I Think about DakhaBraka and Dakh Daughters every day. Both International treasures. With my goverment just as complicit in these horrible times I can only offer platitudes that do nothing. I believe the Dakh theater collectives produce an energy that is a world positive and while perhaps not magic in itself if their is one world language that has the power to break through centuries of hate, since of pride, disrepair, loss, love, duplicity and all feelings it is music. The worldly language pioneered by DakhaBrakha is novel and special may any magic, strength, wisdom and faith protect DakhBraka, their family, friends, neighbors both Ukrainian and the surrounding countries. A friend assumed it was unusual when Jack Bruce strummed his Bass at the Filmore in 1968. Nina strumming that chord sounds like she studied under John Lee Hooker..... Dakhabrakha tunes evolve over the years but the pure beauty of the sound comes through as they try different arrangements.... Lena's voice is beautiful as always..... They do seem to exceed expectations..... I bet they drive a sound man nuts......

He is showing Ukraine off to the world, their history, their culture, their culinary and now music of the ages. Or at least that what this sounds like to me. I think Victoria Nuland attracted a lot of attention to the area from people who were not aware. Those of us who followed the performances of this assembly of Musicians, were aware long ago. Their Music displays the effects of countless conflicts between Empires though quite a few centuries. I think Lena's eyes display quite a bit about the suffering that conflict has laid on the Women of the area.....
Don't repeat the moronic "Slava Ukraini" and "Glory to Ukraine!". Just enjoy the live music created by four outstanding performers. Which have nothing to do with the criminal Ukrainian government and their self-destructing statehood.

I saw them play in Massachusetts on May 4th. I wish that it was a seated venue. I could barely see Nina. 🤔
