Bad Taste in Coffee? Is It the Moka Pot?

In this simple tutorial, I will show you an easy method to determine if your moka pot is giving to your coffee a bad smell.
By boiling just water without coffe in your moka pot and then examining the water's clarity (it's dirty? presents floating oils?), taste and scent (does it smell like an oil tanker?), you can easily determine if your moka pot needs a cleaning or gasket change.
It is important to do this with a "clean" nose. Reset your sense of smell in the open air.
This quick and easy test will help you ensure that your morning coffee is free from any undesirable flavors or aromas that may be coming from your moka pot. If after this simple test the moka pot is perfect you can examine the brewing procedure or the coffee quality! Washing your moka pot with soap when necessary, changing the gasket and worn and encrusted components, is a healthy and useful practice.
If you want to take a step forward from the aluminum moka pot and the delicate maintenance it requires, switch to a stainless steel moka pot (in this case I have my fantastic 2-cup Bialetti Venus), it will change the game!
