When I was 19 I had a friend who had a bout of kidney stones. I was visiting him at his rural home when he started having major pains. He asked me to take him to the local hospital. I have never felt so freaked out by a human screaming and crying than I was on that nightmare trip to the hospital. He was in agony and let me know it. I had my first kidney stone when I was 14 years old, When I was in 8th grade in Junior High. If I recall correctly, this was in the year 2005. I remember waking up at 4:35am, 2 hours before I usually wake up for school and I told mom I was in the worst pain I've ever been in. She was puzzled, but when I described my pain as starting in the lower abdomin with it radiating to my lower back area next to my kidneys, she said I probably have kidney stones, which makes sense, since my dad has a long history of getting them. Surprisingly, the pain went away after 2 hours, so I was able to go to school that day. However, a couple days later, I woke up around 5am and it happened again. Only this time, the pain wouldn't go away. Mom took me to the emergency room and they gave me strong IV drugs that pretty much took the pain away. I stayed at the hospital for an hour or two before they discharged me home with some Vicodin and pills that turned my pee an orange color, which was supposed to help flush out the kidneys. I am now 31 years old and thankfully I haven't had any big kidney stones since. As you said at the end of the video, the key is to drink as much water as you can to help keep the kidneys flushed out. i had 1 before and it hurt a lot. Thankfully it wasn't a very big one and passed naturally but still hurt coming out. I went the extra mile to put on gloves and touch it under a microscope. A way I can describe what it looks like is a normal rock you would find in the sand on a beach. After simple research I concluded that they either be smooth or jagged in texture. Truly scary if you ask me.
Story time. Basically from birth I’ve had a kink of sorts (think of it like a hose kink) in the tube of my kidney since birth. This causes my right kidney to never drain properly meaning that stones build up easy. I got my first diagnosed kidney stone in 2020 when I was 13 (4 mm stone) and one this year when I’m 15 (10 mm stone). Let me tell you, literally the worst experience of my life. I was in a ludicrous amount of pain at random points in time and even the strongest pain medication doesn’t help. I was nauseous all the time and it lasts for about 2 weeks at a time. I had to pass both of the stones without surgery. The worst part is, due to my young age and my developing body, doctors can’t do surgery on my to put a stint in my kidney to open up the tube. So fun
Never had kidney stones nor witnessed a family member or a friend having one, but glad I clicked on this video out of curiosity. This will really convince my sister to drink more water often, thanks for finally uploading a video like this.
I've had the misfortune of having a kidney stone once in my life. I was probably 8 years old and I had to go to the bathroom after watching a movie. Everything was going great that day, I had pizza for lunch, it was the weekends and I played plenty of videogames, and I just finished watching the Iron Man movie. I thought nothing at first since peeing is a mundane task, but as soon as I "released" I noticed something was wrong immediately. THANKFULLY it was a small kidney stone that could be passed naturally, but it was still painful enough that I had to lay down for the next few hours. The thumbnail described it perfectly, "it's like peeing glass." Even though this was more than a decade ago my body still remembers the pain and this video did a great job and reminding me about this repressed memory.
After peeing lots of blood and almost passing out I went to hospital. They said my kidney was full of stones and would die soon if they don't operate. I had a stent put in and sent home. After few weeks later I went back and had them blasted. Right after the operation I had a spasm. Let me tell you. I wish this pain on no man. It was 10 minutes of intense sweating and vomiting all while going in and out of conciousness from the pain. Then the surgeon came up and said unfortunately he couldn't get all the stones and I need to have another operation. They also got me to pull the 30cm stent out of my peepee. I just got an ultrasound few weeks ago and they said I have another one forming. Yay good times👍
@@toxicdino8676 I sure hope not. It looks like an over active parathyroid is causing hypercalcaemia. I will hopefully be put on the waiting list for surgery soon.
I knew a guy who had a kidney stone and also in the past had his front four teeth broken by a metal bat. He said he’d rather get his face knocked in every day than go through kidney stones ever again. Safe to say I drink water 10 times more than before.
my mom had kidney stones, she had to go the hospital to get them surgically removed. the hospital was not very good but thankfully it didn’t cost since we were living in germany. i heard her shouting in pain one time before the surgery when i was home with my sister, i didn’t know what to do so i just stayed in my room lmao
I like to think God one day was like “you know what if males could experience a pain as intense as childbirth but the joke is instead of passing a new person into the world you’re passing a tiny rock through a tube the width of a strand of hair.”
My dad told me this story of when he was 12, he started feeling really sick and stuff and when he was taken to the doctor he had symptoms of a kidney stones and had to pee it out.. Sucks that he was 12 and had to pass one that early in his life man-
I’m under 18 and i can’t tell if it was kidney stones or just a very bad pain but it feels like hell and sometimes it randomly comes out forcefully and instantly.
Like what the other guy said, see a doctor and don't wait until it gets worse. Even if it's not a kidney stone, pain like that should not be reoccuring. Don't let this scare you though, sometimes pain like that can also just be from cramping muscles, constipation, or premenstrual cramps (if you're female)
My uncle had kidney stones, he said that it was the first time in his life that he needed to take opioids for any pain, and he had multiple bone fractures throughout his life.
I just turned 23, and I’ve had 2 so far, one when I was twenty and one just a couple of months ago. Kidney problems run in my family, my grandfather having them and my mother having an issue with the tubes leading from her kidney to her bladder. My first stone was in my left and my second in my right.
I remember when my father had these horrifying pains of kidney stones, and was pretty scared myself, hoping that this would not spread to another family member including myself. I ESPECIALLY don't like the idea of surgery just for removing these awful #1 clogging stones!
I've had msk (sponge kidney) since I was born and I've passed over 30 stones throughout my life(18 years). I've passed out on pain before. Stones are no joke.
HOLY CRAP!!! My sister just seems like she is in minor pain when she has a kidney stone, and I didn’t think too much about it, but that sounds miserable
My first kidney stone flared up at the worst possible time. I was driving home from work when it hit me. I almost lost control of my vehicle, Thank god I was able to hold it together until I got home. I stumbled through the door shaking and beginning to loose consciousness. Sadly There was no one home and I ended up passing out on the kitchen flood and vomiting everything in my stomach up on the floor before fully blacking out. I laid there in pain for well over an hour before anyone returned home. I was in so much pain I was pretty much paralyzed in place. I had no knowledge of kidney stones at the time So i was dreading the thought of it being some sort of catastrophic kidney failure. I wish I could say the horror stopped there, But the ER they took me too was just the worst. I was in their waiting room for almost 6 hours that way before anyone bothered to do anything.
This was actually pretty interesting, I didn't know exactly what kidney stones were, but now I do! And I feel like the drink water part is directly pointed to me and my 4 ish years of being in waves of constant dehydration. It's really bad and while "just drinking water" is a pretty easy fix, it's hard to get back into the habit after only drinking about 500ml a day. Anyways, thanks for the video!
I drink basically pop and water but this made me realize I should prolly cut down on the pop and drink more water. Hope I never experience kidney stones in my lifetime.
I have chronic kidney stones. They are extremely annoying. I haven't been able to catch one (yet) but since some of my family members also have to deal with them, my doctor says that they are most likely the transparent, spiky type (she calls the "sea urchin")
I had kidney stones, worst pain I've ever felt, literally felt like a razor blade came out of my kidney and out my shmeat, and it wasn't fast, it took a few days for it to make it all the way out
Was the pain small first? or did it just start imidiatly in a unberable pain- it kinda stings when i finish peeing but not like a lot so that i have to scream. im scared that i might have kidneystones 💀
@@tulyyyuck4820 nah it hurt so bad it woke me up out of my sleep, and you wouldn't feel pain peeing first you'd feel pain in your kidney first unless it's super small
I was in 5th grade, it was late at night and I woke up to a piercing pain bellow my stomach. It got so bad that I woke up my grandparents and they had to take me to the hospital at 3am. When we showed up there, I told what's been happening and they said they would need a urine sample. For some reason I just couldn't do it, like something was blocking me from giving them the sample. It took a full minute of pain and crying but when it came out, it was looking like tea. They immediately knew something was wrong so they did an X-ray on my bladder and found 3 kidney stones. I'm 20 now and I only passed 1 out of the 3 since I was a child.
Most of the time I can't feel them. But when I do, they never let me forget that they are still there. Usually when that happens, I stop drinking anything that isn't water for about two weeks. Sometimes I'll drink lemonade with out the sugar to flush everything out and hope it'll break down the stones a little bit. But so far nothing.
I appreciate this video showing what the kidney stones look like up close. I had a 6mm one back in March and got a close look. Lots of little spikes. One thing you may have forgotten to mention is that a biggg factor of calcium kidney stones is an EXCESS of certain types of calcium and calcium supplements are a big no-no. Also you need to be careful about almonds and spinach. The biggest one for a lot of people (if you don't count not drinking enough water and having too much salty food), is black teas and dark colas like Coke, Pepsi, and even root beer. I've unfortunately had to swap my morning tea with coffee. Also, if you're careful with not getting too much on your teeth, citrus is a great way to help with prevention or even just breaking down the kidney stones. This is all advice from my urologist and the side of my family very prone to kidney stones. Water is definitely the key, though. It's why my mom probably evaded one for as long as she did and why I didn't get one until I lost my job and am bad about drinking water when I'm sitting and working alone on my computer all day. I wasn't hydrating as well.
I was born with one of my kidneys being really big, and one being really small. The small kidney ended up shriveling up and dying, and I had to take medicine to make the bigger one go down to a regular size. I only have one kidney now, I don't know if that increases your odds of getting kidney stones, but I really hope I never have to go through that kind of thing.
Some people compare the pain to child birth. I’m male and born cesarean; I have no idea what child birth feels like, but I do know kidney stones don’t tickle.
I haven't had Kidney stones, but I have had salivary gland stones. I had them for so long without realizing it, but when that little pin-head sized rock reached the final stretch it hurt to eat for a month. I would not wish kidney stones on even my worst enemy, I can only imagine how much more those would hurt.

A way I can describe what it looks like is a normal rock you would find in the sand on a beach. After simple research I concluded that they either be smooth or jagged in texture. Truly scary if you ask me.
@@hoods-music oww that sounds horrible! D: i hope that won’t happen again!
100% kidney stones for sure
Knew it
this is not cringe! this is a nightmare!!!!
oh man i've found this channel again, im so ready to binge this for hours
So fun
I hope your situation improves❤️
A kink? What
@@L1239-z8l not kink as in kinky. Basically a knot
Can they not remove the kidney?
Never had kidney stones nor witnessed a family member or a friend having one, but glad I clicked on this video out of curiosity. This will really convince my sister to drink more water often, thanks for finally uploading a video like this.
Suddenly I have a urge to go drink water.
Do you think you’re going to be in pure agony from now on?
@@toxicdino8676 I sure hope not. It looks like an over active parathyroid is causing hypercalcaemia. I will hopefully be put on the waiting list for surgery soon.
Thank you for making this video! It helped me a lot in getting over my fear of kidney stones
There’s a history of this in my family. Several of my Grandma’s sisters (from my mom’s side) had several and trust me it’s worrisome
Just be healthy
@@sniperfield3995 ??
if you didn't have any reason to drink water before, NOW YOU DO
I feel so sorry for Blocko trying to struggle as hard as possible to upload the video...
Honestly from the way he says this stuff it makes me think he went through kidney stones as well.
I've had a total of 4 kidney stones and 2 were this year. I can honestly say I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
WTF...4 stones??!?!??!??!
4 stones? that sounds horrible
YIKES
drink more milk and water and eat a balanced diet. usually people aren't eating as much and that is what causes it. so can dehydration.
I knew a guy who had a kidney stone and also in the past had his front four teeth broken by a metal bat.
He said he’d rather get his face knocked in every day than go through kidney stones ever again.
Safe to say I drink water 10 times more than before.
Why do I get the feeling that this video was speaking from experience?
Literally passed my first stone last month 🙃
Nothing short of actual agony
my mom had kidney stones, she had to go the hospital to get them surgically removed. the hospital was not very good but thankfully it didn’t cost since we were living in germany.
i heard her shouting in pain one time before the surgery when i was home with my sister, i didn’t know what to do so i just stayed in my room lmao
I have feared these my entire life I really just don’t want to pee them out
*starts rapidly drinking water*
Man, it's been a while since I've seen this guy.
Different, but still fun!
I like to think God one day was like “you know what if males could experience a pain as intense as childbirth but the joke is instead of passing a new person into the world you’re passing a tiny rock through a tube the width of a strand of hair.”
Today's fact: Some cat breeds (called 'puppy cats') are bred specifically to exhibit dog-like behavior.
O.O
Him: Drink Water
People in the Bikini Bottom: Dude we literally breathe water, its no problem
My dad told me this story of when he was 12, he started feeling really sick and stuff and when he was taken to the doctor he had symptoms of a kidney stones and had to pee it out.. Sucks that he was 12 and had to pass one that early in his life man-
This video was the most painful thing I’ve seen this week. My pp hurts now.
This pain is like trying to pee while you’re dehydrated during full blown opiate withdrawal 😅
The way that Blocko says cringe got a good laugh out of me
I’m under 18 and i can’t tell if it was kidney stones or just a very bad pain but it feels like hell and sometimes it randomly comes out forcefully and instantly.
I think it is best to go see a doctor just to make sure
Like what the other guy said, see a doctor and don't wait until it gets worse. Even if it's not a kidney stone, pain like that should not be reoccuring. Don't let this scare you though, sometimes pain like that can also just be from cramping muscles, constipation, or premenstrual cramps (if you're female)
this is legitimately one of my worst fears
My uncle had kidney stones, he said that it was the first time in his life that he needed to take opioids for any pain, and he had multiple bone fractures throughout his life.
I just turned 23, and I’ve had 2 so far, one when I was twenty and one just a couple of months ago. Kidney problems run in my family, my grandfather having them and my mother having an issue with the tubes leading from her kidney to her bladder. My first stone was in my left and my second in my right.
I had a coworker who had constant kidney stones. I had to drive him to the hospital around the end of my shift because it got so bad at one point.
Thank you for caring about us blocko! Much appreciated.
I’ve never had a kidney stone, but Blocko is acting like he has had one.
I really do feel like his animator had one, with how he's talking about it
i think Blocko needs a break from life noggin, my guy ligit having a mental breakdown
"Please. Just Drink water. you _dehydrated_ ray of sunshine."
now *that* is some real comedy right there.
I remember when my father had these horrifying pains of kidney stones, and was pretty scared myself, hoping that this would not spread to another family member including myself. I ESPECIALLY don't like the idea of surgery just for removing these awful #1 clogging stones!
"You dehydrated ray of sunshine!" lol
blocko: DRINK WATER
me who drank just one glass of water all day and it is now almost 9PM: 😎
I’m getting myself some water
I've had msk (sponge kidney) since I was born and I've passed over 30 stones throughout my life(18 years). I've passed out on pain before. Stones are no joke.
me: i thought you were dead
Life Noggin: I always come back
I feel like blocko had definetily felt a kidney stone and was so traumatised by it that he made a video about it
HOLY CRAP!!!
Anyways, thanks for the video!
im the opposite i drink like 3 to 4.5 liters of water everyday
I drink basically pop and water but this made me realize I should prolly cut down on the pop and drink more water. Hope I never experience kidney stones in my lifetime.
I can’t be the only one that got a weird feeling in their kidneys after this
I have chronic kidney stones. They are extremely annoying. I haven't been able to catch one (yet) but since some of my family members also have to deal with them, my doctor says that they are most likely the transparent, spiky type (she calls the "sea urchin")
*Triangle bob in immense pain*
Blocko: Que the intro!
@@Reddeadredemption3 thanks that kinda gave me a relief
My friend had kidney stones, couldn't imagine how he felt...
Oh my goodness
Apple cider vinegar
Lemon
Ginger
I've never had a stone although my mother had them. This is what she says works.
@@WebSlinger62 I really hope you eventually get them out 🙏
Oh man hopefully you dont feel that pain ever again.
I can feel the pain through the video. I feel like I'm going to pass out
I'm sure peeing glass is so much worse...
Peeing glass?! What the hell is this stuff?!?!
Edit:- I know it's super early for an edit but I think it's the pencil sea urchin.
What... isn't it kidney stones?
I was born with one of my kidneys being really big, and one being really small. The small kidney ended up shriveling up and dying, and I had to take medicine to make the bigger one go down to a regular size.
I only have one kidney now, I don't know if that increases your odds of getting kidney stones, but I really hope I never have to go through that kind of thing.
Yo Noggin my pee is white and sticky. Is it glass?? Im scared
It’s not glass

Some people compare the pain to child birth. I’m male and born cesarean; I have no idea what child birth feels like, but I do know kidney stones don’t tickle.

Thanks about the water reminder. I have COVID 19.
Passing a kidney stone it's like passing a sharp glassy boulder through a McDonald's coffee straw and it hits every nerve on the way out
