If that wasn't the voice of Snuggles...it was her poetic heart. I have already congratulated you on finishing, but the actual trek time has just been revealed to me. During your trek, and the subsequent sojourn of your eloquent significant other(s), I have come to feel more in touch with not only you two, but the hiking community. Thanks to you both for the inclusion into your triumphs and difficulties over the past 5 months! I am 58 years old, and plan to be 62 when I start the PCT. I currently hike locally with my 5 year old German Shepherd, but know that he will be unable to accompany me then. I am a Veterinary Technician...and I know that you made the right decision for Bowie...and I applaud your knowing it, too. You have both provided, not only entertainment and inclusion...which we all desire to some extent...but and inside glimpse into the life that I crave, but have never taken the opportunity to pursue...because I have been stuck in the 9 to 5 mindset due to previous life choices. I have nothing but gladness in my heart for you both, your future, and being able to share with you, one day, my trek...which you both have helped to inspire and manifest. In reverence of solitude and togetherness, of love and awe, of the joys and hardships of doing and having done...I want you to know that you have become a welcomed and cherished part of my life, and the first members of MY official Tramily. ;)
What an awesome set of videos (and channel). Well done, Darwin. It's been very enjoyable to see your adventure on the PCT. Great to see so many things i would've otherwise never known about.
This video has all of my favorite trail things: soaking your feet on trail while eating, trail angels and trail magic, WASHINGTON on the PCT and the infamous all-you-can-eat buffet at Timberline Lodge. We talked about that buffet on trail for MILES before we got there.
I have been inspired and living vicariously throughout all of your videos. Very well composed and presented with just the right amount of information. I wish I was able to HALF of what you do! And I absolutely LOVE your bumper graphic! So VERY apropos! Thanks for your contributions! Be safe out there!
You’re in my backyard now. Goat rocks wilderness is some beautiful country. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos. I have enjoyed them from day 1. Keep going one foot at a time!
So glad yo love our state. We have a lot of hidden gems for sure.... you should spend s summer and even better yet a fall up here. Thanks for taking us along on the trail with you!
It might seem like a repetitive detail on the trail, but the visual device of the tent and getting ready for sleep is a nice storytelling touch. Very enjoyable cinematography.
You are now hiking the portion of the PCT closest to my home (about 20 miles away). I have hiked several miles of that portion, this year alone, and I recognize the two wooden bridges in the video. Welcome to Washington state!! :)
I can understand that feeling! We all go through those ups and downs! Keep your head up and know there's folks out there pulling for you! May God bless you even through those hardest times on the trail! Keep up the good work and know that the end is near! Take it one day at a time! Continue to enjoy God's mighty works and know he'll be there and guiding you throughout these last miles! God bless!
That looked like you were going through the Cispus Basin area, which is an amazing stretch of the South Cascades. Regardless, it was still an awesome section of trail. The Cascades will give you some beautiful views, but they will make you work for them! I bet by the time you hit Dishpan Gap the blueberries will be ripe and ready!
So great! Really inspiring video. Makes me want to explore the cascades! Really enjoy your positive/easy attitude and the way you tell your story. Keep it up!
Cascades are in my backyard. I've got a cabin in Gold Bar. I use it as a launch point for any one of a hundred hikes in the Central Cascades. I just did Lake Valhalla out of Steven's Pass.
Glad to see Goat Rocks/Cascades boosting your morale... In the past 5 years I've done 4-8 days backpacking in each the Sierras, Glacier, North Cascades, Tahoe, Monongahela NF/New River Gorge (~10 2-5 day trips, 2 10+ day backpacks, I live 3-5 hours drive away), the Whites and the San Juans... All of these places are more beautiful in the others in certain ways, but when it comes to a simple, unshakeable feeling of being home while still being blown away by beauty the only place I would pick before MNF/NRG/WV is the North Cascades... Simply the most beautiful piece of earth I've ever been to, it takes all of the best parts from every mountain range in north America and packs it all into one state of pure beauty...
Just crossed the knives edge two wks ago after being weathered off in a 12 hour snow storm on 9/30/17. Still had fog, wind and cold air in August! Big ass country! #HikeOn (oh wait, ur done) that swim lake looked awesome, around Trout Lake maybe?
Great views this week. Seemed like a fantastic week for the miles. Close now. Coming off trail, big lifestyle change. I'll be waiting to see next post.
I love the videos big time. Huge fan. A little bummed Oregon was glossed over in 1 full episode and a couple minutes of 2 others. But I understand, it's your show. Washington looks amazing.
Jeffrey S. Green after watching this pct series from the beginning, I have a sneaking suspicion that he might have section hiked though Oregon for whatever reason... I’m an Oregonian and I was waiting for this part of the hike for months and to see it just glossed over was ridiculous. Oregon is a huge part of the trail with all the mosquitos he was experiencing he might have just said screw it! An explanation for the one episode dedicated to Oregon would be nice.
Nope, no skipping around or section hiking....I was only in Oregon for 14 Days. 2 of those were Zero Days, where I didn't hike. Most of Oregon was Super Smooth "Easy" trail. Most days I was pushing 35-40 miles. Oregon is the Smallest Section of the PCT, weighing in just under 500 miles. I loved the state but wasn't in it long enough to be honest. Hike On, Darwin
It's sad to see the burn outs leading into Cascade Locks, I came through there last year just a week before the fires shut everything down. Thanks for the video log!
As with every year on the PCT something always happens. This year my state is covered in smoke ,Wash has had the worst air quality in the world for 2 weeks. Lucky you came through early to miss the Miriam fire but not early enough for the Cutthroat Fire , I think. I hope you were smoke free in the final stretch with so much more to see. Hopefully Wash. has showed you something that will bring you back and explore our , to many too count , other awesome trails.
What dates did you hike into Washington (and then out to Canada) Cause your weather seems magnificent, especially compared to what I've seen on Dixie's vlog last year and Mick's blog this year (the fires seem to be a larger problem in late summer?) The desert doesn't appeal to me very much, but maybe an Oregon/Washington section hike someday in the distant future...
Thank you for your honesty on how challenging the hike can be at times. The world would be a better place if we stopped pretending everyday is great and awesome and we got it all figured out. Thank you for showing us on how to be a human.😁
DID YOUR KATADYN BE FREE FILTER TASTE LIKE THE THE POUCH THAT HOLDS THE WATER & DOES THE TASTE / FLAVOR GO AWAY? AWESOME VIEWS! BE SAFE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! HOPE YOUR WISH COMES TRUE! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS! ENJOY! TO THE YOUNG MAN THAT'S HIKING WITH YOU!
So what are your new shoes? Any chance your going to try out the lone peaks 4.0? You talked about how much you like your Altra's so I bought a pair of the 4.0. I love them!
I was so glad that you were a cool guy meeting your hero and having him be an asshole would really suck but you stepped up and where awsome hero for me
Darwin, I know this is trivial, but, I noticed toward the last of the film that it looks like you've cut the wrist straps of of your trekking poles too? I finally realized I never use them and recently cut mine off. Worried whether I'd regret it later or not but figured would find out.
Started removing my straps, because I just don't use them alot! No Regrets + I don't "Cut Them", I remove the pin so they can be added back on! Hike On, Darwin
Hi, why did you change packs and why this one. What water filter have you changed too and why. Are you still hiking in altra timps? Your have red laces? Did you have trouble keeping them tied?
Darwin your memory might be failing you. In this episode you mention 116 days with 0 storms. Have you forgotten about getting chased off the mountain by a snow storm while in the Sierra's?
If that wasn't the voice of Snuggles...it was her poetic heart. I have already congratulated you on finishing, but the actual trek time has just been revealed to me. God bless you Connie... you are AWESOME !
This video has all of my favorite trail things: soaking your feet on trail while eating, trail angels and trail magic, WASHINGTON on the PCT and the infamous all-you-can-eat buffet at Timberline Lodge. We talked about that buffet on trail for MILES before we got there.
I live right down the road from White Pass. It is so wonderful to see how much you appreciate the beauty of the area I live in as much as I do!!
Gonna call into work soon...tell em I'm taking a zero :) Thanks for the vids!
Good Plan!!!👌
Hike On,
Darwin
Ha ha love it!!
Right on! I think I will try that 😂
I have been inspired and living vicariously throughout all of your videos. Very well composed and presented with just the right amount of information. I wish I was able to HALF of what you do! And I absolutely LOVE your bumper graphic! So VERY apropos! Thanks for your contributions! Be safe out there!
Congratulations its been a real pleasure watching your thru hike Cannot wait for your next adventure
It's nice to hear honest feelings about the trail. It is truly a love -hate relationship.
You’re in my backyard now. Goat rocks wilderness is some beautiful country. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos. I have enjoyed them from day 1. Keep going one foot at a time!
This may well be your best video to date. I really felt I was on the trail with you. Thanks!
Thanks G! Glad I could bring you along!
Hike On,
Darwin
So glad yo love our state. We have a lot of hidden gems for sure.... you should spend s summer and even better yet a fall up here. Thanks for taking us along on the trail with you!
Seriously, thanks so much for making this series! Probably my favourite thing on TH-cam.
Awesome.
Love living up here in Washington in the North Cascades and glad to see how much you enjoy it.
Yup. Love living in the cascades.
I really love how you give tangible credit to the trail angels. they deserve it!
That lady! Oh how amazing she is! The world needs more people like her! Nice to see you trying out the Katadyn Befree filter! It's awesome!
You're the man for sure. Definitely enjoy the vids. Good luck on the rest of the trail!
D, you never disappoint, even when you are trail fatigued. The Cascades are beautiful.
Thanks, I try...lol
Hike On,
Darwin
Loving these videos. Can't wait to see the rest of Washington! Keep on keepin on 🤙
Sitting at this desk I really appreciate your videos.
The bridge of the gods! Ugh man i cant wait
This video was a wonderful way to start my day.
The Timberline Lodge looked familiar!! I looked it up and it was used for the exterior shots in The Shining.
Great videos, I can honestly say this is pretty well done and fun to watch
It might seem like a repetitive detail on the trail, but the visual device of the tent and getting ready for sleep is a nice storytelling touch. Very enjoyable cinematography.
Love the videos Darwin! I can’t wait to start the PCT adventure
I wish you would hesitate some more on the scenery. So beautiful but fleeting. Great videos.
Fez was thinking, "Heck it's my birthday, I'm hiking all the way to a motel with a bed and hot shower!"
You are now hiking the portion of the PCT closest to my home (about 20 miles away). I have hiked several miles of that portion, this year alone, and I recognize the two wooden bridges in the video. Welcome to Washington state!! :)

Thanks for your great videos. And I for one think your voice goes really well with the content. Calm and thoughtful.
Welcome to my beautiful home, Washington State! Enjoy your stay and keep on truckin!

Those are some ridiculously pretty views: I'd want to stop and enjoy them more :)
The Bridge of the Gods takes my breath away every time. Can't wait to cross it on my own thru hike.
Incredible filming, Darwin.
Thanks!
Hike On,
Darwin

A portion of the more spectacular Oregon PCT burned/is closed due to the Eagle Creek fire in the Columbia gorge last summer, fyi.
Monica Randall 18 episodes in California, 1 episode in Oregon. I can’t imagine the northern eagle creek fire took out the whole trail.
Nope, no skipping around or section hiking....I was only in Oregon for 14 Days. 2 of those were Zero Days, where I didn't hike. Most of Oregon was Super Smooth "Easy" trail. I said a portion of the trail.
It's sad to see the burn outs leading into Cascade Locks, I came through there last year just a week before the fires shut everything down. Thanks for the video log!
I agree, Washington is one the most beautiful places.
Oh, I got trail magic from Connie and her huge dog at that spot last year. Awesome lady!
Omg that lake looked gorgeous!!!!
I stopped the video @2:44 and just stared for a minute. Man that looks good.
You gave me inspiration and encouragement to do hiking. You are amazing man and I like you...
Always amazing Darwin
Hi from Holland. Thanks for sharing and happy birthday to Fez :)
Just found your channel/videos. You make great content, Darwin.
Almost there! Nice work. Stay warm man.
Awsome Video Darwin! Always enjoy your Videos my friend!
Another awesome Video (y) loved every moment..
Man the views after the point were you stated may get bad weather are awesome!
8:24 Misspelling on the sign. Yakima is a city. Yakama is a tribe. Silly maybe, but there it is.
Such a great series.
Glad to see your spirits rise towards the end of the video. ATB!
The Goat Rocks are ALWAYS a morale booster for me and always busy. Hooe you find Fez. MP
As with every year on the PCT something always happens. This year my state is covered in smoke ,Wash has had the worst air quality in the world for 2 weeks. I have wonder-lust thanks to you Darwin! I hope to run into you some day!
You walked miles along your way to say happy birthday. You got Heart, ... and more miles.
Love your videos!! Does anyone know the name of the lake or campsite where Darwin and Fez stayed at minute 5:01?? Looks beautiful. Thank you!!
What dates did you hike into Washington (and then out to Canada) Cause your weather seems magnificent, especially compared to what I've seen on Dixie's vlog last year and Mick's blog this year (the fires seem to be a larger problem in late summer?) Trail Magic so awesome!!! 8:13 thats my concern on hiking the AT that rain will be frequent :(
Your almost there!
I enjoy your videos very inspirational.
I miss Washington so much!
It was good seeing you at PCT days! Hope you and snuggles can join us again next year
Really enjoyed this hike. Well done man.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FEZ!
Thank you for your honesty on how challenging the hike can be at times. The world would be a better place if we stopped pretending everyday is great and awesome and we got it all figured out. Thank you for showing us on how to be a human.😁

Beautiful as always...wow! Darwin, did you find Fez? Happy Birthday Fez!!!!
Omg that trail magic!
That woman was a trail GODESS !!
What size pack did you get from Waymark? I also saw you using the BeFree water filter. Really hope you do a review on the gear you tried out!
It's a Thru 40...
Hike On,
Darwin

Thanks, wish mine had had a pin but didn't see one.
Great videos, my buddy told me to check out your channel, I'm glad I did, keep it up! Excellent footage!
Did it storm? That point in the video made me laugh out loud so loud!! "116 days on the trail and.... yaaaaaaahh" HAHAHA!!!!
Hello Washington! Is that a Black Sheep reference? Cris Farley👍
Hi, why did you change packs and why this one. What water filter have you changed too and why. Are you still hiking in altra timps? Your have red laces? Did you have trouble keeping them tied?
Nothing wrong, he’s trying new gear over the last section of the hike.
Belated Happy Birthday to Fez!
Darwin your memory might be failing you. In this episode you mention 116 days with 0 storms. Have you forgotten about getting chased off the mountain by a snow storm while in the Sierra's?
I meant Zero Rain... The Snow Storms where a totally different Beast all together!
Hike On,
Darwin
Wow ! great video......thought you were in the Swiss Alps
Beautiful! Thanks
do we have to stay tuned to find out what happened to Fez?
Nicely done.
So incredibly awesome.
I am interested in how that Waymark pack compares to your Zpack pack.
He did a review on it. Check it out.
Hi Darwin.. I watched through all these today, and I was wondering- minus injuries, and up in the Sierra/nev- what was your average cadence on trail?
