I have seen people dancing to the song and others swaying to the beat while smiling and laughing and being oblivious to its meaning. It's impossible for me to count how many music videos I've seen, but it's a lot. This is now my all time favorite. It is Pure Perfection in every category: Setting, Design, Production, Direction. Sound, Visual, Arrangement, Piano accompanyment; and of course Vocal. In keeping with her jazz style, she gives a lot of negative space in this performance, which allows us time to digest the meaning of the lyrics. From the first note, Absoultely AMAZING!!! I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. A few details you may have noticed here, Angelina is wearing the black leather jump suit as Elvis did in his 68 Comeback tour, she is also playing the Red guitar Elvis had in that same Comeback tour and the hair do is that of Pricilla Presley had back then as well. The gentleman on piano is Rob Christie, Director of Republic Records and multi Grammy winning musician and is wearing the same Red jump suit as Elvis's band members from 68 Comeback tour. I'm 58 and have like many different genre of music all my life..But my true love an preference has always been the ' oldies '.. Elvis and The Beatles are my truest love and I'm their BIGGEST of fan since I was a teen..With that being said, I haven't listen to much of any music the past decades, due to life's situations and such..I've kind of stop following music in general since the early 90's..And when I do listen to music, it would be the 'oldies'...But I would never have thought in all my wildest dreams that an 8 year old ( who is now a beautiful 16 year old teen ) would bring me back to the ' musical life ' again...No modern day artist in the past 30 years was able to do that, except the greatness of Angelina Jordan...Bless her soul....Great reaction my friends. My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
Interesting perspective, my take is somewhat different. I see AJ dealing with a theme that showed up in "Easy on Me". Adele spoke to her not having enough worldly experiences to make her decision to marry, and AJ confronting the choice to follow her musical calling. Elvis interpreted the lyrics (the song was written more than a decade before he released his hit) from a perspective of his music and movie lifestyle, and we see younger stages of AJ as she is "caught in a trap" of her musical calling, not being able to "walk out", accepting her gift and the current AJ contemplating her future. I see Mery's perspective artistic and emotional fingerprints in the video.
O.K., I'll offer a third perspective. I believe Mary Zamani message isn't about the song but rather Angelina and her journey. We see Angelina strolling through the antique store uncovering great treasures from the past; a chair or rather a throne fit for a king, a mirror for refections of yesteryear, and an old piano that suddenly starts playing a ghostly version of a classic Elvis hit. Then we see Angelina enter the scene clad in Elvis leather with his iconic red hollow body electric guitar and sporting Priscilla's beehive hairdo which shows that she totally embodies the music while honouring the artist. The scene with the girls dressed in the signature white dress of Angelina's youth wondering through the store and marvelling at the beautiful antiques is analogous to the stages of Angelina's journey in her discovery of the great classics as she has grown to the artist she is today.
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. 🙂

Her voice here reflected the emotions one would feel if their relationship was threatened by jealousy, what else would cause being "suspicious"? The results are almost palpable, she sings as if it's almost a plea... I think it was genius to whisper the words as speaking "I'd never lie to you" and not sing them at the end... Great to see you back with more Angelina reactions. It IS amazing what she is capable of, and this one is just one more example of how she always puts the song itself in the focus for her listeners. The song and the story it is telling, is the main thing to Angelina. And as I see it, she always gives what the song craves. The big show is kind of secondary in her performances. I, for one, simply loves that. Then, in her reasent consert in Norway, she sure showes that having fun and a great time is important to her as well. The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. I'm 58 and have like many different genre of music all my life..But my true love an preference has always been the ' oldies '.. Elvis and The Beatles are my truest love and I'm their BIGGEST of fan since I was a teen..With that being said, I haven't listen to much of any music the past decades, due to life's situations and such..I've kind of stop following music in general since the early 90's..And when I do listen to music, it would be the 'oldies'...But I would never have thought in all my wildest dreams that an 8 year old ( who is now a beautiful 16 year old teen ) would bring me back to the ' musical life ' again...No modern day artist in the past 30 years was able to do that, except the greatness of Angelina Jordan...Bless her soul....Great reaction my friends. My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video:
First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
Interesting perspective, my take is somewhat different. I see AJ dealing with a theme that showed up in "Easy on Me". Adele spoke to her not having enough
worldly experiences to make her decision to marry, and AJ confronting the choice to follow her musical calling. Elvis interpreted the lyrics (the song was
written more than a decade before he released his hit) from a perspective of his music and movie lifestyle, and we see younger stages of AJ as she is
"caught in a trap" of her musical calling, not being able to "walk out", accepting her gift and the current AJ contemplating her future. I see Mery's perspective
artistic and emotional fingerprints in the video.
O.K., I'll offer a third perspective. I believe Mary Zamani message isn't about the song but rather Angelina and her journey. We see Angelina strolling through the antique store uncovering great treasures from the past; a chair or rather a throne fit for a king, a mirror for refections of yesteryear, and an old piano that suddenly starts playing a ghostly version of a classic Elvis hit. Then we see Angelina enter the scene clad in Elvis leather with his iconic red hollow body electric guitar and sporting Priscilla's beehive hairdo which shows that she totally embodies the music while honouring the artist. The scene with the girls dressed in the signature white dress of Angelina's youth wondering through the store and marvelling at the beautiful antiques is analogous to the stages of Angelina's journey in her discovery of the great classics as she has grown to the artist she is today.
Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great and it always was, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammes), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

Her voice here reflected the emotions one would feel if their relationship was threatened by jealousy, what else would cause being "suspicious"? The results are almost palpable, she sings as if it's almost a plea... I think it was genius to whisper the words as speaking "I'd never lie to you" and not sing them at the end... The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set."

The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000.

The ‘68 Comeback Special marked Elvis' return to live performance after seven years spent focused on acting in Hollywood films. The televised concert, which launched Presley's return to live touring, featured him playing the Hagstrom for the opening segment as well as during one of the live "stand-up" segments.

I have absolutely no idea just HOW many times I have heard this song performed by Elvis and Fine Young Cannibals, but it took the 8th wonder of the world, the force of nature that is Angelina Jordan to make me listen to and connect to the lyrics for the first time. She was dressed in black leather and played the red guitar both which were in Elvis' 1968 Comeback concert. Also, the beehive hairstyle is what Elvis' wife Priscilla wore.
