I bought two of these to use in my studio. First, to transfer studio recordings I made back in the analog days and second to do the same for clients. I used to own a Tascam 122 but it got lost over the years so I picked up these on eBay. I had no clue how to use the CUE feature. You have done a fantastic job explaining this feature! Thank you so much!
When I read the manual for the Tascam 133, I discovered that it was made specifically for use with automated slide shows. The peculiar cue track and the cue connectors on the rear panel are there to meet that purpose. It's kind of a niche machine in that regard.
Just got one of these from my technician fully serviced. Swapping out the dumb Akai. Will match my Tascam TSR 8-trk reel-reel. Got manual but this’s excellent as a “Quick Start” ... thanks heaps
I started to watch the Netflix original series I Am Not Okay With This and a main character has this deck in his stereo system. That is why I'm here checking this out. I may pick one up on eBay! Thanks for uploading this!
Question : When you press REW with door closed and NO cassette tape, does your 133 stop right away after 1 second, or does it continue to keep rewind?? I'm trying to fix problem with REW not stopping when I use cassette. Thanks
Hi, I am wondering. When I rewind my tape, on some settings the the tape ends but the left tape wheel keep spinning, the right wheel stopped because end of tape, and counter still counting? Is it possible the left wheel is not connecting properly to the cassette? It's OK when I use the counter because at 0 it's plays or stop , but if I hit rewind it keeps spinning even though the tape is completely rewind. ???
Hi! Can you record on standard cassette or do I have to find a special 3 channel cassette? From where do you buy new empty cassettes today in 2020? Thx in advance!
@@LapisandHamtarolover yeah, I have since got a 234 and 238. I did try recording on the cue track on the 133, and works great. Just no dolby but sounds great.
@rcary the 134 is more optimized for audio signal in the cue track compared to 133. Much like the difference between microphone input and line level input. Moreso with 234 since it allow 2 separate cue tracks.
@@LapisandHamtarolover 134 looks nice. I love the look of my 133. Heavy duty , built like a tank. Makes lovely solenoid noises when controls are used. 😄
If the motor does not spin, then something wrong with the power board or control board. If you are not electronically trained person, I would suggest you bring it to a technician. Otherwise, you may simply make it worse

Yes. Standard Cassette will do. There are plenty of new sealed cassettes on EBay. Easy to buy.
your English is good
What is the chanel "CUE"?
Cue is a visual signal used by professionals for timing. For example, when to start, when to stop etc.
Can you record audio on to CUE channel? So it's a 3 channel cassette player ??
No. You cannot record audio on the cue channel. Cue channel is, as the names says, for cue only.
@rcary Your best bet would be Tascam 134 or 234.
