Dude straight up said "let's get weird" and drops this masterpiece of an album along with an amazing anime. Classic Sturgill melody & howl meets ZZ Top grooves and retro Synthwave ambience. How many other musicians out there have the balls to experiment like this anymore? Sturgill & the band got my eternal respect.

I was home chilling and watched the movie on Netflix. Normally don’t listen to much rock, but this whole soundtrack is the deal. There’s a like an old blues feeling to some of his songs.

I played this for my mom, who's a 68 year-old Cuban woman, and she was singing the hook by the end! I couldn't believe it. She was bobbing her head lol. This dude is amazing, and so is this album.
im a metal head, through and through, i grew up listening to stuff like metallica and black sabbath, and now days listen to a lot of melodic death metal. when i heard/saw this on netflix i was listening to the album on repeat for the next 3 days on my way to and from work. such a good album.

I've watched the Netflix movie 3 times already. I don't know if I love the music or visuals better. They're both great. The big dance number near the beginning was the highlight for me.

@Jesus Christ indeed, that he has played country in his time or something similar, does not mean that this album is, although there may be influences and some breeze that reminds country, but fuck that happens in all musical styles.
1st- I never said it was a country album or that Simpson was locked in some kind of stylistic box. I was actually implying the opposite.
2nd- its a fact that he has been a country artist most of his career. While this album is more rock and roll than his usual, his country music influence is all over this album, particularly in his singing style.
