Hey @intheblues there's an affordable Guitar making company I think you should check out it's called 8SoundsMusic and I bought a j200 style guitar and have been thrilled with it ever since I got it. Maybe they'd give you a review copy of one of their guitars. Anyways cheers 🍻 mate 👍
Again, I love these Keys to the Guitar Shop episodes!!! Hearing amps, guitars, and pedals in a live situation to really get an idea how everything sounds together. Those of us (myself included) who have not taken the plunge and played live, a series like this helps us understand how everyone playing fits together. Always an inspiration Shane, I appreciate everything you do here on your channel. Thanks again for the effort and time you all took to create this musical treat!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸😎😎😎🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
1) that Gretsch + Super Reverb: 😻😻😻 2) those RevStars continually impress me with how versatile they sound. 3) Rory vs. Ultra: both sounded good but different. My preference is the Rory Strat.
This is so awesome. Dom definitely is a master of the volume pedal. I see him jam every week at the oaktree Tavern and have jammed with him a few times, and he is just an absolute killer guitarist.
Thanks mate. The super-reverb shines with that bright switch on. It gives it the attitude and works better when you use a dirt pedal. I told Dom if he ever sells the one I sold him, I am buying it back. lol
That Gretsch on the neck pickup. Whoa. Thanks for the great video, Shane. I’m looking for a 24 fret guitar and the PRS SE was very convincing, at least the way you played it!
Good on ya, Shane! The tone of the Yamaha - Gretsch combo was my fave. But, disclaimer, two of my favorite things are P-90’s and Gretches. And you guys playing them in a cool groove!😎
Superb format video ! Love it…perfect video to ear with the same settings, at the same time different guitars and pickups 👏👏. LET’S DO IT AGAIN SHANE 👍🥰
Awesome playing guys!!! Shane, I have two Indonesian PRS SE's and they are every bit as good as my USA Gibsons and Fenders. Fantastic guitars and great vid!!!!
Thanks for the support Scott. The PRS SE guitars are great. It felt great and the stock pickups are great. I might put my original pickups back in coming up.
That mighty Gretsch (26:22) was "the star of the show" imo... it just SANG! (And quite a contrast to the "synthetic" sound of the Revstar.) Whoever the drummer was, he's bloody brilliant. 🥁 👏
I am curious to see what you do with the format. I appreciate hearing the different combinations of guitars and amps played in a band making music. It inspires me to go check out my own gear and try different combinations.🎸🎶🎶
Hey Shane, proper job. I really like this series. The Tony Iommi SG, the Gretsch and the Super Reverb amp did it for me. Mind you I might have an amp Bias as I just got a Tone Master Super Reverb. Look forward to new format. Onward and Upward Pete
Great to see another of these vids, Shane. My Goodness, Dr Ric has changed so much since we last saw him! Thanks also to Daves 1 & 2. I like to see what basses Dave chooses to play. The Reverend looked interesting. Yeah, those Gretsch Electromatics offer so much. I enjoyed the tones you got out of it, and holding the feedback just in check added an edge to it all. Good stuff.
I haven’t listened to you play live in a while. Some nice Tasty playing! I have some experience with hollow body guitars. I heard the Gretsch want to take off. I always took a hollow body to my gigs. There is just something about them. One of my hollow bodies is a Gretsch Electomatic from years ago.
I thought the top 3 best sounding guitars was 1. Gretch that thing handled the dirt for sure.2 was the Ultra Strat sounded so good 3. your prs in Trampas green love that sound. Killer video enjoyed every minute of it.
Cool name for your band: "the Daves" ...! 😅 I just LOVE it! I'm killin' myself !!😂👍 Such an Aussie sounding name. And kinda alternative.. circa late 90's Triple J, in Auz.
Great video as usual Shane. Great playing by all. Made my day. Love my PRS SE's. Workhorse guitars. I have a Custom 24/08 and a Silversky SE. Waiting on my SE DGT Goldtop. Thanks
Going through the video again, the Stapleton sounded the best, but it's so pricey. I don't mind strats, but I prefer a Gibson or Mustang for Fender. Strats are so bright and cut through the mix so well.
That Rory Gallagher sounds way better through a Vox AC, and as I have them both, I do confirm it's an incredible good feeling to play it. Smells wood, leather, vibrates, sings with or without an amp.
? I enjoy your videos very much and like your music, thank you for doing these. If you were buying a guitar just to play at home which of these two would you choose and why; Fender player plus Telecaster with noiseless pickups, or PRS McCarty SE 594 Double Cut. Thank you again.
I think you should find a model of Gretsch that talks to you and buy it. Can't go wrong with a Gretsch. But I'm sure you know that. Be safe Be Happy thanks for all the great videos. especially the Gretsch reviews.
two different styles of playing guitar. the one using the scales non-stop and the other making phrases and lengthening the notes as if the guitar were singing... very nice guitars.
So if I wanted to buy that Georgia Green Gretsch (LH) am I stuck with the one that has your greasy hands all over them? 🤣🤣🤣 JK mate! I only WISH we had a Sky Music store here in Europe with all the lefty options they seem to carry. Rock on!
I should've asked this much sooner, but are there any Aussie electric guitar brands besides Artist where that actually make a good guitar for the money? It seems like guitar production just never really had been a huge interest down under vs the USA and Japan/Korea.
@@intheblues Check out Puresalem guitars, they make lefties...made in Korea...unique looking on some models. Billy Gibbons is one of their artists, interesting take on some fender models.

These videos take a crazy amount of time to put together, but I love sharing gear in a live mix over studio stuff all of the time. There's nowhere to hide playing live. Thanks so much for watching. timestamps and gear links below. Thanks to Sky Music for hosting us and the guys for jamming!

These Key to the Guitar Shop videos are always a delight. They should all be released as live albums.
Thanks mate! The Patreon crew get the audio from it (as you know). It might be good to put the best of out once a year or something :)
I second that recommendation John!!!!
I’d like to see him raid American guitar shops sometime. California maybe to start.
Thanks Sky Music for letting the guys play with all your toys!
🤘

I've said it a thousand times. I love those gretsch blacktop pickups.
Chimeysp like filtertrons, but around 7k instead of 4, so they drive nicely.
Your drummer rocks. 😎
MIGHTY playing Shane & co! Your BEST recording yet! \m/
Cheers man!
@@intheblues :o) Have a GREAT Easter! Going up to Dimboola for a few weeks!
Thank you Shane, wonderful idea this kind of video-live show series! Thumbs Up!
That Ultra Strat sounded fantastic!
Thoroughly enjoyed the playout....oh...and great guitar face Shane...
haha! Thanks Ron. When the tones are great, the guitar faces go a bit wild. :)
Hey congrats on passing 200k subs! I'm also afflicted with left-handedness, but if I wasn't I would have one of those PRS Fiores.
The Sky Music shop is amazing! Thanks Shane and the gang for showcasing all the awesome talents and equipment! Cheers from Winnipeg Canada!
Thanks for watching :)
Came to watch the Yamaha Revstar P90....not disappointed at all! GREAT PLAYING!!!
This series is a fave of mine. Great work, everyone!
Thanks, Cal B! Appreciate the kind words mate.
Wow! Love the tapped rhythm playing on the PRS Fiore! And some of the most tasteful leads on TH-cam from Shane as usual
I truly LOVE this series!! Great job Shane, Dave, Dave and Don! BTW: the switching was certainly on point, Rhyannon!
😊👍
Thanks for the support, Dennis. She did a great job :)
This is so awesome.
Dom definitely is a master of the volume pedal.
I see him jam every week at the oaktree Tavern and have jammed with him a few times, and he is just an absolute killer guitarist.
Yeah the Kiesel tones were epic too! Very nice. Tasty playing too. I’m glad you’re not afraid of the good brightness of the Super Reverb.
Thanks mate. The super-reverb shines with that bright switch on. It gives it the attitude and works better when you use a dirt pedal. I told Dom if he ever sells the one I sold him, I am buying it back. lol

Looking forward to the next episode in the series...'The Keys to Joe Bonamassa's Nerdville'...should be a blast.
What a treat! The back drop was awesome! Guitars everywhere. I must say I did turn it up on the 4-10" fender amp, suh, weet! LIVE no Bs. Like!

the TM Super Reverb makes sense. It's a lot easier to get around and still sounds great. They didn't have a TM at the time of filming.
Loved the harmonic rhythm stuff .
Sounded like a keyboard
Great playing. Have to say the contrast between the PRS and strats was striking. The Fenders cut through way better imo.
That little tweed amp just killed!
Thanks, Bob. I was pretty shocked how great it sounded in the room. I didn't want to put it back haha.
Drums sound really good
Great to see another of these vids, Shane. My Goodness, Dr Ric has changed so much since we last saw him! Thanks also to Daves 1 & 2. I like to see what basses Dave chooses to play. That deluxe did sound pretty great too now that I got to hear using better headphones...I'm hoping Fender makes a tone master based on that amp.

Hi Heath. The Gretsch was pretty cool. I was really digging the Gretch with the volume control up. It takes off big time

Great episode as always Shane, my fav was the green Gretsch on this one
Thanks for watching, Greg. That Gretsch is a beast. :)
Dang Shane the Iommi SG sounded great! Your tones in general were stellar!
Thanks, Granite. The guitar really surprised me. The tuning stability wasn't the best but it sounded and played great.
Daddy-o killin it as always! I reckon we need a Keys to the Guitar Shop: The Next Generation and I’ll play triangle! 😂
haha! Hey mate! It was great seeing him play a Strat! I heard he hasn't played on for ages.
@@intheblues Except for my gold Custom Shop that’s true! And the Rory G is a monster, Less laquer = more tone it seems!

Nice, Pete. The SE gear is some of the best.
That Yamaha and Kiesel where my favorites.
Some real nice gear 👍✌😎 Sky's my local 👍✌😎
Thanks, Mark. Man, they have some great stuff in there.
I’ve gotten a little bored with Gibson and Fender lately. I’m getting more into Gretsch, PRS, and Iconic guitars. Awesome and more unique

cool....love that revstar................peace
Can you review Sire s7 vintage and s3 guitar sir shane?
Hope you can make vids bout it.
Nice review, and nice playing!
Thankyou!
I won't be buying one of those but if I get a chance to test one I will give it a shot.
I had an ultra now a custom shop but the custom shop honestly is a bit stiffer in sound than the ultra...which you hear obviously in the video.
Those Ultra Strats sound pretty great in the context of a band mix. I think those noiseless pickups get a hard time for no real reason.
Very kewl!
Hi Shane did you find the Gretsch neck heavy at all?
It was pretty comfortable and lighter than the Stratocaster.
Princeton is good, I prefer the Mesa boogie

Yeah he did. He used Fender and Reverend bass guitars from memory.

Digital background images? Nope. It's losing focus a few times but it's straight out of camera.
I can see the $15,000 Murphy Lab SG is still there. And I think that’s where It’ll stay until a rich stockbroker comes along.
Is that the reason I had fret wear on one of my new guitars? :) just kidding
