Are you sure you didn't learn a thing? What about not harmonizing in unison while belting or riffing to avoid overwhelming the listener? What about not crowding the lead vocals with the backing vocals? Whether you agree or not, these are valid, relevant, and constructive points to consider in the process of recording music.

agree! to be completely honest, i didn't like some parts of this arrangement, too especially Jessica's parts. they were kinda all over the place, and like what she said, too many vocals, too much happening. sometimes less is more. nevertheless, a powerful performance by both of them.
i actually prefer Katrina's collab with guys because you'll know their voices will be complementing each other, unlike with female singers, they tend to make their parts sort of "compete" at times especially in belting patts.
Jessica Villarubin is another powerhouse singer. She won one of the most difficult singing competitions in the Philippines a few years ago.
You can just react to Katrina’s live performances like what you’ve been doing to Gigi. Try her Whitney Houston medley, Beyoncé medley. Those are like the best version in PH for sure. Great to see you doing more of Katrina’s.

was about to get so excited for this, but then i saw the comments about still expressing doubt about katrina's vocal abilities in a live setting & i'm immediately turned off. it'll be hard, but i'll likely skip this one...i know you can only research so much about each artist, but seriously, all it takes is ten seconds of hearing katrina sing live (even from someone's yucky quality cell phone footage!) to know that katrina can very much perform to the same caliber as she sounds pre-recorded...she honestly sounds better live most of the time, tbh.

Her negativity is probably what prevents any of us from knowing who she is. That kind of thing comes across in a singer's voice and it's the kind of thing that takes a technically wonderful singer like this lady and prevents them from reaching an audience in a way that makes us want to connect with them and isnt off putting. The Make up, the hair, the harshness. It all kind of adds up to something that is screaming "stay away from me". She's probably afraid of connectinng to other people which is why the emphasis is on negativity. It must be a very difficult mindset to live with we should all pray for her
They actually sang this song live in a stage again and Katrina sounded exactly the same as she was in the studio version.

There are many vocal coaches /reactors do really have the authority to evaluate especially on the technical aspect of singing. And when they sing, they are technically on point, but something is usually lacking, like the soul/the heart of the song
But what sets many Filipino singers apart, or even above, is their heart/soul into the song, thatis why when they sing, it is often captivating, gives goosebumps and the highs hard to find in other singers. Imho
Filipinos in general love BELTING so much.this is just a sample of that.from a very young age, they are taught to BELT first to be considered a great singer.that's why it's easy for our singers to sing and learn other genre when they grow up.

Unfortunately these people have set the bars as high as it could get that you'll start to wonder if it's a really good high or not. Just so you know... and the thing is, in the Ph, there is no really "more on one side of influences" when it comes to singing. Every day and everywhere there is music and everyone is singing in a different era or genra. Even on Radio, it's Halo2x or mixed. The first song is ballad, the next song jazz, then Christmas song. Lol! It's a cultural thing. Filipinos have ears if u know what I mean. They will try everything on the menu. That is why most of the singers you hear know how to mimic other sounds, enunciation, mannerisms and so... everyone is some sort of vocal coach. lol! Critic to the highest exosphere...hahaha!!! When you see a singer sing in a certain way, most of the time, that means she/he sings what is needed to be served. That is a must when you are a singer. The competition is so high. You must spit fire or be swallowed by a mere karaoke singer or street food vendor singing "Äll By Myself".

If for you that's disadvantageous, well for many it makes them idolize Jessica more as she's always showing her best every time she performs. She never said that the performance was bad, just that there were some melodic decisions within the vocal arrangement that could be improved upon with regards to the emotive impact of certain parts of the song.

For me your reaction videos to Filipino singers are the most interesting because Rozette herself is a remarkable technical singer and has the expertise to critique voices. In regard to influences or inspiration, I believe both Katrina and Jessica, and generally all Filipina singers likely have the same singers that impact their style and sound especially what's called in western pop the vocal trinity Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, and their Filipino counterparts and contemporaries Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha and Jaya.
