40 years have passed but even now watching the episodes makes you understand that the Magnum Pi series is immortal
Just found this Channel a few days ago, these clips of Classic Magnum are great
This show was before my time, watching in syndication as a kid. Now with a myriad of channels and online shows, including the remake series, this is still the easy go-to for me.
I used to enjoy seeing the old movie stars guest appear on the original Magnum. He had some very famous ones from way back like on this episode, the old man was Lew Ayres. Frank Sinatra and others.

Gretchen Corbett (I think!?) also guested on an episode of the 1983-1984 (4th) season.
Tom Seleck was a big fan and was very gratefull to James Garner for giving him a role as Lance White on The Rockford Files. (Roger Mosely also appeared on the Rockford Files as Electric Larry.)

The original show was SO MUCH BETTER by FAR111 :) the reboot is a joke LOL!! I'm sure Tom Selleck is glad he has no part of it. :)
The plots and character development in the OG Magnum PI episodes were so well done. ANd a lot of it were "firsts" in TV dramas....So sad we can't get programming of this quality anymore...the clostestest are Dick Wolf productions and the odd Bellasario Production shows....forget who produces BLue Bloods....Dick Wolf?
In the reboot of Magnum PI they forgot about "the lads" LOL!1 They also forgot about maintaining Robin's Nest. We never even see Robin's Nest. Just the inside of Magnum's "gest house" which is HUGE....
...and what is with all the Jason Bourne fight choreography in the reboot. :) I think the current Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Juliette Higgins are kind of petite...yet htey go through bad guys without gasing out or getting a scratch...heh...never workout or train....out of the blue they are in "fightig shape' and they get their hands on firearms, auto weapons...etc. Don't hink Hawaii is a "gun friendly state"...
I tend to think of the current (NBC; formerly CBS) as similar to Moonlighting.
original one also featured more sports playing, ie tennis, basketball, volleyball, football throwing,etc. Good influence on kids to ne active.. New show doesnt really do that.

It was...last time I saw it, in a state of disrepair. I believe it's been torn down. A lot can happen in 40+ years!
