    Probably 3 weeks into taking fishing seriously. Fished as a kid and messing around now and then. But I have found your videos to be (for me) more informative and relatable than most other channels. I like some other guys as well. But I always check you first for information. Thanks for your help man!

    I started using the swim jig the last 2 times out and this last time I varied it up by adding an upward swing then a fall and it got hammered. So as I watch your video's I am learning more and more to vary retrieves and presentations. Keep up the great content.

    I had the best day of fishing in my life this weekend using a swim jig. It’s mid October and here in MN the pads/millfoil are dying off so I finally retired the frog and started chucking a 3/8 oz green pumpkin swim jig and it was on! I caught so many large mouth my thumb was raw by the end of the day.

    As always love the videos and tips but at this moment want to applaud your editor(s) for the “Lews” tag coming up in the bottom left corner as the fish you tossed back in splashed. 6:37 Very cool and well put together. A simple thing but probably most never noticed it. Respect for that

Hey Tyler try the rainbow color from OutKast tackle it has tinsel mixed in with the skirt you will get alot more bites I think that tinsel makes the skirt alot more visible and it's easier for the bass to to track it and hammer it god bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike.

    Can you do a video on what you carry in your backpack when going fishing?

  • @black.beerd.gaming
    @black.beerd.gaming ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: So, I've been hearing a ton about pads and vegetation. My question is, with you mentioning the height of the sun (or time of the day) and how the bite turns off as sun gets higher, could this be because of the shadow that the pad or vegetation supplies, thins, as the sun gets higher? Therefore, taking away the fish's positional advantage (the shadows)? The reason I ask this is because, I've been getting skunked hard, but I've also been getting on the water very late and it's a very crowded lake.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm I guess I would have to go back and watch what I said in this video. In northern climates, the bite underneath vegetation will get better as the sun gets higher because it positions to fish underneath, and gives them shade.
      Down south in the hot months, it just gets too hot in general for the fish to stay shallow during the heat of the day, even underneath shade, unless it is intense shade like a boat dock
      But yes, one of your biggest problems is the time you are getting out there. Try before sunrise until one hour after. I bet you will have some success.

    • @TylersReelFishing

      Because a swimbait doesn’t actually imitate a tail at all. Tails of a fish aren’t round and flapping side to side. A more cylindrical trailer looks more like an actual baitfish

    you can get away with 12-14# sniper. you'll also lose more with wide sweeping hooksets like you did in this vid; just watch your line and keep reeling lifting slightly once you feel them on. try it and let me know what you think. the greatest swimjig angler of all time runs 12# line, but see a lot of your youtube peers pitching 17# and up. i prefer 12-14#. anyway, great vid.

    • @HBeretta
      @HBeretta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jbob2852 agree with you with regard to heavy cover. the swimjig is just as deadly in open water and around sparse isolated cover ie stumps, sticks and lay downs etc...or bare banks. i've had a ton of success on 12# assassin as i throw only qtr oz swimjigs. i've even pulled them out of heavy mats on 12# fluoro floating it over the mats granted you can't just rip them out. but around lily pads...braid IS a must and will not throw fluoro around lily pads. likewise i like 30# sunline sx1 as it saws through grass. if the water is clear or if i'm around wood i do like a 2' fluoro 15-20# leader tied on. if i'm swimjigging though it's always shallow...no deeper than 4' and ideally 1-2'. Tyler is legit and was poking at the title as it truly is different strokes for different folks...but i always try to get away with lighter line first as the action on the bait is better. when i run 12# fluoro i'm reel setting...on braid then it's sweeps all day.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the Anglr Bullseye! Pretty cool deal for pre-fishing/breaking down water but even better for actually fishing. The Anglr app is basically a digital logbook that allows you to drop waypoints and saves all sorts of data about each fish catch that you can come back in later and view or edit. Stuff like wind speed and direction, air temp, barometric pressure, etc. The app is free but they offer add-ons like the Bullseye that just make it a lot easier to use and better. That's the little thing on my hat in the video. It's like 30 bucks but you can bluetooth link it to your phone and that way each time you catch a fish you just hit the Bullseye and it logs all that stuff without having to take your phone out each time. People compare ANGLR to Fishbrain, but it’s wayyyy better than Fishbrain

    Proper hook set on a swim jig isn't much of one at all. Think of a spinnerbait or crankbait - with the proper gear, the rod should load naturally - doing it for you. Plus, you're not old enough to know this yet (not a shot at ya)...but confidence and personal style speaks to if a person is "doing it wrong" or not. The more people you fish with, the more you'll learn...and some stuff will surprise you.

      @@TylersReelFishing Yeah, I figured that was the reason...it's just a personal pet peeve for me, lol. I'm old school. It's the "gotcha" titles bit...I steer clear of most of them. Titles may draw people in once or twice, but it doesn't keep them. I've been around longer than TH-cam...lurking and watching it grow. I think people should have to take an IQ test before being allowed to purchase a Gopro. Lol (not meaning you)

      I understand the way you feel towards gotcha titles, but I hope you can see mine a bit different. My titles in no way Clickbait people into watching content that does not reflect the title. I just know how to use the correct words in the correct way to get people to engage with the content. And I have a proven track record that the way I do things works. This is my full-time job and it would not be if I was doing something wrong

  • @rlb3lkf
    @rlb3lkf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Once you stop reeling and pause aren't you essentially just jigging and not swim-jigging? Seemed like swim-jigging was not what caught those fish.

    • @TylersReelFishing
      @TylersReelFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, because I had to swim it back to the boat eventually, even if slower than a normal retrieve. This was called a stop-and-go retrieve, which I did very slowly. Still a swim jig

    Just as others have mentioned, it does need a dab of oil before you use it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e - put a few drops in through the convenient screw cap and you are good to go! I have fished several weeks with a couple of these, and I will be getting more in the future. I put these against my Abu Garcia Pro Max reel, and they actually perform a bit better than the Abu with some of my lighter cranks, and definitely just as good with the rest of my lures. My Abu is a bit more low profile and fits my hand better, but these are definitely not bad at all. You can almost get 3 of these for the price of my Pro Max. My only complaint is the thumb bar sits pretty high compared to my traditional profile Abu. Bring that thumb bar down a little and I’m sold on these all day long.
