Bali is one of many provinces in Indonesia that still stick to tradition even though Bali is already famous in International. That's why I'm so proud of them 😊 cause many youngsters these days dont appreciate traditions 😳.

Monica Pakarati Not trying to be bias, but I personally think that Southeast Asian cultures are the most magical and mystical in the world. In Indonesia, the most dominant ones are the Balinese and Javanese culture. In pre-colonial age of the West, while these two cultures are already in its golden age, the Malaccan Empire, a muslim-Malay sultanate (post-Hinduism) was also very mystical in its own way. The design is quite similar (umbrellas, the royal colour of gold, mini gongs, etc) but the culture is quite different. When these different cultures met, I could only imagine how we look at each other in the old times. But it was not as shocking as seeing those white, chinese, arabs, indians etc with their cultures and outfits, weird colorations, tall figures and many more. The world must have had a really exciting journey in the past, until wars and West imperialism torn us apart.

CHARLY GITA yes, I think base on what I see the Apsaras dancer on the Angkor Wat the original Apsaras are very similar to the Bali dance. The modern Apsara dancer don't have the body movement of the Bali dancer and the Apsaras sculpture on the Angkor Wat. Khmer Empire started in 802 AD but the Khmer civilization are much older trace back to 100 B.C. the Bali Majahapit Empire started in 1293-around 1500 but we all know there are human living in Indonesia 30,0000 year ago. So as a Khmer myself from Vietnam I know Khmer king and Java king have contact they travel back ad forth that our culture are very similar. I wonder who started this dance

bali used to be such a beautiful country. my father was friends with a balinese doctor who worked (and in the end married) in europe and we visited that fascinating country 12 times while i was in my teens, that was about 20 years ago. those journeys were breath-taking and after all this time i still think back to them a lot. all the temples, the wild nature, the dances, the cuisine, the religious offerings and ceremonies, the open hospitality and curiosity of the natives who often had not seen any european/kaukasian in their entire life (this was a time before the internet and most people did not own a TV).
those journeys really formed a big part of who i am and how i perceive the world and myself as well as others nowadays. it was one of the happiest times of my life for sure. unfortunately, when i visited bali last summer for the first time again in so long (it is really, really crazy expensive) i barely recognized it anymore... its culture truely has become a commercial sell out for tourists and all the "charm" is gone, everything is just "give dollar, give dollar" and all the places are so crowded. especially in the southern, more urban parts of the isle in and around Kuta which looked way, way different from back in the days. all the mc donald's and iphone stores were little shrines, small spice shops and fruit markets in my memories, it was truely sad to see.
but as always, there is a bright side: if you want to experience this country in a more pure, less western-influenced way i would recommend you travel to the northern shore and to the west. there, if you leave the main paths and go into the smaller villages beyond the tourist shops, you will (if you are lucky) still find the "true" bali that has not been corrupted by modern technology, money and all the millions of australian/western tourists.

I remember when I was in middle school we had some musicians and dancers from Indonesia come to my school for a residency, they taught us how to do 3 things, play gamelan music, make and perform traditional shadow puppetry, and traditional Indonesian dance. I’m here after trying to understand Capcom’s inspirations behind Shara Ishvalda, and I gotta say, this is a pretty spot-on match to what I was told about. Can definitely see this as an inspiration, especially considering how well it fits the monster’s theme altogether.

I was there in about 2007, was a great show. Highly recommend the Honeymoon Guest House. Be sure to take in the cooking classes and market tour. I would go back to Bali for the food alone never mind the exotic culture.

Balinese dance is performed every afternoon on the lawn of the palace or castle Ubud Bali to entertain tourists , dear in this video zoom not utuih entirely but dismembered , yes because the entertainment is paid for tourists who watch it.
