2017 FLL HydroDynamics (Almost) 265 Points by the Twilite Dragons

  • This is a first-year FLL team's robot. They built it from the EV3 kit building instructions...just added bracing for stability and two simple attachments. Missed the Pump Addition (20 points) by a hair in this run, but it usually works. The wheelie at the end was an unexpected bonus. :)

    I love the mobility of your attachments! Our attachments stick out everywhere and we have to be really precise in our program because of it. Great run!!!

    Impressed by how many missions you accomplished with the same part. Good job guys! One thing i will mention is to be careful driving along the wall and be ready to make changes in the program at competition. Typically the boards at competition vary as far as gaps from the mat to the wall. I would highly recommend testing this on a practice board before your match begins.

      Thank you! The reminder about the gaps between the wall and the mat is very important. We will check to see how the program works with slightly different set ups.

      Thanks! We have learned so much from watching FLL videos on TH-cam. Our advice to other beginning teams is to start simple and just keep adding and improving all you can.

      Thank you! The team quickly realized that switching attachments can use up too much of your 2:30. They also tried to keep the set up and alignment for the start of the runs simple and consistent.

      Thanks! We tried to find ways to reuse attachments in multiple missions rather than building something new each time. We were surprised how much we could do.

    Is your attachment motor a medium motor or a large motor? Did you use gears to operate the attachment?

    • @carawegrzyn5197
      @carawegrzyn5197  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ramp attachment used a medium motor. We followed the instructions from the Lego Education EV3 kit to build the base of our robot: education.lego.com/en-us/support/mindstorms-ev3/building-instructions

    Why are you using an nxt motor on an ev3?

    • @carawegrzyn5197
      @carawegrzyn5197  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a last-minute addition when the team realized they had about 10 extra seconds of time. All of the EV3 motors were already being used on this or other projects, so luckily they had the NXT motor to make that work.
