I remember the Surbiton shop. Had a mail order catalogue and I fell in love with the Kay Red Devil. Later found out Clapton bought one when he was at Kingston Art School.

In recent years the Watkins guitars have inspired a new range of guitars, which are now branded as Rapier. The current Rapier 22, 33 and 44 models (2, 3 and 4 pickups respectively) look a lot like the original Watkins models, apart from the headstock, which has a more Fender like appearance. The electronics have been updated, but the pickups have been made to look just like those on the guitar seen here.

A guitar collection must be all Stratocasters.
They're all different. This is the brown one like the one that Clapton used on this track and here's the black one like the one that he used on that track and sold for so much.
There's also this one like the one that Buddy Guy uses and this one like that Jimi played. Did you know he used to play his upside down.
Then there's this one that Mark Knoffler played when I saw him at the NEC, he used to be in Dire Straits. His is the same colour as the one played by Hank Marvin who uses the whammy bar.
It all goes back to a guy called Buddy Holly who died.
