I was super disappointed to find out Pantheon has one zone after almost 10 years of development. One zone. I just kept shouting, "ONE ZONE?! ONE ZONE?!" Why are people not angry about this like I am? I only threw away $100 at the project back in 2017 and I am outraged by this. One zone.
So in my last video I made this comment as a joke having never played the alpha and a lot of people got angry. Having not been in the alpha and not signed the NDA I meant it as a joke.... Well....
I love how they think people are going to pay $50 to play the game for 6 days. I knew this game went full retard when they added Minus to the team. That guy is worthless and so are his videos.
As a $1,000 Pantheon backer since 2016, it's been quite the journey. Following Brad's passing, the project seemed to pause for a year. My early alpha experience felt like an unfinished Everquest 2.0. Fast forward, they introduced a 247 mode which left me confused after a brief try. Recently, I found the game reverted to a traditional Everquest-style MMO, focusing on mob camps in one zone. It's nostalgically enjoyable, yet I'm puzzled by the game's direction over the years.
I don't hate anybody. However you hit the nail on the head. You can tell when a streamer / youtuber etcetera is being genuine and honest to their followers and when one is in the pockets of various different developers. I am a VIP pledger to Pantheon. I have spent over $1,ooo on that scam. But I'm also or I try my best to be an honorable man. That means I have convictions & a strong "moral compass". I don't like admitting I got scammed. However I will NEVER sit on the sideline & be silent while developers are running a scam. I will never let them scam my fellow brother and sister without warning them. All the verbal threats and harassment from the wannabe elitist living in a bubble. Are empty! Cheap tactics they used to try and bully you into silence. That in its self tells you all you need to know about them. I do NOT hate Nathan. At one point I did financially support him. However I'll once again say it. I will not turn a blind eye to devious actions. I'm starting to feel like VR turning Pantheon into an extraction game was a ruse. A ruse to fool people & get them talking about Pantheon again. Because the pledges from pledgers dried up. Can I be wrong? Yes... However with all the smoke and mirrors ( illusions ) and other cheap tactics they have done and are doing is why I feel like this.
Thanks dude. Yeah, you're right they're no Billy Mitchell - but threats are still threats. I hope I'm always on the genuine side, but I can't promise anything. I mean, some day that raid shadow legends money may come a knocking. But I still...I'd rather than do a raid shadow legends advert than promote a game that might scam my audience? I mean if they play raid shadow legends with their credit card that's on them
I have a pledge package and the only reason I did so was to help Brad (RIP THE GODFATHER OF MMORPG) get his vision off the ground. Yeh I was hyped but its one of those things I looked as an investment in a DEV I have trust in. I despise this action mmo rpg hand held que up bottle fed crap that has become of the 2nd 3rd 4th gen MMORPG games. I have tried them all they are just all single player games with coop things to do once and awhile. Us OG D&D players understand is that you DON'T PLAY D&D ALONE! Do I obsess over Pantheon? No, I read the monthly emails and check in on the website once and awhile and if nothing comes from it I will be sad that the style of MMORPG I love will truly be dead. This is the only game ever I pledged to, pre ordered or bought into early access. To me it was investing into someone and not buying something. I have hopes but not holding my breath.
Yeah I bought one of those pre alpha packages for $1,000 many years ago. It's just a shame how poorly the project has been managed. I think that the Unity contract drama coupled with the graphics changes were the final nail in the coffin for this project. I can't even recognize this game anymore, it's just so terrible. We old EQ players just held out so much hope for a hardcore mmorpg but in reality, this game probably died 5 years ago, we just didn't know or want to admit it.
What was great? I mean I have 100 great visions of games. Are you saying the game used to be great? or the vision of the game used to be great? Well all visions of kickstarter games are great other wise people wouldn't chuck money at them?@@agogo8861
Never thought pantheon started as a scam but after the extraction mode and only having one full time dev trying to make an mmo of all things. I currently feel like its a scam to keep the store open. Nathan even still recommends paying for the pre alpha!!! Lost my respect right there.
Daaamnnn I'm sorry dude. One of the things that gets my blood pressure so dangerously high is I think a lot of people think everyone that donates that much think that people are just chucking money around. I think that's often not true, I think people just care - and the internet is getting better and better at parting people with their money. That's nothing new - but what I can't stand is youtubers who, even the small one's are probably making good 1k a month off being so ambivalent about this crap. If you wanna play some old school Everquest on TAPK hit me up!
I have played on most of the Time Locked servers and all it is now is a money grab. 6 months new server with rule sets no one really wants. Panth was supposed to be a trip down memory lave as I have over 22 years in EQ. Only the access media gets real time and only 2 test sessions ever worked for me.@@oldmanbanjo
My man, you had me up until you mentioned Canada. I thought the USA had some some looney tune laws, then comes Cananda blowing the doors open. Great video besides that
I'm sure there's going to be no changing your mind, and I respect that you feel bad for people that don't feel they're getting what they expect in exchange for their money. That makes sense, and is reasonable. However, among the wild ride this video was, one of the points it seems you are trying to make is that content creators are getting some kind of compensation for supporting this 10+ year Pre-Alpha project. I'm not sure how much a TH-cam comment could do for convincing, but I've been around this community for a very long time, I've been a content creator around Pantheon, I've worked with NathanNapalm, RedbeardFlynn, BazgrimTV, CohhCarnage, PantheonPlus (now called StaticGroupLive)...all of the "shills." I can confidently say VR has never paid them/us in the history of the project. At *most* they have allowed access to the PA to folks that didn't already have access, and even that is rare. VR simply doesn't have the money to do this kind of promotion. And it's hilarious this spurred from EQOANostalgia, because he was a very outspoken channel *against* Pantheon for quite a while. It was only the end of last year, I think, that he flip-flopped. Before that he was usually blowing up, similar to you, or pushing conspiracy theories about VR, or ranting about his (inflammatory) comments getting deleted on other creator channels. Make of that what you will. I talk to a lot of upset people surrounding indie, kickstarter, or small studio games. I've seen so many projects that were actual scams, rugpulls, etc. The Day Before is the obvious recent one, but we've seen plenty more. The Quinfall is showing plenty of signs, even. However, there's a difference between a nefarious company and project that has come into misfortune, and I wish channels like yours found some way to reconcile all of the possibilities of what a group of people trying to make a game might encounter. Star Citizen, for example - huge monetary success, more money than they knew what to do with, still had to build a company, still revised the project multiple times, still haven't reached some foundational milestones. But, people play it and have fun every single day. Pantheon's timeline is more a course of rocky switchbacks and potholes. They never hit their funding goals, from the beginning. Peak hype was in 2016 and it's been going downhill since. We're talking very, very small numbers to work with to try to make an MMORPG - way less than I think people realize. Their team has grown and shrunk multiple times. Key people have died or moved to much more stable AAA studios. They've made an impossible amount of organizational and developmental mistakes, like many indie studios do, and for the most part, have owned up to them. They only have a few truly experienced people still plugging away, and quite a few folks working on it more from a place of passion than expertise. On one hand, you could say, "Well they shouldn't take people's money if the situation is so dire!" And then abandon everyone that has already given their money, to see the project literally never be completed. You could blame them for not being able to see the future as funding never really got to the point where they could really get rolling. You could blame them for not knowing better and avoiding the mistakes that have come along the way...and boy, there have been plenty of mistakes. But the fact, and yes I dare say it's a fact - there is a small group of passionate people still trying to deliver something that most of the internet has given up on. And they're still going, after 10 years, trying to make this game they started. And against some mind-bogglingly popular belief, doing it for the absolute bare minimum in the way of compensation, just to make the project able to move at all. So when I see a video attempting to push the idea that this company is trying to somehow pay creators that get maybe 1k views on a Pantheon video, if they're lucky, I can't help but leave an essay in hopes that some reason might be found. Or maybe you'll say I'm, "in on it too," or some equally bogus BS to help you cope with the fact that the people you're accusing simply really want this project to see the light of day, and have pumped hundreds, even thousands of hours into attempting to help. Maybe that doesn't make sense to you, and maybe your mind is rigged to believe that no-one would put that much time into something without getting something in return. Honestly, I can understand that. But again, I've been deeply immersed in this community, and while we have some really annoying shills, that leave the most mindboggling dumb comments, everyone that's made Pantheon content over the last 10 years also has seen double the amount of mindbogglingly dumb comments from folks that was videos like yours and would rather spread garbage and drama than even attempt to investigate themselves. So maybe, before you make a video attempting to slander or accuse, try reaching out to someone that might actually know. 'Cause now 2,000 people have been subjected to your wild stream of thought with absolutely no reason or evidence all because you got a comment that pissed you off. From a guy that's a known conspiracy-monger. That's all I'm suggesting. Feel free to reach out to me if you actually give a shit. If you bothered reading this massive waste of time, I can at least respect you for that.
I shouldn't have lost my temper - but it's the indifference to the whole situation(s) just sets me off. So many people are sad they wasted their money and as someone's that's been through a lot of legal drama in my life. If you want an interesting video on one of the WORST examples of youtube schilling checkout Volund's video on how Creative Assembly have monetized the Total War TH-cam space: th-cam.com/video/XSeykTIAS_Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qUml4hYrR-Di8-Id - He goes into much more detail about how you can monetize your connection with a developer. Also, wtf youtube doesn't copy claim me for playing Keith Greene. I guess he's just not that popular. RIP Keith. God bless.
so what is the real deal with this game? my buddy got an e-mail saying he was going to be in the alpha on Feb 10th? 8th? something like that. I could not justify handing them any money for anything after Brad's passing. I am curious to see how this turns out, but so far all the videos I have seen are contradictory. Wtf is really going on.
They were going to bait and switch the game, but are now back tracking to make an mmorpg. I don't see how as a business you can reverse such huge plans, unless they were made randomly in the first place? It's just not how game dev works.

The thing I just don't get about the whole thing. Is how there are so many dedicated devs at Al Kaboor and P99 who keep stuff running as a hobby project, and yet after a decade they can't compete with a game that was released in the 90s.
