I decided to put them all together into one video but Instead of using footage I already had and used, I went back and re-recorded everything so its more like the Previous Map Changes video.

That could tie into how you were supposed to be able to explore new Austin as aurthur in 1899. That explains why the cholera and abandonment of tumbleweed happened in such short time- it wasn't supposed to.

Agreed. I think some aspects of the character’s facial expressions are also done slightly better as well. I love John’s pissed off expressions and how you can see him grind his own teeth while threatening someone. It’s the little things that truly make me appreciate a game.
Because RDR1 is an older game and the graphics are less realistic and less historically accurate. RDR2 doesn't have the same New Austin atmosphere but it is more historically accurate.
Trey Brown Tumbleweed was already in the shit due to the railroads not passing them, instead going straight to Armadillo. That along with strong presence of Del Lobo gang members and Sheriff Gray ruling the town with an iron fist was probably more than enough to drive everyone away from tumbleweed. I assume that Gray followed suit and left too.

RDR1 still looks great considering its age and hardware. RDR2 has a warmer color pallet than RDR1. I kind of prefer the cooler tone and more lived in feel of the later time period in RDR1. Sure would love to see a remade version of RDR1 for the current gen systems.

Way too many buildings are run down in the original only to be less than a decade old. I wish they would have kept most of them in. Especially the barn in MacFarlane's Ranch. I mean Bonnie herself said her dad built it when she was just little.

The nostalgia hits so hard growing up playing this I think it makes these places feel like a second home and to see them age and disappear even in a video game makes you long for something
As John, you can meet Rains Fall at the Annesburg Station. When he gets on the train, you can jump on quickly, and for some strange reason the train travels at double speed around the map.
This is why rockstar is the best at open world games. They make the world feel loved in and as if it can go on even without the player in it. It’s like to me it’s crazy how life goes on normally after the death of Arthur. Like he doesn’t get to see what becomes of the future and how the world evolves. Just a crazy thought.

IMO (just for information, I am European) Big Valley, Heartlands and New Austin are the most western(ish) regions. I just feel like a real gunslinger in those parts.
@@quuaaarrrk8056 I think RDR 1 was supposed to based off of the spaghetti Westerns, the Sergio Leone movies which were mainly filmed in Spain and Italy. So the landscape represents that. Whereas RDR2 is more focused on being a realistic depiction of our Westerns states.

I miss red dead 2, you maybe saying that you can always go back to it, but you really can’t go back to the good old days, a few months ago I had a huge posse, about 14 members, we would have it split up into 2 7 man posses. We would have each other parleyed so we wouldn’t kill each other, it all ended in April 2020 when have of the crew betrayed and caused a lot of people to fight. After awhile we all quit and I haven’t talked to half of my old posse since like may. That is my story about this game
Hello all this is an update, i haven’t played red dead in over 5 months, that last comment was made around the time I quit, I’ve because friends with some of the old people that I used to play with, it’s sad about what happened back in the day, I still remember it, yea it’s just a game but I also lost friends due to everyone wanting power over each other, some of the people I still hate today, and the others I’ve became good friends with.
I find it kind of funny how the people of Tumbleweed tend to mock the people of Armadillo and poke fun out of how they should just be put out of their misery in RDR2 but in RDR Armadillo is prosperous and Tumbleweed is completely abandoned.
I'm actually disappointed by the things that were absent in 1907. Thieves landing should've retained more buildings from the first one and the McFarland barn should've been there, especially since Bonnie said it was built by then.. Making Armadillo a plague town was such a troll move, too. Feels like the devs just started deleting shit after a five minute slideshow tutorial and a pizza party.
New Austin wasn't planned to be on RDR2 at all, it was a very late addition and it really shows. It's just a barren wasteland like everything north of Los Santos in GTA V. Rockstar should focus on smaller maps. The difference between the new RDR 2 areas and New Austin is night and day. They should've at least left Mexico available to explore, even if John Marston claimed to have never visited it by 1911, or finish Guarma and let us be able to travel there whenever we wanted.
The background song made me cry when I first played the mission where Arthur goes on his last ride. knowing what was coming it’s amazing how rdr2 tugs at your heart strings
As someone who's favorite game is RDR1 this video is beautiful, it shows us how much of a leap this generation was, not only that but it also shows us that R* are always ahead of time!... Except when they keep releasing the game game 3 times for 3 generations
This song is positively haunting. I love how no matter what your style is, Arthur's hat gets shot off in the chase from Van Horn and he puts on HIS hat for that ride back to camp.
One thing I wish they should've done in the epilogue was add in weapons that came out during 1900 -1907. Like the Winchester 305 Springfield 1903 Colt Mexican pistol And other weapons that came out during that time.

RDR's art direction is so great that even with all the graphical improvements between the two games, RDR 1 is still beautiful. You can't say that for most games this old.
I love how RDR1 looks more like a Spaghetti Western than RDR2. Maybe less accurate considering the fact that those movies were filmed in Europe -Italy and Spain mostly- but you cant deny the aesthetic is just amazing.

Well, I mean, they modeled a low poly, largely culled-out model of El Presidio, but in the PS4 1.00 release all of the models for Nuevo Paraíso towns existed - and you can hear a dog barking in two different locations.
Yeah they completely ported over the red dead 1 map and just remodelled it for new graphics, it’s why some textures at armadillo and tumble weed have some older looking textures, they probably just wanted to meet the deadline and Mexico wouldnt have been finished so they just started cutting it down (for performance aswell) It makes sense with the Mexico music that plays when you glitch over and the other towns and npcs and dialogues relating to Mexico in the files
From the videos I've seen looking at the development of the map the entirety of New Austin was added very late in development and the entire northern area of the map was shuffled multiple times late in development. Mexico was likely just modeled for looks and was never intended to be a playable area.
My guess is the railroad went through Armadillo, connecting the town to civilization, and Tumbleweed was abandoned due to the lack of connection to civilization. That and the danger of a large gang taking over Tumbleweed.
Sammexp you have to play the first game to know what happened to tumbleweed. The railway was built to armadillo which then had better law enforcement. And people moved from tumbleweed which is in a canyon so it could easily be raided by bandits. Which is what happened. Bandits killed the remaining people and it is run down in rdr1 1911 and rdr2 1907 because they only made one version of the map 1899 since you were originally gonna be able to go there as Arthur. It’s not lore-fuckup. It’s just rockstar being lazy and or forgetful.

It's explained in the story in a few different areas that the railroad to Armadillo is what eventually turned the latter into a boom town while Tumbleweed went belly up. The same thing has happened in a lot of US towns throughout history as well.

What's weird is that there is an info card at Pacific railroad camp in rdr2. I think it was cut because of a lack of time or because were stuck in 1899 version.
Honestly the buildings in Blackwater look so much nicer in rdr2. If there is a rdr1 remake, they should keep the new buildings from rdr2. As much as I liked rdr1, Blackwater looks a little off. Rdr2 fixed that.

RDR1 ended in 1914. The same year WW1 started in Europe. Those were quite literally the last days of the West. Also Jack was at just the right age to be drafted into WW1 when the US intervened in 1917. If there is an RDR3 it will most likely be set before the events of RDR2.

I love both games. But I have to hand it to rdr2, the desert feels and looks like a real desert. In rdr1 it feels and looks like an extension to Great Plains. But I do love rdr1

The creation of empires, the endings of ideologies, the ending of the wild west and for all the people Arthur and john saved they couldn't save themselves. Cut content seemed to point to how new Austin was supposed to be explored. Remember how the dinosaur bone quest had Arthur in it? That's proof enough for cutting Mexico out.
I absolutely friggin LOVE the attention to detail, for example one of the buildings in armadillo was all broken down and stuff in the first red dead but in red dead 2 they made it so it wasn’t all broken down because the ending of the game takes place 4 years before rdr1 so it is going to be not broken and shows how just a few years can change things in a huge way. That’s why I love the attention to detail
Rio bravo doesn't feel the same in RDR2. I barely ever went to Rio Bravo in RDR1, less I was passing into mexico due to the lack of things to do and the difficult terrain. In RDR2 and RDO, I spend a whole lot of time there. Strangely there's even less content in RDR2 there compared to 1, but something about the red rock and green trees just gets me passing through there instead of cholla springs on my way to tumbleweed.
New Austin has no benefit in the story of the second game , nor have the developers focused on building a new, map and more states, and they have done an amazing job, so I do not understand why you are so attached to New Austin, as if the lack of focus on it is one of the defects of the second game , and this is truly foolish and unfair to the game. Just enjoy. In the rest of the map, it is very simple. There is no benefit from New Austin in the story of the game, and the first game focused on it, and the events took place there, so there is no need to focus on it again, and they decided to develop a new and diverse world., it is a new game, not a remastered of the first game , and if you are so attached to the state, just go and play the first game . The story takes place there

A lil lore break I’ve known about for years but haven’t seen many people talk about is how in rdr 1, Bonnie has line when showing John around the ranch saying how her father built the barn when she was just a little girl but in both red dead online and epilogue there’s no barn and it’s only 4-12 years before rdr 1…so where’s the barn then. always annoyed me a bit
RDR2 has a lot of Retcon with RDR1, not only in details like the one you mention, but also in the attitude of the characters and some events in the history of both games.
I think it’s kinda cool that some of the less significant areas and buildings have a different design and artistic interpretation, but the more iconic locations like the buildings in armadillo are extremely accurate
I know! What blew my mind was that they went to the trouble of recreating many of the signs even down to the same fonts and designs for the most part. They didn't have to do that but it's awesome they pay attention to those details.

Rockstar should focus on smaller maps. The difference between the new RDR 2 areas and New Austin is night and day. They should've at least left Mexico available to explore, even if John Marston claimed to have never visited it by 1911, or finish Guarma and let us be able to travel there whenever we wanted.

This song is positively haunting. I love how no matter what your style is, Arthur's hat gets shot off in the chase from Van Horn and he puts on HIS hat for that ride back to camp.
One thing I wish they should've done in the epilogue was add in weapons that came out during 1900 -1907.

RDR's art direction is so great that even with all the graphical improvements between the two games, RDR 1 is still beautiful. You can't say that for most games this old.

Well, I mean, they modeled a low poly, largely culled-out model of El Presidio, but in the PS4 1.00 release all of the models for Nuevo Paraíso towns existed - and you can hear a dog barking in two different locations.
Yeah they completely ported over the red dead 1 map and just remodelled it for new graphics, it’s why some textures at armadillo and tumble weed have some older looking textures, they probably just wanted to meet the deadline and Mexico wouldnt have been finished so they just started cutting it down (for performance aswell)
It makes sense with the Mexico music that plays when you glitch over and the other towns and npcs and dialogues relating to Mexico in the files
From the videos I've seen looking at the development of the map the entirety of New Austin was added very late in development and the entire northern area of the map was shuffled multiple times late in development. Mexico was likely just modeled for looks and was never intended to be a playable area.

My guess is the railroad went through Armadillo, connecting the town to civilization, and Tumbleweed was abandoned due to the lack of connection to civilization. That and the danger of a large gang taking over Tumbleweed.

Sammexp you have to play the first game to know what happened to tumbleweed. The railway was built to armadillo which then had better law enforcement. And people moved from tumbleweed which is in a canyon so it could easily be raided by bandits. Which is what happened. Bandits killed the remaining people and it is run down in rdr1 1911 and rdr2 1907 because they only made one version of the map 1899 since you were originally gonna be able to go there as Arthur. It’s not lore-fuckup. It’s just rockstar being lazy and or forgetful.

It's explained in the story in a few different areas that the railroad to Armadillo is what eventually turned the latter into a boom town while Tumbleweed went belly up. The same thing has happened in a lot of US towns throughout history as well.

Honestly the buildings in Blackwater look so much nicer in rdr2. If there is a rdr1 remake, they should keep the new buildings from rdr2. As much as I liked rdr1, Blackwater looks a little off. Rdr2 fixed that.

RDR1 ended in 1914. The same year WW1 started in Europe. Those were quite literally the last days of the West. Also Jack was at just the right age to be drafted into WW1 when the US intervened in 1917.
If there is an RDR3 it will most likely be set before the events of RDR2.

I absolutely friggin LOVE the attention to detail, for example one of the buildings in armadillo was all broken down and stuff in the first red dead but in red dead 2 they made it so it wasn’t all broken down because the ending of the game takes place 4 years before rdr1 so it is going to be not broken and shows how just a few years can change things in a huge way. That’s why I love the attention to detail

Rio bravo doesn't feel the same in RDR2. I barely ever went to Rio Bravo in RDR1, less I was passing into mexico due to the lack of things to do and the difficult terrain. In RDR2 and RDO, I spend a whole lot of time there. Strangely there's even less content in RDR2 there compared to 1, but something about the red rock and green trees just gets me passing through there instead of cholla springs on my way to tumbleweed.
New Austin has no benefit in the story of the second game , nor have the developers focused on building a new, map and more states, and they have done an amazing job, so I do not understand why you are so attached to New Austin, as if the lack of focus on it is one of the defects of the second game , and this is truly foolish and unfair to the game. Just enjoy. In the rest of the map, it is very simple. There is no benefit from New Austin in the story of the game, and the first game focused on it, and the events took place there, so there is no need to focus on it again, and they decided to develop a new and diverse world., it is a new game, not a remastered of the first game , and if you are so attached to the state, just go and play the first game . The story takes place there

A lil lore break I’ve known about for years but haven’t seen many people talk about is how in rdr 1, Bonnie has line when showing John around the ranch saying how her father built the barn when she was just a little girl but in both red dead online and epilogue there’s no barn and it’s only 4-12 years before rdr 1…so where’s the barn then. always annoyed me a bit

RDR2 has a lot of Retcon with RDR1, not only in details like the one you mention, but also in the attitude of the characters and some events in the history of both games.
I think it’s kinda cool that some of the less significant areas and buildings have a different design and artistic interpretation, but the more iconic locations like the buildings in armadillo are extremely accurate
I know! What blew my mind was that they went to the trouble of recreating many of the signs even down to the same fonts and designs for the most part. They didn't have to do that but it's awesome they pay attention to those details.
