To be married to a craftsman is to be married to a perfectionist. . . and that's not an easy road. But all that craft came from years of practice. Your own amazing musical freedom was not inspired from slack, but born of your own perfectionism, the disciplines of scales, of muscle-memory, of practicing for long hours --hours which Aladino did not have to live through with you, or he'd grow weary of it, too.😉 So just know your boating freedom together will be born of sanding and more sanding, measuring, painting, and re-painting. Every task is part of creating the rhythm of freedom you'll enjoy once you are asea! Courage, dear heart!
Keep the faith, Maya. We sense a sadness in your energy last few episodes. You are so very talented, blessed and loved by all your supporters. Aladino…you are quite the craftsman. Just wow!
At the risk of being accused of being overly optimistic, Maya herself talked about the fact that Aladino was going to be filming himself rather than Maya doing so, so that Maya could do sanding and prep (off camera) rather than following Aladino around. No speculation needed!
I sensed the same thing. Having been down that road I know how hard it is to keep the dream alive. Blue water and fair breezes are hard to imagine when you are covered with glass, and are inhaling paint fumes. I would suggest a break. Go on a road trip or back to the small boat. Few can push day after day without a break. Often just checking things off the to do list, is not reward enough. Better to take a break now, than to break your relationship or your dreams.
Same sentiment here. I'm really worried. I can only hope and pray Maya manages to recharge her battery somehow! One thing is for sure, that is going to be the Cape George cutter to outlive all others! Hang in there both of you, you are doing a phenomenal job!
Take heart Maya, I sense you are getting more than a little fed-up with the list of things that must be done. When you are sailing on blue water towards Hawaii, the toll of all this work will be forgotten.
HEAR! HEAR!! MY DEAR!! Maya, knowing that all the drudgery of taping and sanding has not been your particular cup of tea, can I just tell you how proud I am of you?! The pain of this trial you’ve been enduring will not only soon fade into the distance but be replaced with the most magnificent sense of accomplishment whenever you cast your gaze upon any of the finished product as you rock gently in blissful relaxation at anchor for decades to come! You’ll never be the same person you were before, rather, SO MUCH MORE!! I’ve no doubt that your stamina will hold until you’ve crossed the finish line and beyond!! Thanks so much to both of you for all your hard work in creating this magnificent content for all of your devoted fans and viewers!!! Aladino, you’re simply incredible and I could literally watch you slay this dragon all day every without getting bored. It’s all exceedingly educational!! May the good Lord keep you both bonded like the amazing finishes you bring together!! Stay strong my young adventurers!!
Agreed with those who have also sensed a change in Maya's energy. I hope she can get it back as this mega project is moving faster and faster towards completion. I cant imagine what it will be like when the boat is in the water and we are watching them sail the globe. That reward is coming. Kudos to Aladino for picking up pretty much all the filming recently and his tireless work ethic of doing it right and not necessarily doing it fast. Sending smiles and happy energy your way!!!
Maya, you are such a talented film maker, it really shows when you make the time to focus on that, this channel owes it’s success to your talent, nurture it.
Oh Maya. I can feel your struggle, and Aladino is burying himself in his work. I so hope you can find the strength, and money, to see this through. Rooting for you ❤
I know that it was a marathon part of the build, the project is at the stage of Overwhelming, your both anxious, tired and scratching at the post to get done. What you can't see on your side of the camerais your audience of 20,000 + viewers chomping at the bit wishing they could accomplish, or are also in the process of accomplishing their own projects. This is how dreams become reality, and yourr's is happiening right now. It's okay to take a break, a little down time to reset the clock. You earned it.
Poor Maya! I can hear the weariness in her voice, and see it in her stance. This is your story, Maya and Aladino; it's uniquely yours. The end result is going to be truly to have a Magic Carpet that will take you to places you have only dreamt about! Each step gets you closer. Take a look at Acorn to Arabella; they launched last week after seven years hard graft, and she's a magnificent craft. In a different way, but with the same attention to detail, you are both travelling the same road. The reward will be worth it. Courage, amis, courage.
It's really encouraging to see young people accepting this level of sacrifice, to accomplish long term goals. In a world of instant gratification, this project stands out as a great example of what it really takes to connect hard work to reward. Thank you for your perseverance and positive attitude, Aladino.
Maya, you are a great musician, I love when you play the violin and you stepping back to assist with the boat build and filming only makes me appreciate and anticipate on when you are able to do that again! You do such a good job on story telling, filming, editing and your music choices are awesome! Get some rest and take some time for you, and you and Aladino!!! I can remember when Aladino was not too keen being on camera. Look at him now! He has come a long way and I think that is due to you! Love the fresh coat of paint! great to see the progress in front of you, because we all know how important prep work is, but it gets tiresome! Magic Carpet II us coming along nicely!!!! Great job!
The visuals to you must be very satisfying. Hang in there, progress is happening. What an intense craftsmen couple you both are. Most of us are not capable of such patience or detailed, excellent work. When you are done you will have a capable world traveler....
Aladino knows it is a long drawn out process to get the boat right. Maya is learning and she is growing weary. Hang in there sweetheart, it will be worth it!! Coming from a 70 year old land lubber!! You 2 really make an old man's day!!
Aladino I spent 40 years painting and fairing as it's called in boat building, and I half to say what a hell of job it's looking awesome and to Maya your work is why it looks so good a paint job is only as good as the preparation work and that's a fact!!
Following along all these months, I’m happy to see your workspace always so clean. Cleanup is tedious. Bravo for appreciating how important that backwork is. It does not come easily.
Congrats to you both! New paint can give a new lease on life! Aladino, thanks for making it seem so fun! And Maya, as a fellow I'd-MUCH-rather-be-sailing-than-endlessly-sanding adventurer, I'm longing for you to feel the energized joy that you deserve and that will be yours again soon! I'm wondering if channeling your amazing musicality into composing a violin tune (blues, maybe?) about enddddlessssss sanding might uplift you? ... or else exploring if a task (even a tiny one) could be done as if it were a love letter to your boat? For she, too, would MUCH rather be sailing! Meanwhile, she lies there so exposed, pulled apart with her flaws exposed, as she's lovingly put back together piece by piece -- She will hold your life and dreams and will take care of you, all the way around the world.
You two are amazing! Aladino your attention to detail is an asset especially when it comes to boat work. Maya stay strong and remember to keep your eyes on the prize. Love your videos.
Aladino's interior painting should be named. 'Fancy fishing rod holder yoga' a primary element of which is the functional purpose not the motion centric justifcation and gratification. Prep work is key and Maya's demanding sanding will keep those paint layers glowing. For a moment I thought the plan was toinsert glass into the hatch cover and deck below, and then I realised he meant fibreglassing the deck.
One more word on the Dorades: try to fashion the boxes so that they can easily be opened. Once, I had to leave my boat alone for some time, and when I came back there was a hornet's nest in one of them. Getting rid of the critters was a hell of a job. They're dangerous _and_ protected over here. Cheers
Good times 🎉 the Duracell guy would make the hatch out of foam core and then vacuum bag it. I wonder what the weight difference would be? That weight is up high as well. But teak is nice 👍
The closer you guys get to the exterior, the more you need to STUDY the literature on where/how to paint the waterline. Aladino seems to have hit the point of silliness in this project my favourite part of a project. You built magic carpet (1) on your own(for the most part) so thanks your letting us see into your joy of building a sailboat. Maya, hold on to his confidence enthusiasm; ALadin, thank you for stepping up and letting us see into your joy with this rebuild. That shot with aladino looking at the paint really show his attention to detail.
So excited to see your progress. I just saw that another Cape George 36 just won the Golden Globe single handed around the world race. You are going to have a well found vessel, able to take you anywhere.
Thank you so much for this video. Don't underestimate the value of sanding and epoxy Maya. Without that and your great video production, this whole thing would not be happening. Back to the real world here, just going to cut an inspection port in a 10 year old holding tank 😢. The fun never ends.
Maya, we all enjoy watching you do those epoxy and sanding jobs too. Try not to devalue what you do. Its all inspirational .. and the payday will be a beautiful yacht to cruise the world. (Come to NZ .. I'll show you around)
Aladino, we have such respect and admiration for your incredible positivity. As Maya says, you really are amazing. "No pressure mate!" And Maya, we appreciate how hard this stage is for you, but it's a bit like going to the dentist. If you can get your mind to fast forward walking out of the dental surgery, it helps cope with the process. You will soon be sailing Magic Carpet 1 around the beautiful Swedish coastline again, enchanting us all with your wonderful videos and you will reflect back on the hard yakka that had to be done to turn dreams into reality, which is what you are both doing now. We send you both our love from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Paul and Anna.
An awe-inspiring episode where we finally get to see the result of all your hard work! Aladino and Maya - you are truly an inspiration to all your followers! Looking forward to next Friday already...
Looks amazing, that Epifanes paint seems to cover really well! and Maya don't sell yourself short epoxying drawersis as important as painting the walls, next time you should also film your work too we want to see!!!
I see what you're going through Maya. Listen, you're doing great and you cannot do anything wrong. If sanding is what has to be done then just do it and if anything else, just do it. You're a warrior soul and you can do whatever is needed. 💚💚💚
mpressive craftsmanship with precision from Aladino. Maya: amazing video production, without your skills there would be no Magic Carpet channel for us to follow. Keep your spirits up, you ROCK!!!!!!
Oh my God this boat is looking so beautiful I can't wait to see her in the water great job buddy and whoever is doing the video editing also great job always enjoy watching your videos thank you
Aladino you are truly performing a labor of love with the boat. Maya your choices of music for the videos are very tasteful and a joy to listen too. You to keep up the good work, it will pay off!
Hugs 🤗 Maya. It’s coming to an end and you’ll be able to get back to the things that fill your heart up ❤. I’m looking forward to the songs 🎶 music 🎻 and scenic videography. The boat looks great. Can’t wait for SPLASH DAY. 😘
This program is not safe for dinner! Cooked myself a nice plate of spaghetti I almost spat all over my screen - ninja turtle Aladino! Man, you're a total dude!
Bear hug Maya , take your time. Congrats to lladino for persisting with this eternal reconstruction. I'm sure you re both longing for the work to get finished and reaping the fruits of your very hard labour! A Dutchman in England
You two have put some backbreaking work into the boat she will be worth a lot when finished not only in value but also in pride and craftmanship as you have re-designed and strengthened her so much now she will last another 70 years easily now and when in storms will glide through like a tank as she is so strong now the sides and fixings were poorly fixed together but now she is solid and now you have a boat to your likings and comfort and storage and practicability and modernised flying carpet now she will be practically new again well done you two so proud of you and can't wait to see her in the water and you guys sailing into the sunset with a massive kiss and a cuddle as you deserve it both of you and I hope you become lifetime partners and cell-mates so all the best from John from Rugby UK.
If the Titanic sub disaster teaches us anything, it’s that there is no room in seagoing vessels for slipshod workmanship, risky procedures or half-measures. Fortunately, none of those words are in Aladino’s vocabulary.
I love the sail life and watch lots of sailing channels. I have been a sailor for fifty years on and off but my beautiful wife can't hang. I love her more than sailing so I live vicariously through these channels. You guys are the best. Aladino could own and run a boat building company and Mia could Run an AV company. I am glad you do what you do. Mia a note. My oldest son plays 2 dozen instruments and is in three bands, and plays at south by southwest 6 years. His bands last tour he almost broke even. Luckily he builds speakers and owns a company that builds speakers. You are a fabulous musician and great creator. I think you have broken the code of getting your music out there.
You guys are doing it the best way. Everything is inconvenient, just choose whether it is now or later. Extra prep work is like banking calmness for the future.
Another great show this boat's going to be amazing because of the way you two work together, I'm still in the health care facility and the time I get to spend watching you guys is a nice escape Thank You
Maya as a tradesman myself I'm qualified to say Aladino is a next level master craftsmen..........." just a little more prep"....... but he must drive you nuts sometimes. Great work guys!
GOLDEN GLOBE RACE: not sure if it has been commented on before, but I read in Good Old Boat magazine that Kirsten Nauschafer of South Africa won the recent 22-23 Golden Globe solo around-the-world race aboard her CAPE GEORGE 36... The race is a competition between only full-keel sailboats. Beyond the credit that must go to this expert skipper, surely much credit must also go to the Cape George 36 design. A good choice for Magic Carpet II..
With such a skilled, driven partner, Maya, its clear you're feeling a bit of a spare part, but you're failing to see the much bigger role you're playing than just sanding and prep work - we all see this as an equal and joint adventure, and excellent to follow, so thank you both.
You both are amazing! Just the two of you doing all that work and doing it exquisitely requires love, kindness and understanding. Can't wait to see videos of your adventures after you splash! In the mean time keep the faith, it is all going to work out!
Outstanding team work and dedacaton toward your dream, the road can seam hard, but those sea glazed sunsets are just around the next corner. Well done.

I would buy that t-shirt. @sailingmagiccarpet

In the middle of a corporate meeting and saw magic carpet uploaded....well won't be paying attention to this meeting any more lol
Corporate meetings are overrated and usually deadly. Deadly boring.
Aladino’s attention to detail and work ethic is amazing. The world needs more Aladino’s.
Maya, you are such a talented film maker, it really shows when you make the time to focus on that, this channel owes it’s success to your talent, nurture it.
Thank you both for sticking with it and reminding us - inspiring us - that perfection is worth the work and the wait.

"Time flies when you're having fun" -Aladino, boat builder extraordinaire
Maya dear you guys are getting close! Hang in there girl!
It's really encouraging to see young people accepting this level of sacrifice, to accomplish long term goals. In a world of instant gratification, this project stands out as a great example of what it really takes to connect hard work to reward. Thank you for your perseverance and positive attitude, Aladino.
Boy! What a day it will be when these two put their boat out!
One word is all that is needed ...
" BEAUTIFUL " 😊😊😊
Maya, you are a great musician, I love when you play the violin and you stepping back to assist with the boat build and filming only makes me appreciate and anticipate on when you are able to do that again! The end is nearing. Like any big project...it tests your relationship, but makes the reward that much more exciting.
Your boat will be so awesome when it’s done. And you will know every inch is perfect.
Wow. Your meticulous preparation is making a beautiful end product. I can’t wait to see the boat finished.
The visuals to you must be very satisfying. Hang in there, progress is happening. What an intense craftsmen couple you both are. Most of us are not capable of such patience or detailed, excellent work. When you are done you will have a capable world traveler....
If I ever have a turtle as a pet I'm going to name it Aladino. 😄 Boat looks great! Keep up the hard work, it will pay off in the end.
And its cage magic carpet. 😁
Aladino knows it is a long drawn out process to get the boat right. Maya is learning and she is growing weary. Hang in there sweetheart, it will be worth it!! Coming from a 70 year old land lubber!! You 2 really make an old man's day!!

If you all had some swag that said “just a little more prep work” I would buy it 😂 Great work as always you two! It’s really coming together.
Following along all these months, I’m happy to see your workspace always so clean. Cleanup is tedious. Bravo for appreciating how important that backwork is. It does not come easily.
Congrats to you both! New paint can give a new lease on life! Aladino, thanks for making it seem so fun! Aladino, what an amazing job, the interior looks awesome.
"Sanding" APPLAUSE!
Superiorly commendable/ exquisite!
Cheers
Painting is 90% prep. Mia the master of prep.
You both are doing an amazing job! It will be so worth it in the end, keep the faith you will get there!!!
Looking so good❣ There's nothing like a fresh coat of paint to brighten things up and give a glimpse of the finished product!
Good times 🎉 the Duracell guy would make the hatch out of foam core and then vacuum bag it. I wonder what the weight difference would be? That weight is up high as well. But teak is nice 👍
The star of this beautiful series is the vacuum cleaner! 😁
once again your skills shine through. When ever anyone I know, talks about renovating their yacht, I steer them your way.
The closer you guys get to the exterior, the more you need to STUDY the literature on where/how to paint the waterline. Painted too high (out of the water), painted too low (under water), or painted NOT PARALLEL to the water will ruin that signature esthetic perfection you've worked so long and hard to achieve. Volunteer Maya to do the research on how this was done in olden days while you finish the interior work. I'm sure Maya will do a great job for you! The work done thus far has been remarkable by any standard. Your followers are getting excited as you guys approach the finish line. I'm certain that MC2 will a head-turner in whichever port you dock at, or whichever mooring ball you tie-up to. And then all of your followers will think, "I watched Aladino and Maya bring this boat back to life, and it is so beautiful!
This boat is not a new build. The waterline is already established and painted.
You could spend hours researching..or you could just look at the hull
With these two and Aladino's skill and attention to detail, Magic Carpet ll will be the most seaworthy, beautiful boat on the seven seas.
Aladino seems to have hit the point of silliness in this project my favourite part of a project. You built magic carpet (1) on your own(for the most part) so thanks your letting us see into your joy of building a sailboat. Thank you so much for this video. Don't underestimate the value of sanding and epoxy Maya. Without that and your great video production, this whole thing would not be happening. Back to the real world here, just going to cut an inspection port in a 10 year old holding tank 😢. The fun never ends.
...may I request some Irish folk songs Maya,, it's special when your Violin tracks accompany the video's.. Bravo folks MCII is looking amazing👍⛵👍
Everything needs to be better together guys, even the bad shit.... you're both doing awesome, be proud and push through!!
Maya, Aladino, The paint looks great - the boat really is coming along nicely. Keep up the great work!
Maya, we all enjoy watching you do those epoxy and sanding jobs too. Try not to devalue what you do. Its all inspirational .. and the payday will be a beautiful yacht to cruise the world. (Come to NZ .. I'll show you around)

An awe-inspiring episode where we finally get to see the result of all your hard work! Aladino and Maya - you are truly an inspiration to all your followers! Looking forward to next Friday already...
Well done both of you, it's looking great, you're making real progress and you will get there xx
The paint and kitchen drawers looks fabulous. Keep the faith you two. The boat is going to be a classic.

So impressed! What a job! Maya - miss your music!
Guys, it’s really looking great
"Starting to doubt you...(lyrics)." Sin duda, Aladino's got this.
Aladino is a Refit Machine! Bravo!!
"It looks really good", Aladino humbly stated. I say "outstanding work, you two!!"
I see what you're going through Maya. Listen, you're doing great and you cannot do anything wrong. If sanding is what has to be done then just do it and if anything else, just do it. You're a warrior soul and you can do whatever is needed. 💚💚💚

need interview with aladino's old bosses and more on his process of learning boat building. there's a lot more there if he wants to share...
Great Job Guys, Lol I was just thinking how the insides remind me of a Whales mouth.....What a Mural that would be!
From when you guys first got this boat, to all you have done, just amazing. Till next Friday. ❤️
Aladino would be hard to live with. Such a perfectionist.
Indeed it is coming along fine. Keep believing.
Fantastic hard work you both do, its going to be like a new built boat once finished 🙏
Glad the Maya is back in the videos!! Hoping for some music soon ;)
Phenomenal how much you have accomplished 😮 especially considering the level of perfection. It’s going to be beautiful 😊
Magnificent effort by both of you.
OMG! Aladino had me busting a gut from the opening ninja turtle! 😂
Keep up the good work. its quite the journey, but so is every great undertaking. all the best
Aladino I've been on many big projects, the key is to keep checking boxes, dont get overwhelmed. Great work brother
Amazing job! Keep up the amazing work, producing a piece of art for the sea.
I absolutely love watching you work and ALL of the work you put into making it as close to perfect as you can. Thank you for keeping us entertained
With such a skilled, driven partner, Maya, its clear you're feeling a bit of a spare part, but you're failing to see the much bigger role you're playing than just sanding and prep work - we all see this as an equal and joint adventure, and excellent to follow, so thank you both.
Almost there and looking great!
I love the satin finish over the cabin side! Looks great!
Go team Magic Carpet Go!!!💪
Wow it looks great and the trim is what’s doing it , a great vision come to reality, stay cool stay loving stay safe up that high!
Love Aladino’s Ninja Turtle comment. He has a good sense of humor. The paint on the interior is beautiful. Great progress is being made.
Love the quality of your work….you will be sailing soon!
I can't wait to see the end result. Your work is so beautiful. Hugs to you both. So cool watching you work.
Well done.
