You need to tighten up your drag some or play the fish more. When your reeling in line and hearing the drag with a spinning reel your twisting up your line.

These are stocked fish they were in the hatchery a week before, they'll all be caught after the first day or 2. This is the angling version of a canned hunt.

Gotta fish with what you have. If stocked trout is all that is avaliable then what else can someone do? You see all those fisherman shoulder to shoulder? No way that wild fish would support that kind of pressure. Imagine fishing for bass this way. The bass would be extinct in the lake in one week!

Some of those rainbows had some beautiful coloring. That's awesome you went and enjoyed some fishing. I don't know how much you trout fish, but people should really be more careful handling them if you plan to release it. They most likely will die after pulling them along the ground, grabbing them with dry hands , and dropping them. Might as well keep it and eat it.
Stuck in college rn, love trout but man do I hate when a park stocks them right at the boat launch. The parks make up rules like this not for safety but for monetary reasons (to make the fishing suck so that you have to pay more often to catch the same amount). If you ever go back, bring a watercraft or some waders so they can’t get mad you with their logic.

May friend, you don’t filet a small trout. Cook it in a foil pouch, low and slow. Leave the head on. When it’s done, eat the cheeks, grab the head and all the bones come out. Nothing but tender moist meat. Don’t filet a small trout.

fishing for stocked trout -1, fishing for them shortly after stocking -1, fighting for a 5' wide fishing spot -1, keeping that many ~2yr old stocked trout -1, listening to the drag scream all day -1. I'm all about watching/sharing fishing videos but leave the stocked stuff for spawning and introducing kids to fishing
@@puntallstar3 Stocked trout are sterile and can't spawn and most die off by late spring due to high water temps. They are put and take fish.
@@PHUCKyoutube689 That might be the case for this specific lake as stocking reasons vary by body of water. Not all stocked fish are sterile. Many times (by me) fish are stocked to boost populations or feed other species. It's just my opinion but fishing for stocked fish is lame
@@puntallstar3 Yes but none of that applies to the specific situation. Those trout are genetically bred for anglers. Notice the lightning trout? This is southern california most fish were stocked at one time or another very few native species that you can catch on rod and reel around here. Some stocking programs are intended to replenish native species of as feed but not these trout. I agree this style combat fishing is lame and haven't partook in over 20 years but tgey stock trout up to and over ten pounds at times.

When I was a kid, you'd cut into a stocked trout, and it was just grey muck.. They've come a long way with how they feed them in the hatchery, they really are kind of tasty (if you like trout and salmon).. They are a lot different than they were 40 years ago. Also could be the state you are in, and how they treat their trout.. The grey muck when I was young 30-40 years ago was in New England.. But now as an adult (only by #) out west in Colorado/New Mexico, the stocked trout are nice and pink, firm, even after cooking, and they are pretty tasty.
I wouldn't do the shoulder to shoulder thing for trout either..

Ahhh finesse fishing in cold water. One of my favorite things to do. I usually would use a black worm on a Texas rig and just take my time and have fun and feel it. And you know it's cold. They're not as active so you guys sort of entice them. So like your style my friend

I was there too, and the lake said we could fish at that spot after 2 hours so we waited those 2 hours and then went to fish that spot then she arrived in her kayak and that’s when all started cuz ig she wanted the spot for herself or sum 🤷🏻♂️

Nice to hear you using barbless hooks but you shouldn't take them out of the water to unhook them. Trout are delicate fish and just taking them out of the water can kill them.

wow...soooo glad I don't live in California (for many reasons)...a traffic jam just to get into the lake, then a line of people every 10 feet along the bank...that SUCKS. I mean it is cool to catch a bunch of hatchery fish I suppose, but most of us go fishing to get away from hordes of people.

Got to keep them all, because once hooked and landed, they almost always die, then turn different colors. Fishing in the ghetto! It be ruff as shit ya'll!

the kayakers and boats are to be 100 feet offshore of the shore line, if there is a walking ramp for personal boats or pontoons the distance is 100 feet from the end of the walk way ramp of those personal boats! the rules are set for the protection for the shore fisherman and the boats and kayakers as well. also this bozo has his limit which is 5 per person/. I Use the same method to clean trout, but use an electric knife, same for crappie and walleye. Great day, making me want to stop being lazy and replace that water pump!

Here's a fishing for trout tip . Get some super dupers you will slay them .. Here in ohio I catch my limit in about ten casts we're only allowed 5 a day . Super dupers look like a bent piece of metal but killer lures for trout .

Watching everybody lined up along the lake, bed shoulder to shoulder reminds me of New Jersey opening day, which we’re about 10 days away from can’t wait…. My favorite set up is my 4 foot Fenwick my tiny real and that’s the name of it tiny and I use three different colors and two different weight sizes and they’re called phoebes…. So since when did it become a thing to release a rainbow trout back into a lake especially after you have handled them with your hands and took them out of the water. Rainbow trout die this way, and please tell me I’m wrong, I’ve only worked at a lake over half my life and I fish every chance I get.

Hemet lake is owned by the Municipal Water District which is owned by the public. They outsource a private company to charge their public financiers (you) to sell the rights to fish there by camping. Pretty much shady as he*ll. Like an HOA for the lake.

I live in a world class trout area(last 5 world record browns caught here) and unfortunately see fish that are diseased from people doing just what you did.

What's shoreline laws there. Where I am any shoreline is conservation property and as long as you can access the water from public property 25 feet from the water is public property and you can fish. Even if there are fences or docks if you can wade wader sound the fence you can fish it.
There is no wading allowed at Lake Hemet and majority of the shoreline of Lake Hemet is located inside the campground which is private property.

I thought you could fish public waters as long as you don’t fish off docks which are privately owned but land ends at the shore unless you pay buku to own the water around the dock, especially in a stocked lake.
Don't reel when they're pulling drag. That twists your line and will cause wind knots.
Thing is people are being rude but even here in Iowa there are signs everywhere at the docks that says no fishing from land or docks BUT if your on a boat they can't do anything about it because even if people own the property no one owns the water

Awesome video bro, great catch! But… you’re WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too slow at filleting those fish! Way way too slow. I got a nap in while you filleted that first fish. You gotta learn a better technique and use a thin but ultra razor sharp flexible filleting knife. You can fillet them out properly in about 10 seconds.

These guys have absolutely no respect for fish care, hauling the fish right on to the bank. There's this thing called a landing net, where you can keep the fish in the water without touching it, so you can gauge if it's keeping size. A good fisherman can catch and release a fish without it leaving the water or touching it.
Tie your line to the dock. Loosen drag and start reeling. What happens? Nothing, because your drag can't move the dock however, you're twisting your line on the reel which makes casting the light lures difficult because the twisted line doesn't flow through the rod eyes freely. I get it that you guys are having some innocent fun participating in an age old sport, but that doesn't mean you can't learn a thing or two. You've got one life, try it all and learn a little along the way. Good on you for not participating in the smack with the entitled gal, smack never does any good except leads to trouble. I subscribed because it doesn't cost me a thing and maybe helps people out.
