  • The NTS-1 is a GREAT Synth by Itself!
    Today I'm back at the NTS-1 with a little recap on what makes it such an awesome standalone synth, especially for $119 US! While seemingly pretty simple, the actually sound design capabilities are quite deep once you factor in the effects section and any 3rd party content you may have installed on it. Be sure not to miss the modulation options as well, the LFO is pretty hidden but can do a lot for your patches! Enjoy the video :)

    In the height and heat of the summer, I took this out with me for walks, as I'd idly switch up and morph my groove.
    Once you become familiar with its limited settings, it is easy to unleash its capabilities on the fly without the need to look at the unit.
    My only gripe is that with enough wear and tear, I've needed to resolder the headphone jack as one of the channels came loose.

    • @mrpsycop3518
      @mrpsycop3518 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can't store custom arps in the vanilla setup, but there are 3rd party plugins that do all sorts. For example J6 by tweeeeeak (yes that's the name!) plays chords and has a step sequencer and so much more. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find someone has implemented custom arps in one way or another.

I can’t find it anywhere on the web… or on Korg site. I guess you could grab a copy from the librarian SW. Is that possible? Many many Thanks. Cheers.

    Hi there, just got my hand on one of these and I am struggling to get my head around some basic sound I/O issues i guess. I got a 3.5 mm stereo jack to 2 * 6.35 mono jacks splitter cable to my mixer and that works like a charm.
    But how can I, (preferably using only a single cable), get the full audio (stereo) from the NTS-1 into 1 channel (mono) on my hardware sequencer (using circuit tracks) without loosing audio? I am aware I will not get stereo on the tracks (unless I use the splitter cable going into 2 tracks on the CT.). But when I use a standard 3.5mm to 6.35mm jack the output volume signal is extremely low (half I guess).
    Having the same issue wth my Roland JU-06A.
    Awesome channel by the way, it is a part of my daily routine. Thank you so much!

    Nowadays all budget midi controllers seem to be only MIDI usb. Any budget keyboard (or midi usb to 5 pin din) you'd recommend?

    • @bearfishpie4916
      @bearfishpie4916 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been investigating this since discovering I can't easily connect my Arturia Minilab II to the NTS-1. The NTS-1 can receive MIDI via either a mini jack or micro USB, but since it also needs to be powered via the micro USB connector you can't just connect it straight to a MIDI controller and expect it to work. You'd either need to use a PC or MIDI host hub unit to act as a go-between, or get a keyboard with minijack or 5 pin MIDI out (plus a cheap 5 pin>minijack converter). Arturia's newly announced Minilab III has 5-pin midi out, as does their Keystep range. I'm sure there'll be other budget MIDI controllers suitable for the job but haven't looked into other manufacturers' options enough.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sure the NTS is great in features and sound and fully midi controllable even the effects ( I get it syncronized via VCV) , additonal oscillators effects ect... but the audio/earphones out is extremly sensitive and after some plug on and off it gets broken. I was lucky because it happend in the warranty period , and I get a full refund. But it will happen for sure after sone time because of the cheap build. There are many reports of this and that makes the NTS unusable for home studio or any other continous use and only for some hours of fun it IS expansive!
