakers/headsets, but with some you can. I found it, because it's apparently used for testing car audio systems (bass test).

What an absolute banger this track still is! All of these years later I can vividly remember what I was doing when I heard this song for the very first time. I was in my car driving home from spending the day with a guy who eventually became my boyfriend. We had just met a few days prior and decided to spend the entire day together for the first time to see if there was any chemistry. After the day was over, I got in my car feeling very giddy because it felt like this was going somewhere. I turn on the radio and this song is playing. The lyrics fit so perfectly with how I was feeling at that moment! It will always be special to me because of that. 😊
